文章大意:本文主要介绍了写日记和写博客的相同点和不同点,最后作者表明他更喜欢写日记。
1 . Answer the questions. (根据短文内容回答问题)

Years ago, if a teenager had some problems in his or her daily life, he or she might write them in the diary. However, now a teenager with the same problems might go online and write them in a blog. In many ways, a diary and a blog are almost the same. They both tell what happened to the writer that day. So what makes a blog different from a diary?

The biggest difference is that a blog is for much more people to read than a diary. When I was my sister’s age, I wrote about the same things in my diary. And I would put my diary in a safe place because I was afraid that others might read it.

Now people choose to write in blogs because they know their friends will read what they write. If my sister writes in her blog “Nobody cares about me”, her best friends will quickly read and tell her how much they like her.

If people are caring about what they write, blogs are a very good way to write about the everyday life. However, I still like my old diary better.

文章大意:本文主要针对“开车时系安全带可以保护我们的安全”这一观点,John Adams给出了自己的观点:安全带让人们感觉安全,但是我们感觉越安全,实际情况就越危险。
3 . Choose the best answer (根据短文内容,选择最恰当的答案)

Everybody knows that we should fasten our seat belts when we are driving a car. They keep us safe. But is it really so? John Adams, a scientist from the University College London does not agree with that common idea.

According to Adams, the death number in road accidents does not become smaller while the government asks people to use seat belts by law. It just stays the same or becomes even larger.

How can that be? Through careful study, Adams has built the idea that people are more likely to act dangerously if they think they are safe. So, in driving, if people wear the seat belts, they will think they are safe and therefore drive dangerously. This caused more road accidents. Adams says that if we had a knife sticking out of our steering wheels (方向盘), we would be driving very slowly because we know it ‘s not safe to drive that way. In the same way, if we think we are protected by the seat belts, we will drive faster and do the things we will never do without a seat belt.

So, should we all drive without our seat belts from now on? It would be a joke (笑话)if we do so, but scientific numbers tell us we should also be more careful when driving with a seat belt on. The safer we feel, the more dangerous it actually is.

4 . 阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。

Nowadays, students in the first and second grades in primary schools in China start to get to school after eight a. m. But people have different ideas about this.

Most people think that starting school later is healthy for young students, because it’s difficult for them to get up early. What’s more, in the past the young students didn’t have much time for breakfast, so they either ate on the way to school or even had no breakfast. Jenny says, “I think it’s a good idea. I can get up later and have breakfast at home.”

But some parents want their children to get to school early. Why?

First, the parents are afraid that they cannot get to work on time. A lot of students go to school in their parents’ cars. After their parents drive them to school, there will be more cars and buses on the busy street later. That’s not a good time to drive.

Second, the parents think it is not good for the children’s growth(成长), because children have to get up early when they go to middle school. “So getting up late in primary school can make middle school days difficult.” says the mother of the 6-year-old boy Liangliang.

1. When do students in the first and second grades arrive at school?

2. Where does Jenny have breakfast?

10 . Do you want to live a happier, less stressful(有压力的) life? Try laughing for no reason at all. That’s how millions of people start their day at Laughter(笑声) Clubs around the world and many doctors now think that having a good laugh might be one of the best ways to stay healthy.

The first Laughter Club was started in Mumbai, India, in 1995 by Dr. Madan Kataria.“Young children laugh about 300 times a day. Adults laugh between 7 and 15 times a day,” says Dr. Kataria. “Everyone is naturally good at laughing — it’s the common language. We want people to feel happy with their lives.” There are now more than 500 Laughter Clubs in India and over 1,300 in the world.

Many doctors are also interested in the effects(效果) of laughter on our health. According to a 5-year study at the UCLA School of Medicine in California, with laughing there is less stress in the body. Laughter improves our health against illness by about 40%.

So what happens at a Laughter Club? I went along to my nearest club in South London to find out. I was quite nervous at the beginning of the class, to be honest, I wasn’t interested in laughing with a group of strangers, and I was worried about looking silly. Our laughter teacher told us to clap our hands and say “ho ho ho, ha ha ha” while looking at each other. However, our bodies can’t tell the difference between real laughter and unreal laughter, so they still produce the same healthy effects.

Surprisingly, it works! After ten minutes everybody in the room was laughing for real and some people just couldn’t stop! At the end of the class I was surprised by how relaxed and comfortable I felt. So if you’re under stress, then start laughing. You might be very pleased with the results.

1. The first Laughter Club was started in __________.
A.IndiaB.AmericaC.BritainD.China
2. How many Laughter Clubs are there in the world today?
A.Over 300.B.Over 500.C.Over 800.D.Over 1,300.
3. How did the writer feel at the beginning of the class?
A.Surprised.B.Pleased.C.Nervous.D.Tired.
4. When did the people in the club begin to laugh for real?
A.After ten minutes.B.After ten hours.
C.After ten seconds.D.After ten days.
5. The article mainly tells us __________.
A.young children laugh much more often than adults in a day
B.laughing is one of the best ways to stay healthy
C.many doctors are also interested in the effects of laughter on our health
D.real laughter and unreal laughter are both good for health
