My new owner was Nicholas Skinner. He was hard on his drivers, and they were hard on the horses. We worked for long hours and had no Sunday rest. My driver was just as hard as his master, and he had a cruel whip (残忍的鞭子) with something sharp at the end which often cut me and made me bleed. When a whale dies, its big body will fall to the bottom(底部) of the sea and a special deep-sea ecosystem(生态系统) will be formed in a long time. Scientists give a name to this: the whale fall (鲸落).
Recently, some scientists on a Chinese research ship called Tansuo-1 found a whale fall at the depth of 1,600 meters in the South China Sea. 1.
