What do you think of black cats? Are they unluckier than cats of other colors? Many people in Western countries think so.Scientists at the University of California,Berkeley (UC Berkeley),did a study on cat colors and people's understandings of cat personalities.
The study found that people do judge(判断) cat personalities by color.Scientists did a survey on the Internet. There were 49statements (描述) matching five cat colorings with 10personalities.People think orange and bi-colored (双色的) cats are friendly,tri-colored (三色的) cats are not generous, and white cats are calm, lazy and shy.As for black cats, people think they don't have special personalities.
But why do so many people dislike keeping black cats as pets?People think black cats have less special personalities, which might be because of their bad reputation (口碑).They think black cats may bring bad luck, especially at Halloween.Movies and television shows also make people believe that.
Although people have these ideas,UC Berkeley scientists give another reason:people don't think black cats are pretty enough. After all, nothing can show black cats are unluckier than other cats."You can't judge a cat by its color, because it's the personality of the cat,not the color, that will let you know if the cat is right for you,"Cathy Marden,a scientist said.

The film talks about minimalism, a style that supports the idea of “less is more”, while also questioning the thought that material things bring happiness. The principles* of minimalism show how we can take a serious look at the ways we spend money to live a more purpose-driven, joyful life.

A recent study carried out by Northwestern University shows that people who place greater value on material things have a higher chance of becoming low-spirited. People buy more, earn more in order to buy more, create more stress earning more, and are more likely to be low-spirited because of stress.

Minimalism presents a way out from that. Rather than working to buy more, we can spend less. It focuses on things that improve our lives, serve a purpose, and bring happiness.

Minimalists tell us we can use minimalism in all areas of life: relationships, technology, social media ... It means using not only our money, but our time and attention purposefully so we fill our lives with things that bring us happiness. Minimalism helps avoid things like spending too much or mindlessly checking your phones. It is all about the reexamination of your priorities so you can remove the extra things—the possessions, relationships and activities —that are of little value.

For each of us, different things have their own value. If some artwork brings some meaning to your life, great! If Saturday rides make you happy, then go for it. The minimalist lifestyle won’t look the same for everyone. You can bring more happiness into your life by slowly testing what you can live with and what you can live without. In the end, minimalism is about creating the freedom to enjoy a happier life.

It’s a popular belief that fish can’t remember anything for longer than seven seconds.

It may seem sad to think that they don’t remember what they’ve eaten or where they’ve been, and they don’t know you or any of their friends—every moment in their life would be like seeing the world for the first time.

But don’t be so quick to feel sorry for them. A recent study has found that fish have much better memories than we used to think. In fact, certain kinds of fish can even remember events from as long as 12 days ago, BBC reported.

In the study, researchers from MacEwan University in Canada trained a kind of fish called African cichlids (丽鱼科鱼) to go to a certain area of their tank (鱼缸) to get food. They then waited for 12 days before putting them back in the tank again.

This suggested that they could remember their past experiences. Researchers used computer software to watch the fish’s movements. They found that after such a long break the fish still went to the same place where they first got food.

In fact, scientists had been thinking for a long time that African cichlids might have a good memory. An earlier study showed that they behaved aggressively in front of certain fish, perhaps because they remembered their past fights. But until the latest findings, there was no clear evidence (证据).

Just as a good memory can make our life easier, it also plays an important part when a fish is trying to live on in the wild.

“If fish are able to remember that a certain area has safe food, they will be able to go back to that area without putting their lives in danger.” lead researcher Trevor Hamilton told Live Science.

1. A popular belief is mentioned at the beginning of the article to ________.
A.explain why fish have a bad memory
B.guide readers to the topic of the article
C.show fish can remember their neighbors
D.introduce how fish improve their memory
2. According to the study at MacEwan University, fish ________.
A.remember what they’ve eatenB.like staying in the same tank
C.are smarter than we thoughtD.can learn something from man
3. The underlined word “aggressively” in Paragraph 6 might mean ________ in Chinese.
A.友好地B.得体地C.攻击性地D.礼貌地
4. What Trevor Hamilton said in the last paragraph tells us it’s ________.
A.important for fish to have a good memory
B.easy for fish to find a place with safe food
C.necessary for fish to remember their home
D.dangerous for fish to fight for their friends
