How often do you use your mobile phone as a teenager? When I was a teenager, I received my first mobile phone at the age of thirteen. I quickly discovered the texting function (功能) and started to send texts daily to my friends.

I started to replace (替换) phone calls and in person socializing with texting. Texting made it easier for me to communicate with my family and friends whenever possible. It was a whole new method of communication for me. I could keep doing some other activities while sending messages. I was also more comfortable when I spoke my mind through these messages.

Now when I look back, I wonder if texting changed how I socialized as a teenager. Did I lose in person social skills? Now as a young adult in college, I find interpersonal communication is very important throughout my daily activities. I feel that teenagers are becoming too comfortable with texting and not practicing in-person social skills.

In today’s world, socially interactive (交互的) technologies have become part of our everyday lives, especially for teenagers. Teenagers in the US spend about 6 hours per day using mobile phones and they are the common heavy users in using the socially interactive technologies. I believe teenagers are replacing face-to-face interactions with the text messaging function of mobile phones. Texting gives a safety net for teenagers to communicate with each other. Teenagers can communicate what they want to say without the pressures (压力) of being face-to-face to each other.

It is a very important skill for teenagers to be able to improvise. As teenagers grow and continue their lives as young adults, they will need to use this skill in many situations. For example, in a job interview, you have no time to re-think and erase (清除) what you say. Besides, in face-to-face communication, teenagers can read body language and facial expressions.

3. The word “improvise” in Paragraph 5 probably means ________.
A.plan something for a long timeB.practice doing something slowly

文章大意:本文主要介绍了上海十岁男童骑共享单车,发生交通事故的事情。作者希望经过大家的努力,确保这样的惨剧不再发生。

【推荐1】Have you ever used shared bikes? What do you think of this new “fashion”? Shanghai is one of the first cities in China to have shared bikes. Shared bikes can now be found all over the city. They are popular, in fact, not only among adults but also among teens. On streets wide and narrow, there are some accidents involving shared bikes. These accidents warn us that shared bikes are not for everybody.

One of the most serious accidents took place in March. One Sunday afternoon, a boy was cycling on an ofo bike. He was hit by a bus and later died. The boy’s parents are not by his side. Besides, the boy was considered too young to ride a bike. He was only about 10 years old.

The good news is that Shanghai has been trying to regulate bike sharing. The regulations are still being discussed, but some of the rules have been decided upon. For example, only people aged between 12 and 70 can ride shared bikes. Users must be between 1.45 and 1.95 meters tall.

However, it could be hard to put these regulations into effect. Young children can still be seen riding ofo bikes. That’s because many ofo bikes use manual locks. If a user did not lock the bike properly after using it, anyone can ride it away. Ofo has developed electronic locks. However, it will take some time for the company to install the new locks on all of its bikes. I hope we can do more work to make sure the accident like this never happen again.

【推荐2】In 2011, when British photographer David J. Slater was visiting a park in Indonesia, his camera was taken away by a group of black monkeys. The result was hundreds of monkey selfies (自拍照). The best ones show a female monkey smiling toothily for the camera. Slater then sold the photos and they became popular on the Internet.
Nobody knew they would create a copyright battle three years later.
Last month, Wikimedia Commons put the monkey selfies online under a collection of free photos without Slater’s permission. Slater asked the website to take them down since he owns the copyright.
However, Wikimedia Foundation—the organization behind Wikimedia Commons—refused Slater’s request. They said that according to US copyright law, whoever pushes the button on the camera owns the copyright to the photo. It was the monkeys but not Slater that pushed the button.
What’s more, monkeys don’t own copyright. “US copyright law says that works that come from a non-human source can’t ask for copyright,” said Katherine Maher, Chief Communications Officer of Wikimedia.
Slater argues that the pictures belong to him as they were taken from his camera. He said he bought the cameras; he spent a lot of money to travel to Indonesia; and it was his carelessness that allowed the monkeys to take his cameras away. All these have made him the author of the picture, no matter who pushed the button. In a sense, the monkeys could be regarded as his assistant, Slater said.
As of now, there has been no result in the Monkey Selfie case. Who do you think will win this interesting battle?
1. What can we learn from the first paragraph?
A.Some monkeys grabbed Slater’s camera.
B.Slater took photos of the monkeys and sold them.
C.The photos taken by Slater became popular on the Internet.

3. The copyright battle of the photos began in ______.
A.2011B.2012C.2014
4. Who owns the copyright of the photos according to Wikimedia?
A.The monkeys.B.David J. Slater.C.Nobody.
5. What is the story main about?
A.A copyright battle over photos taken by monkeys.
B.Why Wikipedia refused to take down some photos.
C.How the photos taken by monkeys became popular online.
