Would you like to help people in need? On March 31, 2022, there was an accident (事故) in Guangzhou, Guangdong.

At about 6:00 pm, a bus left the bus stop. Just at that time, an electric (电动的) bicycle ran into the back of the bus. Unluckily, one of the biker’s hands went under a left wheel (车轮) of it.

A lot of people saw the accident. They quickly came around the bus to move it. As time went by, more and more people joined them. They tried their best to help the man. “People kept coming to help. It was all about saving the person first,” a man said. The bus was over 10,000 kg. But thanks to the helpers, the biker got free very soon. People took him to the hospital quickly.

Later, someone put a video (视频) of people working together to help the electric bike rider on the Internet. Lots of people across the country watched it and they felt happy. They showed thanks to those people. They said, “Many hands make light work, as the old saying goes.”

2 . Remember the story called The Thirsty Crow（口渴的乌鸦）? A smart thirsty crow succeeds in getting water by dropping stones in a bottle. A piece of news in Sweden turns out the story is true.

The news says a Swedish company called Corvid Cleaning is training wild crows to pick up cigarette butts（烟蒂）from the streets of Södertälje, a city not far from Stockholm.

Trash is bad for the environment in many ways. For example, animals (both on land and in the ocean) often mistake trash for food and eat it. Sometimes they even die because of that. Cigarettes are one of the most dangerous forms of trash.

________ Through a machine. The crows are trained to put the cigarette butts into the machine. If the machine makes sure the thing is a cigarette butt after scanning（扫描）it, the crows will get food from it as a reward（回报）. Sounds interesting, right?

According to Christian Günther-Hanssen, the founder of the company, with crows’ help, they don’t need to spend so much on the cigarette butts cleanup. “Crows are known to be one of the smartest animals in the world. They’re easier to teach. At the same time, there’s a lower risk of them eating any trash by mistake,” Christian said.

The crows for the cleaning job are still living in the wild, and they are free to stop the project at any time. If they keep coming back to Corvid Cleaning’s machine with dirty cigarettes, they must be enjoying the food there.

5 . A British teenager becomes the youngest person to sail alone (独自航行) across the Atlantic Ocean. Michael Perham’s journey (旅行) across the Atlantic Ocean was full of surprises. He once saw a big group of sharks. His boat suddenly didn’t work one morning. And even the flying fish jumped into his boat.

With lots of difficulties, the teenager from Hertfordshire, England, made his dream come true. In January 2007, at age 14, Michael became the youngest person to cross the Atlantic Ocean alone.

“It feels great when I’m back on dry land,” Michael told BBC News after his journey.

Michael started his trip in November 2006. He began his journey from Gibraltar, on the southern coast of Spain, and got on his sailboat Cheeky Monkey. With his dad following in another boat, Michael finished the 3500-mile journey, arriving in Antigua, an island (小岛) in the Caribbean Sea.

During his journey at sea, Michael wrote down his stories on his blog. One evening he watched a school of dolphins jump through waves. And on another morning a flying fish landed in his lap. “It’s a good feeling when you are on the open sea and there is no land in sight.” he wrote as he watched the sunset near the Cape Verde Islands.

When Michael arrived in Antigua, many people came to congratulate (祝贺) him. “Many cameras and microphones are around me, and people are asking me questions, and, wow, it’s unbelievable (难以置信的).” he wrote.
