A drone is light and portable. This makes it possible to reach high places in a very short time and we can put it in a bag easily.
We can use drones in many ways. For example, Mei Tuan Takeout uses drones to send food to people’s offices. This helps save delivery (投递) time. Farmers can use drones to help with their farming. They can find out if the crops (庄稼) are growing well at different times of a day, so a farmer can look after more land (土地). Scientists are also using underwater drones to get information on CO2 in the sea. It’s the newest way to study the sea and improve its environment.
Drones can even serve people coffee. A company has made this kind of drone. The drone can know when to bring a cup of coffee by studying a person’s living habits. Then, the drone will fly to the person. There is a special device (设备) under the drone. It helps the drone to give people the coffee. A team of scientists are carrying out a project at the University of Greenwich in London. They are trying to find ways to make food on Mars in the future. The project is called Feeding Mars. It tries to use water, fish and fish waste to grow fruit and vegetables on Mars.
It would take at least 21 months to reach Mars, learn about its surface and return to Earth. So it would be a big help if the spacemen could grow fresh food on Mars itself. However, farming on Mars will be very hard. There’s a lot of water that could be taken from ice just below the surface, but the land on Mars is short of the nutrients that living things need. The team says that they could solve the problem by growing plants and fish together. Fish waste can then be used to provide nutrients for plants.
“It is expected that you can grow lots of food, such as vegetables, tea and medicinal plants on Mars,” said Dr. Benz Kotzen, who leads the project. “You can even harvest fish for food then.”

Have you ever seen a train that is hung in the air? Such a train has appeared in Chengdu already.
The train is powered by lithium batteries (锂电池) instead of electricity. It is not only energy-saving but also environmentally friendly compared to other trains. Each coach will be able to carry up to 120 passengers.
The train has done its test without any problem a short time ago. But further tests will be done to check the train’s ability to turn and climb up the tracks before it can be open to the public.
Chengdu is the first city in our country to build such a train system, and Shanghai will also open one this year. Shanghai started plans for its “Skytrain” in 2015.
The “Skytrain” in Shanghai will run above the ground at a height of around six meters. The columns which will support the railway will be just 80 cm wide. The columns are so narrow that they could even be built in the green belt in the middle of the road. The train Shanghai plans to use will have just four coaches (车厢), and each coach will hold 70 passengers. The train will run at around 30 kilometers per hour. It will be a little slower than the city’s subway trains, which run between 30 and 40 kilometers per hour.
