1 . We have many activities at our school. This month is October. Sports Day is in October. We have a basketball game and a volleyball game. In the middle of this month, we have an English test during the English Day. On October 19th, we have a school trip, we go to Beijing with the teachers. On the last day of this month, there is a music festival. On that day we can enjoy beautiful songs, dancing, and piano music. It is really wonderful. Next month, we only have an art festival. Students often display(展示) their pictures.

Running is good for people with too much fat because it can help them become slim. It also makes people strong. But it may be bad for joints(关节). If we don't feel comfortable in our joints, we should stop for another activity.

Walking

Walking makes our bodies relaxed(放松的). It can also help people to be slim.

Swimming

Swimming is a great way to make different places of your body strong. But it is not a good way to keep slim. The water in a swimming pool is cooler than our body. The body protects(保护)itself from the cold by keeping fat.

Cycling

Riding a bike will help us be slim and make our legs strong, too. But be careful! If you live in the city, you should ride on the bike road and be away from the busy traffic.

6 . A single mother of three children is celebrating a big event in her life: passing the bar exam.

Leshia Champs, 33, got her law degree at Texas Southern University in April. She also became popular online when she shared graduation photos of herself and her kids on Facebook, which spread quickly.

On Monday, she posted a letter, which said she had passed the exam on Facebook.

“People all counted me out, but God counted me in,” she wrote on Facebook. “And I succeeded!”

According to her letter, she will need to finish her licensing process in order to become a practicing lawyer in Texas.

Champs said in April that she had been dreaming of being a lawyer since a young age, even though she experienced countless hardships throughout her life. When she was young, her parents died in a car accident, and things just went from there. When she had just given birth to her third baby, her home was destroyed by a fire and her husband died of cancer.

“Things were really difficult after my husband's death I really didn't know what to do. I was a mother and I needed to raise my three children alone.”

But Champs said her success is thanks to her children, who often helped her as she was studying to get her degree.

“When I look at the pictures, I cry, I smile, and I'm very grateful,” Champs said. “I see a woman who at one time knew that it seemed impossible for her to succeed. Looking at that picture reminds me of the fact that I did make an impossible dream come true.

7 . Sue has a cat. She likes playing with it at home. But she’s seven now and her parents ask her to go to school. She has to leave it at home and walk to school by herself, so she isn’t happy. She doesn’t listen to her teacher carefully. So she can’t answer the questions.

Now the students are having math class. She is looking out of the window. Mr. Green asks, “What is two plus( 加) two, Sue?” Sue stands up and she can’t answer it.

“If your mother gives you two pencils.” Mr. Green says.“And I give you two, how many pencils do you have?”

“Five, Mr. Green.”

“You are wrong,”     Mr. Green says. “You have four.”

“I don’t think so,” the girl says. “I already have one in my pencil box!”

8 . This is a room in Alice’s house. There is a big bed, a table, a computer and some chairs in it. There is a glass and some books on the table. There is a picture on the wall. Alice is in the room. She is looking at the picture. Her father and mother are in the factory and they work hard.

9 . Hi, I'm Nancy. Today is Saturday. I go to a big supermarket with my friend Emma. The supermarket is near my home. It is very big and it has a restaurant. We have lunch at the restaurant. I eat some dumplings, fish and eggs. Emma has some rice, vegetables and fish.

After lunch, we go to the present shops and toy (玩具) shops. We want to buy something for our friend Mona. She will go to America and live there with her grandparents. Mona likes teddy bears (泰迪熊) very much. We buy a big teddy bear in a toy shop. The teddy bear can speak, sing and dance. It wears nice clothes. We think Mona will love it. It is 260 yuan.

Then Emma buys a cap (帽子) for her mother. It's 56 yuan. I buy a toy car for my brother. It's 60 yuan.

10 . Hello! I'm Evan Brown. I'm a student. I don't like vegetables or fruit. I like hamburgers and ice cream. They're nice. And my favorite drink is cola. So I'm very fat. I don't want to be so fat.
