1. Facial Expressions
Your facial expression can influence your voice. For example, if you smile, your voice will sound warm and friendly, just the opposite, if you have an angry look on your face, it can make you sound unpleasant.
2. Volume
If you speak too loudly, you could sound angry. And if you speak too softly, it’ll be difficult to hear you. So, speak loudly enough to be heard clearly, but not so loud that you’re shouting.
3. Pace
The pace of your voice is how quickly you speak. And this can show how you feel. For example, an angry person might speak faster than normal. Or a downhearted person might speak very slowly. Try speaking a little more slowly than normal. This will make you sound confident, and it’ll make it easier for the other person to understand you.
4. Gestures
Gesturing can influence the tone of your voice. When you gesture, you bring more air into the lungs, which can make your voice sound warmer. Gestures are also useful to help you stress the right words or even find the words you need. The best thing about gesturing during a phone call is that no one can see what you’re doing, so you can gesture as wildly as you like!
5. Movement
If you’re feeling nervous, stand up and move around. It will reduce the nervousness in your body and help your voice to sound more confident.
6. Pauses (停顿)
Using pauses every now and then can help you to slow down. This will make you sound more confident and in control. Also, if you pause after giving some new information, it’ll give the other person time to understand it. At the same time, listen to how the other person uses pauses. They could tell you something about the speaker’s feeling. For example, when a speaker is really angry, he might use pauses and says, “I... am... so... angry...”

Today, more and more kids wear glasses before going to primary school. This is mainly because they spend so much time watching TV or playing computers for hours without a rest. However, we must do something to protect our eyes as they are important for us to see the world.
Love your eyes first. Every day, when we open our eyes, we can see lovely smiles of friends and parents, beautiful flowers and green trees. Without them, there is only darkness. It is like a house without any light. How important our eyes are!
Remember to rest your eyes. When you use the computer for an hour or two, it is time to stop to have a 30-minute rest. At school, you need to do eye exercise. Closing your eyes for resting is helpful, as well as looking at green trees or grasses. In this way, you will feel very comfortable. So do your eyes.
Have good habits. While writing homework and reading, it is important to keep a distance (距离) of 30cm between your eyes and the books. Don’t rub(揉搓) your eyes with dirty fingers. Before and after swimming, use eye drops at once. Eat something healthy for eyes, such as carrots, fish and eggs.

People with lower level of education have less sleep and lower sleep quality, according to the re-port Those with higher level of education may sleep longer and better.

Paper cutting is a kind of Chinese traditional art. It’s very popular in the countryside. The bright colors of red, green or light blue paper cutting create a happy atmosphere(氛围). So it is often found in weddings or festivals in China.
A thousand years ago, paper cutting was used for decoration (装饰品). Women in the Tang Dynasty used paper cutting as the headdress (头饰). In the Song Dynasty, it was the decoration of the gifts. People put it on windows or doors or used it as decorations on walls, mirrors or lanterns.
Paper cutting is all made by hand. Learners need only a knife and some paper. For craftsmen (工匠), they need knives and different gravers (雕刻刀) to make special patterns (图案). Simple patterns are cut with a knife. For complicated (复杂的) patterns, people first pasted (粘贴) the pattern (图案) on the paper and then used different kinds of knives to make it. No mistake should be made during the process, otherwise the work would fail. Paper cutting covers nearly all subjects, from flowers, birds, animals, people in classic novels, to different kinds of facial make-up (脸谱) in Beijing opera.
In the past, women living in the countryside gathered in their free time to make paper cutting. As society develops, fewer and fewer people learn this skill. The duck was the now-famous Donald Duck, who first appeared in 1934 in the film The Wise Little Hen. Donald lived in an old houseboat(水上住家) and wore his sailor jacket and hat. Later that year he became a star after an eight-minute Mickey Mouse film. The cinema audience liked him because he was lazy and greedy(贪婪的),and because he lost his temper very quickly. And they loved his voice when he became angry with Mickey's eight nephews(侄子). Soon Donald was more popular than Mickey Mouse himself, probably because he wasn't a goody-goody like Mickey.
In the 1930s, Donald and his friends Mickey, Goofy and Pluto made hundreds of Disney cartoons. He also made educational films about the place of the USA in the world and safety in the home. Then in 1966 Donald Duck and his voice disappeared- there were no more new cartoons.

Great changes have taken place in towns that we have lived in for centuries, while completely new cities are being built. One such place is the city of Songdo. Every home there will have a “telepresence” system(远程遥控系统)—allowing users to control the heating and looks, take part in video meetings, and receive education, healthcare and government services. Around the city, escalators(自动扶梯) will only move when someone is on them, and offices and schools will all be connected to the system.
The great mind behind Songdo is from the company Cisco. In fact, technology companies around the world such as IBM, Siemens and Microsoft are already in the business.
About 75% of the world’s population will live in cities by 2050, so cities will need to be more modern to deal with the coming problems. “Making cities smarter is one way out, and I think this will in turn make cities greener,” said Dan Hill, head of a research company.

From Disney's earliest cartoon films, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, to more recent (最近的) ones like Frozen, many Disney movies lack moms. In Disney movies, Mom is killed like Bambi's mom or simply never appears like in The Little Mermaid. Disney movie fans may wonder the reason for this strange fact.
Many people think that the lack of mothers in Disney movies has something to do with the death of Walt Disney's mother in the early 1940s. Many people think that Walt put sadness over his mother's death into his films. However, many of his movies before his mom's death also lacked moms. Hahn said the lacking of mothers is a way to bring out the themes (主题) like growing up in the short movie time. Many movies were made long after Walt's death, like Beauty and the Beast. In these films, main characters lose or leave their parents and they have to grow up and become strong.
