Twenty-four volunteers will join the training. They all have some experience of keeping dogs and they all love dogs. They will learn a special language first from the coach (教练) and they teach the dogs. This training will take 180 days. Then the better-performed dogs will enter the next training. They will learn to understand different sounds, such as knocking on a door and water boiling. Then the dogs will live with the deaf or the old for 30 days.

Some people think the plan won’t work, because it will cost a lot of money. But some people like the plan and they would like to be the volunteers.

I went to Hawaii (夏威夷) last summer. Hawaii is a very beautiful place. It’s in America. Many people go there for vacation every year. The weather was pretty nice during my staying in Hawaii. It was sunny every day. I visited many places and I had a good time there. I went to the beach. I saw many people there. Some people played on the beach, some lay on the beach and looked at the sky, others swam in the sea.

Hawaii is the best place for the water sports in the world. A very popular sport is surfing (冲浪). I think surfing is exciting but dangerous.

People in Hawaii are very friendly. Many people are good at dancing. There I saw them dance very well.

It is midnight when you arrive at the bus station, so you have to live in a hotel for one night. You can live in Fukun Hotel. It is near the bus station. It is a tall building. The next day you can come to my home.

Take a taxi from the hotel. Go along Heping Street. Then you can see a big supermarket Zhongbai Supermarket. Then turn left. Walk along Shengli Street and turn right at the second crossing, then you can see my house on your left. There’s a pay phone in front of my house. You can find it easily.

A few years ago, scientists believed that the world had 400 billion trees. However, a new study from Yale University shows that there are around three trillion trees. That’s a three followed by 12 zeros. That means there are about 420 trees for everyone in the world today.

The bad news is that thousands of years ago, the earth had six trillion trees. Humans cut in half the number of trees on the planet. Take Europe for example, it was a large forest thousands of years ago. Now much of it is cities and towns. And another 15 billion trees are lost each year.

Dr. Thomas Crowther is one of the scientists from Yale University. He said the new number of trees from their study would change nothing. “The study only shows we need to do more to protect our forests.” he said.
