5 . Sunshine For All

The Beijing Sunshine Secondary School students are holding a charity show at the school hall of Beijing Sunshine Secondary School, Sunny Street, Sunshine Town.

8 . Sunshine Old People’s Home is a happy family for the elders. There _______ five hundred old people. The nurses _______ care of them day and night. Have you ever done or thought about volunteering before? Volunteering means spending time and effort (精力) to help somebody or something. As for me, I’ve volunteered at an animal shelter (收容所) to help feed and t    1     dogs for a walk.

Back in 2021, some friends and I went to an animal shelter outside of Beijing. There, I was able to p    2     animals with some food. There were not only dogs at the shelter, however. I saw many kinds of other animals as w    3    , such as foxes and chickens.

Our main p    4     was to help the dogs by giving them walks. Many of the dogs stayed in big cages (笼子) along with other dogs and a    5     from a big bowl together. I felt a bit sad for the dogs b    6     many of them looked old and needed a bath.

At that time, I needed to give one of the dogs a good walk and made sure it was in excellent c    7    . I remember it was a big black dog w    8     curly hair. The dog was very cute, but it did not want to walk very far. When I took out a tennis ball to play fetch (捡球), it really enjoyed the game. I couldn’t help l    9     when watching the dog run through a group of ducks trying to get the ball back.

All in all, volunteering for the dog shelter is helpful for both the workers and the dogs. It has b    10     me love and pleasure. You should try volunteering at an animal shelter too. I highly recommend (推荐) it!
