Write eight or ten words on a piece of paper and put it in our bedroom. Try to remember them. Spell the words whenever we see them, and change them every day. 文章大意:本文主要介绍了机器人作家ChatGPT,文中介绍了它的强大之处,也介绍了它带来的一些问题。

5 . Type in “A cat wants to go to space” and ask the robot to write a bedtime story. Just one second later, you’ll get the story of Max, who got over many difficulties to sing among the stars.

This robot writer is called ChatGPT. US company OpenAI developed it. The technology chats in a conversational way, answering questions from the Internet user. It can translate languages, talk with people and write songs, poems and even jokes. It’s one of the most powerful AI robots of its kind.

The power of ChatGPT lies in its speed and understanding of complicated (复杂的) matters. We may spend hours researching, understanding and writing an article on the theory of evolution (进化论). But ChatGPT can produce a well-written one in seconds. Another good thing about it is that if you ask dark, harmful questions, for example, how to make weapons (武器), it will not give you an answer.

However, ChatGPT also brings some problems. The materials (材料) they create are difficult to tell from those made by humans. This causes many problems, such as the copyright (版权) problem and the definition (定义) of art. It could also result in many translators and writers losing their jobs or being paid much less, as their skills are no longer something companies need.

It’s too soon to say what kind of influence ChatGPT will have on our lives. Let’s hope that, if ChatGPT does become bigger and more popular, its effects are mostly positive.

1. The cat story in Paragraph 1 was written to ________.
A.introduce a brave catB.show what ChatGPT can do
C.introduce some booksD.show how robots read stories
2. What do we know about ChatGPT?
A.It can only write songs.
B.It can do a lot of work in space.
C.It can give an answer to any question.
D.It can chat with the Internet user.
3. What does the underlined word “one” in Paragraph 3 refer to (指代)?
A.An article.B.A poem.C.A joke.D.A story.
4. What’s Paragraph 4 mainly about?
A.The future of ChatGPT.B.The advantages of ChatGPT.
C.The disadvantages of ChatGPTD.The development of ChatGPT.
5. What can be the best title for the text?
A.A Bedtime Story by AIB.A Superfast Writing Robot
C.Good Things AI Can DoD.A Care-providing Robot

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。主要讲述了有哪些能源可以代替汽油。

6 . We’ve been driving around in gas (汽油)—powered cars for over 100 years. Once we run out of all the oil from the earth, we can’t make more. Is it time for a change?

Biofuel

One simple way to use less gas is to fill up with biofuel, a fuel (燃料) made from plants. Biofuels can be brewed (酿制) from corn, wheat stems or other plant waste. Even old cooking oil can be turned into diesel, a fuel used in trucks. Most cars can’t run only on biofuel, so it’s mixed with gas. But every little bit helps!

Go electric

An electric car has an electric motor that runs on batteries, which come in a big pack. Instead of filling up the tank, an electric car owner plugs (插) it into an outlet to recharge (充电). What happens when the batteries run down? You need to find somewhere to plug in. It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 8 hours to recharge an electric car. That’s not as handy as a quick stop at a gas station.

Hybrid (gas + electric)

A hybrid car has two engines—one uses gas and the other uses electricity. For short trips, it turns on batteries like an—electric car. But if the batteries are low, the car can change to the gas engine. This can be a good choice for people who are worried about the batteries running out halfway through a trip. But when the car burns gas, it still gives off waste gases like a regular car.

Solar power

Could we use the sun to power cars? Some car companies are working on it. A solar car has an electric motor that runs on batteries. But instead of being plugged in, the batteries are recharged by the solar panels (太阳能板) on the car’s roof and body. To charge up, you just need to park the car in the sun! But making solar panels and batteries that are powerful enough to move a car is very expensive. It might take a good bit of time before solar cars are available to the general public.

Other baby animals can walk soon after they’re born. They learn to run with their mothers when danger is near. A baby zebra can run, an hour after it is born.

Some baby animals are born in a place that is safe. Baby wolves are usually born in big holes with little light. Other baby animals are born in the open. A baby elephant is often born on open land.

Animals that drink their mothers’ milk are called mammals. A mother bear’s milk is rich. Baby bears have milk for a few months. This is the same with baby zebras. As baby animals grow, they need solid (固体) food. Baby lions eat what their mother can catch!
