△When is the spring season?
Spring is the season succeeding winter and preceding summer. Spring refers to the season as well as to ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection, and regrowth. During spring an important celebration takes place: Easter Day. It varies between March 22 and April 25 in Western tradition, and between April 4 and May 8 in Eastern Christianity.
△What happens in spring?
Spring is a time when flowers bloom and trees begin to grow and reproduce. The days grow longer and the temperature in most areas becomes more temperate. You can also contemplate the melting of ice and thawing of the ground. The weather during this period becomes much sunnier while hibernating animals begin to come out of hibernation.
△What to do during the spring season?
There are so many things to do to enjoy spring:
☆Plan a holiday and make a trip, Vacations aren’t just for summer anymore!
☆Take a walk in a field of flowers.
☆Meditate: Contemplate and reflect on the beauty of nature. Forget the worries of everyday life and empty the mind. Concentrate on the sounds and the scent of nature.

Winter is cold, with piles of snow, When rain falls and no trees grow. For kids it’s the snow they desire, And cups of cocoa before the fire. When winter is gone, the grass grows, Roses and trees, light wind blows The bees are buzzing, the birds are singing, Sheep are grazing and cow bells are ringing. And then the sun starts to shine too brightly, It is so hot that fans are put on nightly. And then it’s off to the beach or pool, Where people swim about just to keep cool. Some big stores with toys may even have a pink floor for girls and a blue floor for boys. In fact, it is difficult to buy a toy for a girl that is not pink.
Some people think that too much pink is bad for girls. Sue Palmer, writer of Taxic Childhood, is very worried that most girls over the age of three are crazy about the color. According to some scientists, this happens for two reasons. Firstly, most companies offer too many products in pink. Also, many parents think their little daughter looks cute in pink. Sue Palmer says that girls at this age cannot make proper decisions by themselves, but the pink can affect (影响) the choices and the decisions they will make in the future.
Some parents are worried too—for example, Vanessa Holburn, thirty-two, who has two girls under the age of four. Their bedrooms are a sea of pink and Vanessa is not happy. “Pink says that you are soft and gentle. Blue says that you are strong and powerful. I want my daughters to be strong and powerful. I’m worried that pink will not help them with that,” she says.
But not everyone thinks there’s something wrong with pink. Grayson Turner is a father of three girls and he isn’t worried at all. “People forget that things change all the time,” he says. “My girls used to love pink when they were little, but as they get older, they change.” Tumer explains that his twelve-year-old daughter never wears pink clothes anymore. “This love of pink is just a fashion and all fashions change,” he adds. “It’s only since the 1940s that people have started dressing girls in pink—before that it was a color for boys.”

Some schools just give students some comments (评语) in a card where teachers describe the skills a student needs to work on without giving letter grades such as A or exact numbers.
These schools give their reasons. The grades don’t say much about which skills a student has learned. What’s more, it stops the parents from comparing their children with others. In fact, they think that worse grades just mean you are having trouble with it. A teacher’s comment usually gives more information. Besides, it can avoid hurting children’s pride.
Many students feel happy because they don’t need to be compared with others. More importantly, they don’t need to feel upset if their grades are not that good. Many parents also feel that the letter grades or number grades are out of date. It time to change.
In fact, the grades or ranking (排名) of an exam can’t show that a student is a “good” one or a “bad” one. Students should pay close attention to the teachers’ comments instead of grades. They will guide students in the steps to improve.

Michael Norton's book 365 Ways to Change the World is a good starting point. The book gives an idea or task for every single day of the year. The tasks include offering to work at a local homeless shelter (庇护所) and planting a tree.
The book says that one simple act, no matter how small, can help someone in need. It may even influence (影响) other teens to do something.
Nathan Anthony, a student at Maple High School in Modesto, California, US, agrees. “It is impossible to get anything in life without giving something to someone or working hard at school or workplace," Anthony said.
Another Maple student, Ariane Mota, has the same idea." Giving is our way of repaying those who help us," she said." Whether it is a helping hand or a donation, we should help others to make their day or life better."
But how often do teens see peers (同龄人) helping a stranger or doing something nice for someone?
According to Anthony, not a lot. He and Mota both believe this needs to be changed.
"I help my friends by telling them that their lives are better than those poorer people," Anthony said." Humor is also a great tool."
So whether you're helping to find a cure (疗法) for bad illness or simply smiling at a stranger, do something every day to help change the world for the better.

There have been a number of studies on this subject, but none of the studies say that positive thinking is a factor(因素) in helping cancer go away, or that negative feelings can make cancer worse.
So, is there a reason to have a positive attitude? Of course there is.
While I understand the danger of my illness, I choose not to focus on statistics(数据统计). I always imagine myself as being among the smaller group of patients who survive. Why do I do that? So I can sleep well; so I can plan a trip for two days from now; so I have a reason to begin writing another book with the expectation that I'll finish it; so my husband and I can enjoy lunch out; so I can reach out to someone else who's having a difficult time and offer them encouragement.
A positive attitude can also help family members feel better so they can contribute to a more loving family environment. Most cancer patients, as well as their family members, know all too well how dangerous cancer can be.
It's difficult to carry on when patients receive bad news. But a positive attitude helps me want to do things that I know are good for my health, and helps me through the thinning hair, tiredness and low blood counts which are the side effects of my treatment.
So, I prefer to stay happy and positive. I do my best not to think too much about all the hospital visits, and I try not to panic if I feel any pain. Instead, I seek joy as much as I can, and because I am seeking joy, I find joy. Being positive might not save you from cancer, but I can almost guarantee(保证) you that if you are positive, you will find meaning in your life, as well as happiness in every day that you live.
1. According to the first two paragraphs, studies show that ________.A.positive thinking can save patients from cancer |
B.negative thinking is very likely to make cancer worse |
C.positive thinking cannot help patients get rid of cancer |
D.one's attitude has a direct effect on cancer |
A.she was sure she would survive |
B.she tried to enjoy her life and help others |
C.she refused to go through painful treatment |
D.she was quite troubled by the seriousness of her illness |
A.makes cancer treatment less painful for patients |
B.makes it much easier for people to accept bad news |
C.prepares family members for what may happen next |
D.helps create a good environment for patients |
A.tell patients how to fight against illness |
B.explain the danger of cancer to readers |
C.stress the importance of a positive attitude |
D.help readers find meaning and happiness in life |
