They began to fight. At last Peter hit Hook with his sword ( 剑 ). Hook began to bleed. Hook continued to fight, but he was not strong any more. He knew he was going to die. He ran to the side of the ship and jumped into the sea. He did not know the crocodile was waiting for him, as it no longer ticked. The crocodile swallowed him in one bite.

3 . It happened to me recently that I was telling someone how much I enjoyed reading Barack Obama’s Dreams from My Father and how it had changed my views of the former US president. The person I was talking to agreed with me that it was a wonderfully written book. However, he then went on to talk about Mr. Obama, which showed that he had no idea of his background at all. I realized that I was talking to a book liar.
______ Nearly two thirds of people have lied about reading a book which they haven’t read. In the World Book Day survey, Dreams from My Father is at number 9. The survey lists top ten books, and different writers, which people have lied about. As I don’t lie very often, I’ll admit (承认) that I haven’t read all the ten books. But I am pleased to say that I have read the book at number one, George Orwell’s 1984. I think it’s absolutely outstanding.
When people were asked why they lied, the most common reason was to impress someone they were speaking to. This could be difficult if the conversation went deeper!
The World Book Day survey also has some other interesting information in it. It shows that many people lie about having read classical works by Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Charles Dickens and so on. But when asked which writers they really enjoy, they named J.K. Rowling, Jilly Cooper, and Stephen King (ah, the big sellers). Forty-one percent of people asked said they turned to the back of the book to read the end before finishing the story.

4 . Just returned from a trip to New Jersey. On the way back, I was stopped by a traffic accident. This accident happened because of a truck carrying a lot of dangerous materials that were leaking out (外漏). After being told by the policeman that we would be sitting there until the clean-up was completed. We drivers got out of the truck to have a rest. I saw a Mississippi license on the truck. I asked what part of Mississippi they were from.Joe said they were from Biloxi. Knowing that Biloxi was damaged by a hurricane, I asked him about the disaster(灾难). Joe said that they had lost almost everything. Everything they had was in the truck.
Joe said that their son was living around Harrisonburg, Virginia and they were going there. There was a home for sale and they were going to start all over again there. Starting over at their age, we know, would not be easy

7 . The Beatles were one of the most successful and influential pop-music groups of the 1960s. The members include rhythm guitarist Lennon, bass guitarist McCartney, lead guitarist Harrison, and drummer Starr.
Lennon formed a band in Liverpool, England, while in high school in the mid-1950s. McCartney and then Harrison joined the group in the late 1950s.
