Having a nosebleed is not comfortable and looks scary. When the situation of the nosebleed gets worse, it can make you go into shock (休克). But most of the time, if you can control it, it’s usually not dangerous. Let’s have a look at two examples of stopping a nosebleed.

Michael’s mother tells him to put his head back when he has a nosebleed. The reason is that the blood will make his clothes dirty. As well, many people don’t like to see blood. But one of the biggest mistakes about stopping nosebleeds is to put the head back. In fact, Michael should put his head down. If he lies down or puts his head back, the blood may godown the throat. Then it will go into the stomach. Blood may irritate the stomach and make Michael vomit (呕吐) suddenly.

Tina presses the sides of her nose during a nosebleed. The right place of pressing is just below the bony bridge (骨桥). If she does it in a right way, she should be able to breathe through the nose. And she had better keep pressing for at least five minutes. If the nosebleed doesn’t stop after 15 to 20 minutes of pressing, Tina should go to see a doctor.

Every summer, drowning (溺水) accidents happen among students from time to time. The best way to avoid drowning is to learn to swim.     1     Swimming is both a useful life skill and a great sport. Like any physical activity, swimming carries risks, so it’s important to make sure that you do it safely. Here are some things you should know.

2     So always have someone with you. No matter how old you are, swimming alone is a bad idea. You never know what may happen while you’ re swimming. You may fall, get hit or have other unexpected accidents. They can help you or call for help for you if anything happens.

Swim only when you feel comfortable. For example, don’t swim if you have an open wound.     3     And if you still don’t feel better, get out of the pool.

Follow the pool rules and signs.     4     So look for and read the pool safety information carefully before getting into the water. And don’t jump into any water unless you know how deep it is.

Be patient.     5     Start by swimming once or twice a week, and don’t expect to break any speed or distance records in a short time. Maybe in the beginning you can only make it halfway across the pool before you need to take a break, and that’s okay. As you practice more, you’ll be able to swim for longer each time.

A.It takes time to improve your swimming skill.
B.They are there to protect you.
C.Don’t swim alone.
D.If you develop pain while swimming, stop and rest.
E.For this, many schools have offered swimming lessons.
