Every year, on the second Saturday in September, people celebrate World First Aid Day. It’s a day to raise awareness (意识) about how important first aid is. Technology not only makes our lives more convenient. it can also save lives. Let’s look at some technological inventions that are helping save lives.

Smart app

If someone needs first aid, even if you call an ambulance straight away, you may need to wait a while. There is often traffic on the roads. Some people in the US made an app called PulsePoint. It invites ordinary people trained in CPR (心肺复苏术) to use it. The app knows the users’ locations. If someone needs first aid nearby, a user will get a message asking them to help.

Magic gel

The gel (凝胶) called Vetigel is magic! It can stop someone bleeding in just 10 seconds, said the website Medical Device Network, The gel is made from plants. It can stick to a wound and help seal (密封) it. It was invented more than 10 years ago but was only allowed to be used on animals. Now in the US, it has been allowed to be used on humans, too. And get this: according to CGTN, the person from the US was only 17 years old when he invented it!

Flying aid

If people get injured or need help in hard-to-reach areas, drones (无人机) can be of great use. Because they can fly, drones can often offer help faster than people. And they can also make helping people safer for rescuers working in dangerous conditions. The drones can have a camera that can watch your health. They can also carry useful things, like blankets or a life vest (救生衣) to save someone from drowning (溺水).

“Ana! Milk!” Mama called.

Ana had to close her first-aid book and walked to the farmland on the mountain. Somewhere down the mountain, she saw several volunteer doctors training village nurses, and Leta was there too. “She should take me there to ________ something with them.” Ana thought. “She always thinks I’m too ________, but I’m already 15! ”

9 . When accidents, such as car accidents, serious illnesses or natural disasters (灾难), happen to someone, what should we do?

Maybe calling 120 is the first action for most people! However, sometimes two or three minutes can make people lose their lives. But when someone around knows a little about first aid (救助), just two or three minutes can also save a person’s life. So, if we can call for help quickly before the doctor arrives, maybe we can keep ourselves and others safe. Here is some advice.

Face the situation calmly. That is to say, no matter what kind of accident happens, keep calm first. Then you need to think about the following questions: Is there still any danger? How to find the way to help?

Save life before going to the hospital and give first aid. When an accident happens, ask for help first. Call the rescue (救援) phone number, such as 120, 119 and 110. And you can call on more people around to join you.

When waiting for rescue, we should try our best to help the people. At the same time, we should try our best to make them feel less painful.
