Baduanjin Exercise for Children (《少儿八段锦》) is a new book for children to do exercise. It is the very first of its kind. The book tells one of the most popular traditional Chinese exercises to keep healthy. “Ba” means eight,“duan” means pieces and “jin” means something beautiful like silk. There are eight movements altogether. People are like beautiful silk when they are doing the sport.
Baduanjin can date back to the Song Dynasty and it has a history of more than 800 years. It is easy to learn, and doesn’t take much space or time. Through deep and slow breathing (呼吸) , our muscles (肌肉) will relax and our minds will be quiet. It’s a healthy sport for both men and women, young and old. It makes thin people strong and heavy people lose fat.
The book is full of simple words and colorful pictures. For each movement, it also tells the basic health knowledge about doing exercise. And there are many interesting historical stories about the sport in the book. By scanning the QR code (二维码) in the book, readers can watch videos and follow them to learn every movement of the traditional exercise.
Now the book in English and Russian appears. It becomes more and more popular in many countries.

Sometimes it describes something that is not yet ripe(成熟的) or finished. For example, a greenhorn is someone who has no experience, who is new to a situation. In the fifteenth century, a greenhorn was a young cow or ox whose horns had not yet developed. A century or so later, a greenhorn was a soldier who had not yet had any experience in battle. By the eighteenth century, a greenhorn had the meaning it has today—a person who is new in a job.
Someone who has the ability to grow plants well is said to have a green thumb. The expression comes from the early 1900s. A person with a green thumb seems to have a magic touch that makes plants grow quickly and well. You might say that the woman next door has a green thumb if her garden continues to grow long after your plants have died.
The Green Revolution is the name given some years ago to the development of new kinds of rice and other grains. The new plants produced much larger crops. The Green Revolution was the result of hard work by agricultural scientists who had green thumbs.
Green is also the color used to describe the powerful emotion, jealousy(嫉妒). The green-eyed monster is not a frightening creature from outer space. It describes the unpleasant feeling a person has when someone has something he wants. A young man may suffer from the green-eyed monster if his girlfriend begins going out with someone else. *Write down key facts. If your teacher writes notes on the blackboard, that's great. You can copy(记下) them or write down the most important facts of all in class. Different teachers do things differently. For example, some teachers may focus on (关注) lots of dates and facts in class, but they only write the important ones on the blackboard. Other teachers may not write anything down, but they may say something important again and again.
*Ask. Don't be afraid to ask your teacher to repeat(重复) what you miss. If your teacher speaks too fast and you can’t follow what he/she is saying, you can ask him/her after class.
*Compare. Comparing your notes with your classmates' can be good for your learning. It can also help you and your classmates correct some mistakes.
*Organise(组织). Note-taking also needs organization. Keep notes for each subject in one notebook, so that you can find everything easily when a test comes.
*Good note-taking takes time. If you decide to recopy(重新抄写) your notes every evening, you'll surely have less time to watch TV. But you'll save time in the coming test.

If you often travel by train, it is usual for you to hear others’ loud phone calls or the sounds of kids. But some people want to have a peaceful trip. Luckily, the solution is on its way.
Starting on Dec 23, the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway (铁路) gives a quiet carriage (车厢) service. It would create a quieter and more comfortable environment for passengers (乘客), China State Railway Group said.
In the quiet carriage, passengers can’t put their phones and computers on speaker. But it’s OK for them to change their phones to “shake” or “quiet”. Also, they can make phone calls in the hallway.
If passengers can follow the rules, they will be able to choose the quiet carriages when buying train tickets on 12306.cn.
Many are looking forward to this choice. “With the quiet carriage, I can enjoy some peaceful time on the train with people who have the same idea,” Yin Yue, a high-speed rail passenger in Beijing, told China Daily.
However, some think that this could make people think wrongly. Yang Hongshan, a doctor of Renmin University of China, said that people might think that they needn’t keep quiet in normal carriages.
More than giving passengers quiet carriage service, the company should take action to educate passengers on how to keep quiet during train trips in normal carriages, Yang said.

3. You’d better not choose the quiet carriage unless you can follow the rules.
4. People don’t need to keep quiet in normal carriages at all.
5. From the passage, we can know that following the rules is as important as enjoying a quiet trip.
