1 . After arriving in New Jersey, US, for a one-year cultural exchange program (交换项目), I found that many people there love Chinese culture. I felt like sharing our culture with them, so I built a tai chi club for kids. My tai chi program lasted for 10 weeks, giving classes every Tuesday.

I have been in some cultural exchange programs before, but I have never worked with such little kids. It was a little difficult for me at first. Kids are very noisy and active. I had to spend most of my time taking control of the class. Surely, in the beginning, we could only go over a few gestures (招式) during each class.

However, as the class went on, we got along well with each other. Slowly, I found the fun and sense of achievement (成就感) from the kids instead of their worries and tiredness. Nothing made me happier than seeing their smiles after learning a new gesture. I could sense their interest in learning Tai chi.

I have learned a lot from this experience (经历). I knew that it was important to unite the whole class and encourage kids to help each other when they meet difficulties. I will try my best to spread tai chi culture here.

4 . Some people like breakfast. They think it’s very important. Some people love lunch because it’s time for them to have a rest. And some like dinner. They go home and cook their favorite food.

For Jessica, she loves breakfast. Her mother always makes her favorite food donuts（甜面包圈） for breakfast. Jessica always says her mother’s donuts are great and full of love. She usually eats one at home. But these days, she also takes one to school.

“You can’t eat too many donuts, Jessica. You can get fat,” her mother says.

“This one is not for me, but for Molly. Molly is my good friend. She doesn’t have money to buy food for breakfast. You always say breakfast is important, right? I want Molly to have a good breakfast, too. You are not angry with me, are you?” Jessica says. “No, my dear, I’m not angry. I am happy because my daughter is really kind.”

Once there was a businessman who was really deep in debt (债务). He was not able to think of any way to get out of debt. So one day, he sat down in the park, to think about how he could save his company from bankruptcy. While he was sitting there, an old man appeared, sat down next to him and said, “I can see that something is troubling you…”

The businessman was sad and depressed, so he told the old man everything about his problem. After hearing the sad story of the businessman, the old man smiled and replied. “I believe I can help you.”

The old man put his hand into his pocket, took out a cheque (支票) book and asked the businessman his name. Then, he gave a cheque o the businessman and said, “Take this money. Meet me here, after one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time.”

After giving that cheque, the old man got up and walked away. The businessman had mixed feelings. He looked at the cheque and saw that it was a cheque of $ 500,000 signed by stead Warren Buffet (one of the richest men in the world). He couldn’t believe how lucky he was.

The businessman realized that with half of this he could easily get out of debt, but instead of using the cheque to pay his debt, he decided to put that cheque in his safe and to use it only in case of emergency.

From then on, he started reconstructing his business and worked really hard with full zeal (热情) and enthusiasm. Over time, he even made several big deals. And, after only a few months the businessman got out of debt and started making profit again!

One year passed since the day the businessman met the old man, and as promised he returned to the park, with the same cheque the old man gave him. As agreed, the old man also appeared. The businessman was very happy to see the old man and told him his success story.

When the businessman was about to return the cheque to the old man, however, a nurse ran over to them and grabbed the old man by his hand, while saying to the businessman, “I am so glad I caught him…I hope he hasn’t been bothering you much. He always escapes from the psychiatric (精神病的) hospital and tells people he is Warren Buffet.” Then, the nurse said goodbye and left, together with the old man.

The businessman was stunned (震惊的).

7 . I was a single parent of four small children, working at a low-paid job. Money was always tight, but we had all r    1     over our heads, food on the table, clothes on our backs, and if not a lot, always e    2    . Not knowing we were poor, my kids just thought I was very s    3    . I’ve always been glad about that.

It was Christmas time, and although there wasn’t money for a lot of gifts, we planned to celebrate with a family party. But the big     4     (excite) for the kids was the fun of Christmas shopping.

10 . Song county（县）lies in the city of Luoyang, one of the poorest counties in China, but as     1     as people got a chance to help others they did so without hesitation（犹豫）.
