Have you ever heard of ChatGPT? It’s an AI (人工智能) language model and is developed by Open AI. It’s designed to understand and produce human-like texts.
ChatGPT, or “Chatbot Generative Pre-trained Transformer”, is an advanced language model which is created with cutting-edge (尖端) artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. It’s designed to understand and produce texts like how humans do. ChatGPT is based on the GPT series of models, and it’s the fourth form that is known as GPT-4.
ChatGPT is trained on an extremely large amount of text data (数据) from books, websites, and other sources. It learns to understand the structure of the language, grammar, and context. When you provide key words about a text, ChatGPT organizes the information in a special order and makes a response, which is based on its knowledge.
The model has been trained to use a technique called “unsupervised learning”, which means it’s unnecessary to tell it what to do and how to do. It learns by observing patterns and relationships in the data. This helps ChatGPT to be highly creative and more suitable.
As a middle school student, you may find ChatGPT an excellent resource for different kinds of tasks. If you’re stuck on a problem or need help to understand a concept (概念), ChatGPT can provide explanations and examples. It can help you brainstorm ideas, make outlines, and even proofread your articles to improve your writing skills. If you’re learning a new language, it can help you practice by making conversations or translating phrases. It can also be a source of entertainment, creating stories, jokes, or even taking part in friendly conversations.
ChatGPT is undoubtedly a powerful tool. However, it is important to note that ChatGPT is not perfect and may sometimes make responses that are not appropriate or correct. We should use critical thinking skills and evaluate the responses which are generated by ChatGPT to ensure that they are appropriate and helpful.

The “bus driver”—an adult on a bike—guides a slowly moving group along a route (路线) that has already been chosen. Kids and their parents join the group on their own bikes when the group rides by.
Bike buses are a way for everyone to bike together for fun, convenience and safety. On busy streets, a big group of five to ten kids is much more visible (明显的) than one or two kids biking alone.
Sam Balto is a PE teacher. He leads a bike bus to school. His bus is especially visible because it has hundreds of shouting kids and parents. It stretches out over several blocks (街区). Sam vlogs his bike bus trip. As the parent of two kids, I can’t watch his videos without crying. The bike bus calms my fear that the kids will get hurt on the road. Laughing kids! Outside, in person! Together! So when a friend asked if I would lead a bike bus in our neighborhood, of course I said yes.
Using active transportation to go to work and school—whether that’s a biking bus, or even a walking bus—has many advantages. Yes, people are healthier and happier when they’re more active, but reducing the number of cars around a school can also reduce heavy traffic and air pollution.
I was shocked by what starting or driving a bike bus meant to different people. For Luke Bornheimer, the leader of the San Francisco Bike Bus, it’s amazing to see children take care of themselves. “Kids are really smart and strong.” Bornheimer says. “They get how to ride responsibly (负责任地) and have fun. We’re just giving them that chance.” For me, the bike bus was the start of rejoining my community. My kids love the bike bus, but we parents might love it even more. We talk about everything, from the bike bus to other topics, such as planning neighborhood roller skating meetups and party nights.
I do accept that getting more kids to safely bike and walk in more places will take a lot more work than parents just trying to get their kids to school every day. But our efforts are a start. We live on a planet that has many environmental problems. Maybe the best way to remind ourselves that we and the Earth are worth (值得的) protecting is by moving through it, not in cars, but with fresh air on our faces and the sounds of kids’ laughter echoing in our ears.

Let children learn to judge(判断)their own work. A child doesn’t learn to talk by being corrected all the time. If he is corrected too much, he will stop talking. He notices a thousand times a day the differences between the language he uses and the language others use. Little by little, he makes the necessary changes to make his language like other people’s.
In the same way, children learn to do all the other things without being taught-to walk, run, climb or ride a bicycle. They compare their performances with those of more skilled people, and slowly make the changes. But in school we never give a child a chance to find out his mistakes and correct them himself. We do it all for him. We thought that he would never notice a mistake unless it was pointed out to him, to correct it unless he has made to. Soon he becomes dependent on the teacher. Let him work out with the help of other children if he wants it.
If it is a matter in math or science, give him the answer book. Let him correct his own papers. Why should we teachers waste time on such daily work? Our job should be to help the children when they tell us that he can't find the way to get the right answer. Let the children learn what all educated persons must learn, how to measure(估量)their own understanding, how to know what they know or do not know.
Let them get on with this job in their ways. School teachers can offer help if they ask for it. Some parents and teachers are worried that the children might fail to learn something that they will need to get in the world. Don’t worry! If it is important, they will go out into the world and learn it.

I know that changing schools was a big thing for me. It helped me to be stronger and open towards meeting new people. Sometimes it feels like everybody is already in a group. This makes it harder for someone else to go in. But, it is not that hard. Actually many people know that you are from another country. They feel curious about your “history”, and would often think you are a different man.
Another thing that can produce a shock to me is the sudden change of weather. During the last couple of days, there was an ice-snow storm. It was the biggest in 15 years in the state of Missouri. It was raining ice, really, and you could hear sounds outside the window like little pieces of rocks hitting it, of course it was the ice. It startedaccumulatingso heavily that the University had to close down for two days, and it got worse when it started snowing after the ice storm.
As international students, you may at times find something very difficult, but hey, anyone can beat and overcome it to make studying aboard an unforgettable experience.

This behavior is called "bedtime procrastination (拖延症) , and results from lack of (缺乏) self-control and our body clock. Reported Huffpost.
According to a study carried out by a group of health psychologists at Utrecht University in the Netherlands (荷兰)in 2014, bedtime procrastination is a common problem. In their study, 53 percent of the2, 400participants (参与者)said they didn't follow their sleep schedule (日程) , delaying (延迟) it at last twice a week.
It's found that they delayed bedtime not because they liked to stay up late, but they couldn't stop doing other trivial (琐碎的) things, which were keeping them up in he first place.
"People who generally have trouble fighting against temptations (诱惑) and sticking to their intentions (意图) are also more likely to delay going to bed, "Floor Kroese, a psychologist at Utrecht University, further explained to HuffPost.
Yet, according to scientists, lack of self-control is not the only thing to blame (责备) . Our body clock also plays an important role when it comes to bedtime.
In order to check the influence of the body clock on sleep, psychologists at Um University in Germany studied the sleep patterns (模式)of 108 people in February. It was found that those who get up late are more likely to postpone their bedtime than those who wake early every morning.
And more surprisingly, night owls (夜猫子) would go to bed late at the very beginning of the weekday, even though they had to get up early for work and school. It's their special body cock that plays a part in delaying their bedtime, reported Popular Science.

This year, Alice had a difficult time. She went to hospital twice. In November, I finally could get her back to her “home”.
Alice hoped that her daughter could come to visit her on Christmas Eve because she wanted to be with her family, like the old days. But her daughter was coming after Christmas, so she was very sad. I also felt sad because she would be alone on the holiday!
On Christmas Eve, I took her to a candlelight service (烛光礼拜) at church that night.
I didn’t take her to my church. I took her to the church in her old neighborhood. We got there early and I let her sit near the door, so people could see her when they came in. Soon some of her friends came to the church and they all talked to her and sat with her.

"I still have lots of dreams to go after, " Ma wrote in an open letter last year to announce his parting. "The world is big, and I am still young, so I want to try new things."
The 55-year-old businessman showed that he was ready for new things by arriving at his farewell party dressed up like a rock star.
In fact, his rags-to-riches story is a good example of doing something different. Visiting the United States in 1995, Ma saw the internet and had the idea of setting up his own trading website. In 1999, he founded Alibaba with a group of friends in a shared apartment, struggling for years to get it off the ground. With all the challenges, the company slowly brought e-commerce to China.

Olympic sports star Jackie Joyner-Kersee, who is believed to be a hero, warns young people to be careful of making athletes heroes. She hopes that if someone tries to copy her, it will be because she has achieved her goals by working hard. Joyner-Kersee says that a hero should be someone who has an influence on another person’s life.
Poet Maya Angelou believes that a hero encourages people to treat others well and to be concerned about the greater good. A hero should show politeness, courage, patience, and strength all the time. A hero should encourage others to follow him with actions that improve the world, even if only in small ways.
Author Daniel Boorstin suggests that, “Celebrities are people who make news, but heroes are people who make history.” Thus, if a person is truly worthy to be called a hero, he or she will not be soon forgotten.
We all need heroes. We need to be able to respect people who have been there, done that, and succeeded. Many times the greatest heroes are the people we deal with every day — relatives(亲戚), friends, and neighbors — who will keep going when it is easier to give up. The parent who puts her or his family ahead of herself or himself, the teacher who will make more money at another job but chooses to help others — all these people can be considered as heroes. A hero quietly and continuously sets a good example, an example that inspires others to follow.
