No matter how old your kids are, you can take steps to improve a healthy diet and to encourage good eating habits.
Tip One: Family Meals
Family meals are nice for both parents and kids. Children like to guess what they are going to have and parents get the chance to introduce new foods to children. Parents can also use the mealtime as a chance to talk with their kids about their life.

Kids, especially younger ones, will eat mostly what they can get at home. That’s why it’s important to have enough healthy snacks, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, yogurt and whole-grain biscuits.

Tip Four: No Shouts about Food
Parents might find themselves shouting at children to get them to have healthy foods in fount of them. This in fact can make children dislike what they are asked to eat. You need to work a bit on different cooking methods.

Sweet idea Honey is produced by bees. But today’s beekeeping business(养蜂产业)is not good for these hard-working insects. Bee farmers may kill them after getting honey because it’s cheaper than feeding the bees through the winter. To save bees, US company MeliBio has found a way to make the world’s first bee-free honey. They used synthetic biology(合成生物学)to create honey directly from plants. This kind of honey tastes just like the real one, and it is healthy, too. |

In the 1950s, it was a poor area and everything was very cheap. At the same time, the world rice market changed and thousands of farm workers in Hong Kong lost their jobs. They began arriving in London to look for work. They found jobs in the restaurants in this area.
These restaurant workers often worked 17 hours a day and had no time to learn English. As more Chinese arrived, more shops and businesses grew up. Wives came and joined their husbands and children came and joined their fathers. The community grew, and Chinatown was born.
In the 1970s and 1980s, British-born Chinese started to have a better education (教育) and this brought economic (经济的) success to the area. Many families moved out of Chinatown, and there was more space for businesses. Chinatown soon became a popular place for tourists.
Now everyone knows about London’s Chinatown. During the Chinese New Year, the streets are seen with flags and thousands of Chinese go into the streets. For most of the year, though, Londoners and tourists go there mainly for the food in the Chinese restaurants. The best restaurants are the ones where the Chinese eat.

They hang colorful balloons, set up toys, games and activities, and prepare different kinds of food and gifts on a table. Soon it’s time to play the music and welcome the guests. The kids rush in, ready to celebrate. Happy Birthday!
Every month, parties like this can be seen at some places for the homeless. The host, a nonprofit organization(非营利组织) called the Birthday Party Project, throws birthday parties for groups of kids who don’t have a home. For some children, it’s the first birthday party they’ve ever had.

Since then, the organization has grown. Now the Birthday Party Project hosts about 50 monthly parties in 15 cities. More than 10, 000 kids have celebrated their birthdays at these events.
Jamie Gates, who works at the housing community in Minneapolis, Minnesota, says that the Birthday Party Project holds parties there on the third Thursday of each month. According to Gates, if she doesn’t put up the notice for the next event at least five days ahead, kids will start asking her about it. “They love it,” she says. ““Parents will come to the too. "I'm a clean, non-smoking, and warm-hearted American man looking for a homestay in the Wudaokou area to improve my Chinese language skills,” he wrote. "I'm willing to offer help with English tutoring(家教)and even can help you with applying for foreign universities.”
He still hasn't found a suitable home.
"Most of the families that contacted me seem to be interested in doing business instead of cultural exchange," he said. "I think I might have to rent an apartment in the end.”
Kohl isn't the only foreigner finding it difficult to find a homestay in Beijing. Michael Benson, who wants to come to Beijing in September, has also faced the same problem.
Why is finding a homestay family so difficult? Beijing Today consulted a Chinese teacher, Jessie Xi, who has been teaching foreign students at the University of International Business and Economics for more than six years.
Xi has accepted many homestays, and from her own experience and what she's been told, she said there were four major problems visitors may meet when applying for homestays.
Problem 1:Having too high expectation for language improvement.
Problem 2: Considering oneself as a guest instead of a family member.
Problem 3: Not making clear what a family's rules are beforehand.

Do you ever feel like your thoughts are going around in circles? One minute, you’re thinking about your homework. The next minute , you’re thinking about your plans for the weekend.
Is it possible for us to slow our thoughts down or even stop them completely? It depends on your definition(定义)of “thinking”, according to Michael Halassa, a researcher at MIT, US. We basically go through each day in one of the two states(状态)—we either realize that we are thinking or we don’t. Our brains won’t stop thinking completely until we die.
“The brain never actually stops ‘thinking’ in a broader sense. Most thoughts are actually in the background without us noticing them and there’s not really a way to turn these things off.” Halassa said. Human brains can unconsciously process(无意识地处理)about 11 million pieces of information per second, according to Forbes.
You can compare this to how a computer works. Even when you aren’t using your computer while it’s turned on, it is still running operations “in the background”. Your computer, much like your brain, is constantly “thinking”, even if you’re not actively using it.
Some researchers have referred to this phenomenon(现象)as “thought-chatter”. It describes all kinds of thoughts that pop(出现)in and out of our mind at different times during the day, according to Steve Taylor, a psychology lecturer.
Some thought-chatter can be enjoyable, such as daydreaming. Albert Einstein came up with his famous theory of relativity(相对论)while daydreaming at work. “But too much though-chatter can make us feel too anxious or worried,” Taylor said. “Meditation(冥想)can help us clean up some of this thought-chatter.
