Black-faced spoonbills (黑翅长脚鹬), a rare and endangered species, were seen at Dongting Lake in Hunan province for the first time in five years. The number of spoonbills has increased from 300 in the 1980s to more than 5,000 in 2023, according to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.

Some parents complain that their children’s teachers are giving students homework on phones.
