1 . There is great excitement and argument(争论)over Artificial Intelligence(AI, 人工智能). The argument about whether robots will replace teachers in the classroom is very heated. Some people think it is sure to happen in the next ten years. Others think that the value a good teacher brings, not only to the classroom setting. but in developing a child’s confidence and creativity outside lessons, cannot be easily replaced.

AI is not new for us and is already being used successfully in many fields, such as medicine, science and so on. So what does this mean for our future? In my view, AI will help kids to think more freely and creatively. Can AI possibly cut down the teaching work in the future, too? Of course. Our teachers are always busy preparing materials for their lessons, Just imagine how happy they would be if they don’t have to copy hundreds of paper, but instead, have this task or others done by machines.

However, most importantly, I do not believe AI will be able to imitate the human mental condition totally, especially emotional intelligence(情商). What makes learning unforgettable is shared experience, human interaction(互相作用), and long-lasting positive relationships. For example, experienced teachers can comfort a student if he has suffered a serious loss. But it hasn’t been proved that robots can imitate this well.

I also believe we need to continue to celebrate our kids’ personality and their ability not only to make decisions but also make the right decisions. These are skills that they can get as they get more life experience and are given the space to experiment.

To what degree can teachers use AI in their classes? You can have all the data(数据)you like with the help of AI, but great teachers will also need to depend on their own feelings.

1. The writer starts the passage by ________.
A.telling storiesB.comparing views

B.help kids think more freely and creatively than AI
C.have high intelligence to deal with the heavy teaching work

3. What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
A.Why teachers can be replaced in classrooms.
B.There is argument over Artificial Intelligence.
C.How helpful AI can be to both students and teachers.
D.AI is only being used successfully in education.
4. What’s the structure of the passage?
A.B.
C.D.
5. Which example can be shown that the human teacher is important?
A.A teacher gives lessons to students.

2 . Work is helpful to health. Scientists find that the hard-working people live longer than those who have no jobs. Studies show that the jobless are in poorer health than job-holders. The women have jobs are healthier than housewives.

Why is work good for health? It is because work keeps people busy, away from feeling lonely. Researches show that people feel unhappy and worried when they have nothing to do. The happiest people are those who are busy. Many high achievers who love their jobs feel they are the happiest when they are working hard. They work as a bridge between their dream and reality, so they have energy every day. By work, people get to know each other. By taking part in all kinds of activities, they find friendship and warmth. This is helpful to health. The loss(丧失)of work means the loss of everything. It makes people down and it will cause more illnesses.

Besides, work makes one feel hopeful and proud. When a writer finishes his writing or a doctor successfully operates on a patient or a teacher sees his students grow, they are very happy.

From the above, we can come to a conclusion: the more you work, the happier and healthier you will be.

1. People who have no jobs are ________ than job-holders.
A.in poorer healthB.happierC.healthierD.busier
2. From this passage, we can learn ________.

A.People who are hard-working live longer than those who are jobless.
B.Work can make people feel tired and lonely.
C.The loss of work will cause more illnesses.
D.People can get to know each other by working together.
4. Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?

3 . ①When it comes to Chinese students considering studying in foreign countries, many of them usually believe that life will be easy and enjoyable. Unfortunately, it’s likely that students with those beliefs will be disappointed very soon after landing at the airport.

②So, what are the problems you may have, and how can you deal with them?

③Teaching and learning styles in America are very different from those in China, requiring more critical thinking(批判性思维) and teamwork. In a normal American classroom, one project might be done by a study group in which every person has his/her own responsibility.

④So don’t worry about your language or any grammar mistakes. Just watch what other students do, and don’t be afraid to ask any questions. The discussions, or sometimes ever arguments, that your group members and you hold are likely to be the beginning of a friendship.

⑤Beside schoolwork, another important thing faced by overseas students is homesickness or loneliness. You may miss your parents’ cooking, your pets, or even your old bed. Being away from home can create bitter feelings, especially when faced with the challenges of getting used to a new environment.

⑥What I strongly suggest is to try hard to deal with these feelings. Be open to new friendships. Sign up for school activities, and give yourself permission to enjoy life at school, even if you miss home a lot. Be organized and keep a diary to check your progress. Write down three new things that you’re grateful for every evening, as well as three things you’re looking forward to every morning.

⑦Studying abroad is never simple. In fact, there will be many difficulties every day. But I’m sure you will overcome your difficulties and make your time overseas a success.

C.watching what others doD.arguing with other students
3. Which is NOT the suggestion to deal with homesickness according to the article?

5 .
Hi Joanna,

I’m having a great time in Vietnam. We arrived three days ago and now we’re staying in a hostel by a river in the jungle. The weather is very hot and sunny.

Yesterday we trekked into the jungle and explored. We also looked for monkeys in the trees, but we couldn’t see any. There were lots of horrible spiders. Yuck!

Tomorrow morning we’re travelling to the beach and in the afternoon we’re surfing. I can’t wait!

Say hello to Emma. See you soon.

Love,

Milla

Hi Joanna,

This is my second day in Canada. We’re staying at a campsite near a lake in Ontario. The scenery is really beautiful. The weather is OK. Yesterday it was really cold and windy, but today it’s better.

Yesterday we kayaked down a river. It was very scary as there were lots of rocks. Today I climbed down a cliff. That was scary too, but I enjoyed it!

Tomorrow we’re cycling to the nearest village(村庄) to buy food and drink. I’ve only got three more days here.

6 . Today, it is a big problem for young people to get fine jobs after they leave university. It is said that there are thousands of different kinds of jobs in the world. But choosing the right one itself often worries young people.

“Finding a job” is not the same as “choosing a job”. Many young people end up in jobs that they are not suitable (合适的) for. Here are a few steps to help you think about jobs which you might enjoy doing after school or university.

First, it is important to know what kind of person you are, which special qualities (品质) make you better than others and what you are interested in. There is a difference between an interest and a skill. If you like art and enjoy looking at pictures, that is an interest. But if you can draw a horse that looks like a horse not a big dog, that is a skill.

Then ask yourself a question, “Of the following three skills-skill with people, skill with information and skill with things, which is my best skill?”

After finding out your best skill, the next step is to research (调查). To find out as many different kinds of jobs as possible, go to the library and read books, magazines and newspapers for information. Ask your friends what they think of the work they do.

The last step is to trust your own ideas and your own thinking! It is your own life, just find the job you really enjoy doing.

1. Paragraph One tells us that it’s ________ to choose a right job.
A.easyB.hardC.necessaryD.different

A.B.C.D.
4. What’s the purpose(意图) of this passage?
A.To tell people how to choose a suitable job.B.To describe the problems of getting fine jobs.
C.To show the steps of finding out your best skills.D.To explain why choosing fine jobs worries people.
