John and his father go to the park in the afternoon. John wants to walk near the pool. But he sees a sign. His father reads it to him: “Warning: This pool is dangerous. 365 people fell into (掉进) it.” John looks into the pool carefully, then he says, “I can’t see them.”

So you're my new pen friend. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I'm 14 years old and I live in Calgary, Canada. I have two older brothers, Brian and Sam. I'm the only girl.

I love sports and I'm always looking for exciting new hobbies to try. I like playing baseball in winter. It's fun beating the boys! But summer is my favourite time of the year. I love skateboarding and rock climbing in summer.

Skateboarding's great because it's so fun and easy to learn! I often skateboard after school. There are many places in the park where I can do stunts. I'm good at stunts like jumping and turning the skateboard!

Rock climbing is also really fun. I usually climb with my dad on weekends. We can't do it on real mountains very often because we live in the city. We do indoor rock climbing instead but it's not as challenging.

“Well, I give you one year.” God said. “You will be in charge of all kinds of weather. Let's see what your crops will grow like.”

On hearing this, Joe was excited and immediately shouted, “Sunny!” Suddenly the clouds went away.

He was pleased and shouted again, “Rain!” The sky was covered with dark clouds right away, then after a while, heavy rain poured down.

Watching the seeds growing bigger and bigger and becoming crops, Joe felt much satisfied. Then, the harvest season came.

He went to the field to get his crops. But his heart suddenly sank when he found the strong crops even hadn't grown a grain（谷粒）. He was quite confused and started to cry. Once again,God heard him.

“Do you want to know why you still don't get the good harvest you want?” God asked. “That's because you never asked for wind, rainstorm, snow and ice, or anything that could make the air fresher and the rots stronger. Without strong roots, of course the crops won't grow any fruit.”

After he realized this, Joe asked God to take back the power. It turned out that only through life's challenges would reap（收获）the fruit of life.
