1 . The battle against the novel coronavirus is on. What can we do to stay healthy? Here are some tips for you to stay away from the virus.

Don’t go to crowded places. If you have to, remember to wear a mask. Stay at least one meter away from other people, especially those who are coughing or sneezing. Wearing masks can stop droplets from hitting your face or mouth.

Open windows to let fresh air in during the day. Do it three times a day for 15 minutes to half an hour each time. Keeping the air indoor fresh can stop the virus from building up.

Stay in a good mood. People around the world are coming up with more creative ideas about what to sing. In Vietnam, they sing a pop song, “rub, rub, rub your hands”. 2 .

Airships can fly because they are lighter than air, like balloons. But they also have engines, so they can fly long distances. In the 1920s and 1930s, airships flew with passengers in them. They could fly from Europe to the US in two days. That was much faster than traveling by ship. There were even restaurants and bedrooms in the biggest airships, which could carry up to 100 passengers.

However, the safety of airships during that time was surely a big problem. It was reported that many of airships crashed. In 1937, a famous airship called the Hindenburg crashed near New York and thirty-six people died. After that, passenger airships stopped flying. Planes became the most important kind of air transportation because they were faster and safer.

Now a number of companies around the world are making airships again. They are much safer than the airships of the 1920s and 1930s, but they are not for passengers. Instead, they carry cargo.

Why use airships instead of planes? There are four main reasons:

●They don’t need airports. They can land in places where planes can’t.

●They can carry much more cargo than planes can.

●They use much less fuel than planes, so they are better for the environment.

●They can stay in the air for a long time, so they are good for scientific work.

Today most cargo still travels on planes, ships, trains and trucks. But in the future, much more cargo could travel by airship because it’s cheaper and better for the environment. Maybe there will be airships for passengers again too.

A.fall to piecesB.fly into sky

3. Why do people still use airships today?
A.They can fly without fuel.
B.They can take more passengers.
C.They have to land in the airports.
D.They are more friendly to the environment.
4. What’s the passage mainly about?
A.Useful airshipsB.Airships and planes
C.The history of airshipsD.The story of a famous airship

3 .

When I was a baby, I jumped and ran around you and made you laugh. Whenever I was “bad”, you’d shake your finger at me and ask “How could you? ”—but then you'd give up, and played with me and I thought that life could not be any more perfect.

My house training was a long process, because you were terribly busy, but we worked on that together. We went for long walks, runs in the park and car rides. We stopped for ice cream. I took long naps in the sun waiting for you to come home at the end of the day.

Gradually, you began spending more time at work, and more time searching for your human friend. Later, you fell in love. She, now your wife, is not a dog person, but I still welcomed her into our home. I was happy because you were happy. Then your babies came along and I shared your excitement, I was excited by their pinkness, how they smelled, and I wanted to look after them, too. Your wife was afraid I would bite them. However, as they began to grow, I became their friend.

Now, you have a new job in another city and you and they will be moving to an apartment that does not let pets in. You’ve made the right decision for your “family”, although I wish I could be your family all the time.

I was excited about the car ride until we arrived at the dog house. There were many fearing and hopeless cats and dogs in the cage. You filled out the paper and said to the staffs there, “I know you will find a good home for her.” They said nothing. The children were in tears as they waved me goodbye. And “How could you?” were the only three words in my mind.

Is it better to live with hope or without hope? At first, whenever anyone passed my dog house, I rushed to the front, hoping it was you, hoping you had changed your mind and hoping this was all a bad dream.

My owner, I will think of you and wait for you forever. I hope you receive more faithfulness from your family than you showed to me.

1. Who tells this story?

4. What is the main idea of the story?
A.Get ready for changes.B.Never ask for too much.
C.Always be positive about your life.D.Be faithful to those who love you.

4 . How can you remember a song from your childhood to this day? Why does your teacher use songs to teach you English? I seems there is a scientific reason for this.

Researchers are now studying the relationship between music and remembering a foreign language.

“Singing could be a new way of learning a foreign language. The brain likes to remember things when they are used in a catchy and meaningful way. For example, kids can learn difficult words quickly when they are put in a song.” said Dr. Karen Ludke. The findings may help those who have difficulties learning foreign languages. On his blog, Dr. Ludke writes, “A listen-and-repeat singing way can support foreign language learning and opens the door for future research in this area.”

Many language teachers know the importance of using music and singing. Hua Zhuying, a teacher at a Chinese language school in Washington, D. C. depends heavily on songs in teaching Chinese. She says, “I use music all the time to teach children Chinese. For little kids usually we use the music. Not only does it work, but it is fun for kids.”

“Sometimes I think if I learn English that way when I was young, maybe I could speak much better English than now. ”Hua Zhuying adds.

6 . The world has many beautiful sounds. We can hear the songs of birds and the laugh of people. We can listen to cool music and news reports. And it’s all because of our ears! They bring us a world of sounds.

7 . Online eating shows or Mukbang shows, come from South Korea, and are well-known all over the world.

Many hosts of such shows become popular for their ability to eat lots of food. But some people think it’s a waste (浪费) of food. While some hosts can eat so much food, some may fake it. They show eating a lot of food in front of the camera, but actually later threw it away.

To stop it, many video and live-streaming platforms (直播平台), including Douyin, Kuaishou and Bilibili, have stopped showing videos about food waste, and promoted (宣传) messages to “stop food waste and eat reasonably”. In June 2020, the United Nations warned that the world is facing the worst food shortage in 50 years. About a third of the world’s food, 1.3 billion tons, is wasted every year. In China alone, 50 million tons of food becomes rubbish every year.

Recently, campaigns (活动) against food waste have been further promoted. In August, President Xi stressed the need for having safe food and stopping food waste. Many restaurants have taken actions to control food waste. In Wuhan, restaurants ask customers to take the “N-1 mode”. For example, a group of ten diners should only order enough for nine people at first. More food is only brought to the table if they really need it. 8 . Sometimes going to sleep is boring. There’s so much more you want to do. But you will not feel well when you don’t have enough rest(休息). Some kids have problems with sleep. That’s called insomnia. Let’s talk about what to do if that happens to you.

Write in your diary before you go to bed. This practice clears your mind so you won’t have all those ideas crowding your brain(大脑)when you are trying to sleep.

Sleep in a dark, comfortable room. Lights tell your body that it’s time to get up, so you need to run away from it at night. But if you are really afraid of the dark, it’s OK to try a dim(昏暗的)night-light. And being hot or cold can easily keep you awake.

Don’t sleep with a pet. Your lovely dog or cat could keep you awake. As your pet makes noises, it could wake you from a peaceful sleep. Try sleeping without your pet for a few nights to see if you sleep better that way.

Don’t drink any coffee after 3:00 in the afternoon. Coffee might keep you awake.

Once you are lying in bed, try a peaceful mind exercise. For example, count numbers with your eyes closed.
