1 . We look at the sun every day.
On September 2nd, 2021, China’s Fengyun-3E satellite took its first photos of the sun.
One of the satellite’s sides faces the sun all the time.
Clear pictures of the sun can help scientists study it more deeply. For example, scientists can better study solar storms (风暴). These may affect (影响) weather on Earth.

E.The seven planets are very close to one another. |
5 . Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the second-smallest planet in the Solar System after Mercury. Mars carries a name of the Roman God of War, and is often mentioned as the “Red planet” because of its reddish (微红的) look. We can see it easily from Earth with our eyes.
Many pictures taken by our telescopes (天文望远镜) or spaceships show that there might be water on the surface of Mars long ago. This finding is very exciting. Because on Earth, almost everywhere there is water, there is life. That makes people think that “something” smart, or Martians, lived on the planet. So Mars has caught a lot of our imagination.
These ideas led to more stories, books, movies, and television shows than any other planet. The most famous one was the 1938 radio drama The War of the Worlds. It sounded so real that many listeners were afraid that Martians would come to Earth and take our home one day.
Television picked up on the idea of human-like Martians with the 1966 series My Favorite Martian. Other stories that took place on Mars were turned into movies such as the 1990 Total Recall and its remake in 2012. Different from the 1990 one, the 2012 Total Recall showed Mars became a planet just like the earth but the people on it lived a hard life because it got less air.
The most successful one was the 2014 novel that became the movie in 2015 of The Martian about a scientist that is left on Mars. The movie showed a complete picture of the life on Mars and got great success.
The more we know about Mars, the more stories will follow.

6 . There are many stories and poems about the Moon in Chinese history. And now scientists send spaceships to the Moon. Why? Because people are always interested in the Moon and want to know more about it. Here is some information(信息) about it. Let’s see it together.
The Moon looks beautiful and bright at night. It is far away from the Earth and if you want to get to the Moon, it will take you about 6 months to get there by car at 95 km per hour.
There is no gravity on the Moon, so people can enjoy floating there. If you weigh 68 kg on Earth, you will weigh only 11 kg on the Moon.
There are many interesting places such as craters(陨石坑), mountains and lava plains(熔岩平原) on the Moon. There is no air on the Moon, so people can’t breathe on it.
On Earth, the day is usually warm and the night is cool. And there are four different seasons in a year. But on the Moon, the temperature is very high during the day and very low at night. And a full day on the Moon, from the sunrise to the next, lasts about 29.5 Earth days on average(平均).
The Moon doesn’t have its own light. It looks bright because it can reflect(反射) light from the Sun. When the Moon moves around the Earth, it gets different light from the Sun. So we find its size often changes.
1. Why are there many stories and poems about the Moon according to the text?A.Because people in the past wanted to live on it. |
B.Because people like it and want to know about it. |
C.Because people in the past couldn’t understand it. |
D.Because it is a symbol(象征) of beauty and love. |
A.Less than 5 kg. |
B.More than 10 kg. |
C.Only 7 kg. |
D.About 9 kg. |
A.People can lose weight on the Moon and breathe in fresh air there. |
B.People can float to the Moon now and enjoy themselves over there. |
C.Two days on the Moon equal(等于) about fifty-nine days on Earth. |
D.The day is very hot and the night is cool in the summer of the Moon. |
A.To tell us some ways of travelling to the Moon. |
B.To tell us some important facts about the Moon. |
C.To tell us some interesting stories about the Moon. |
D.To tell us the differences between the Earth and the Moon. |
7 . In the universe, as we know, there is the sun, the moon, the earth and many stars. Through our geography lessons, we know the earth goes round the sun, and the moon goes round the earth. We have day and night because the earth keeps turning all the time. When our part of the earth turns to the sun, it is day. When our part of the earth turns away from the sun, it is night.
Just because the moon is closer to the earth than the sun, it looks much bigger than the sun. Big things look smaller when they are farther, and small things look bigger when they are nearer.
The sun is bright enough to give out very strong light. The moon can’t give out any light at all, but it looks quite bright too. Why? In fact, the light from the moon comes from the sun. The moon looks much bigger and brighter than the stars. But actually(事实上) the stars are much bigger and brighter than the moon. They look smaller than the moon because they are farther away from the earth.
There are still many other planets in the universe. All of them move round the sun. But of all these planets, only on the earth are there living things and people can only live on the earth too. At 9:00 am, on October 15th, 2003, Chinese astronaut Yang Liwei was sent into space. He stayed there for 21 hours. It was the first time for Chinese to get into space.

C.On May 6th, 2004. | D.On October 15th, 2003. |
8 . People in many parts of North and South America will be able to see a total lunar eclipse (月食) on Sunday night and early Monday morning. The eclipse is special, and it is called a super blood wolf moon by some people.
The moon will be a little closer than it normally is to the Earth. For this reason, it will appear brighter than usual. Such a moon is called a super moon. When the moon is completely eclipsed, it looks darker and appears to have an orange or even a red color. The sunset on the Earth looks orange for a similar reason. Because of its reddish color, an eclipsed moon is sometimes called a blood moon.
In North America, there are traditional names given to each of the 12 full moons that happen throughout the year. January’s full moon is known as the wolf moon or the great spirit moon.
Is there anything I should get ready when I look up the lunar eclipse?
“There are no precautions (预防措施) you need to take when looking at a lunar eclipse, since the moon is never bright enough to hurt your eyes like the sun,” according to Walter Freeman, a physicist at Syracuse University.
It’s just a wonderful thing for the whole family to see because it’s fairly rare to have all these kinds of things together at the same time.
