4 . In order to better record the exciting moments of the Beijing Winter Olympics, China had developed a series of high-speed cameras. Among them, Lie Bao is the most well-known.
Lie Bao is developed by China Media Group, especially for broadcasting (播送) speed skating events at Beijing 2022.
Experts said that during the speed skating race, the athletes (运动员) could reach a speed of 15 to 18 meters per second (秒) . The camera should be as fast as the athletes. Lie Bao can reach a speed of 25 meters per second, or 90 kilometers per hour. So it could closely catch the athletes. Not everyone could go to the National Speed Skating Oval to watch the games, but we were able to follow every move of the skaters, including the look on their faces.
After the Olympics, the high-speed Lie Bao camera is going to be used in sports training. It can help coaches better record the athletes’ moves.

What inventions(发明) do you think there will be in the future? Do you have any ideas? We are building a Museum of Future Inventions near London. In the museum, you will see different inventions like cars and robots.
The museum will be very big. Visitors will move through the museum on moving walkways(通道). They will listen to the audio guides(导览机) to find out about the things in the museum. Some of the robots will talk to you. They can talk in a lot of different languages.
There will be cinemas, laboratories, classrooms, and a present shop in the museum. In the present shop, there will be fantastic things to buy for your friends and family. There will also be a Young Inventor Laboratory for children. Children will make their future inventions in the laboratory.
In the Technology (科技) Room, you will see some computers, TVs and screens of the future. There will be very small computers that you can wear like a watch. There will be small phones you will wear in your ears.
Do you have an idea for a future invention? Why not send it to us? We will send you a Future Inventor T-shirt. We will send the best ideas to the museum and they will put them on the walls of the Young Inventor Laboratory for everyone to see.

7 . Many young people love to use Xiaomi’s smartphones in China. How do they charge(充电) their smartphones? Now Xiaomi has just come up with a new solution, called “Mi Air Charge”.
Before we dive right in air charging, let’s examine wireless charging first. It means that you no longer need to plug in a cable(电缆) to charge your smartphone. In fact, you can place it on a special mat, and you’re good to go.
According to Xiaomi, the Mi Air Charge technology makes you be able to charge your smartphone over-the-air without any cables. For example, you’re walking into work, and your phone starts being charged without you having to do anything more.
The new technology lies in space positioning(定位) and energy transmission(传输). Let’s take it this way. Xiaomi has a self-developed charging pile( 充电桩). It can properly discover where your smartphone is. If your smartphone comes into contact with the charging pile, it will transmit millimetre waves(毫米波) to the phone. Is there anything on the smartphone side? According to Xiaomi, it has developed special “receiving antennas( 天线)” in the phone, which change the millimetre-wave signal coming from the charging pile into electric energy through the rectifier circuit(整流电路). “This technology has obtained(获得) 17 technical patents(专利),” said the company CEO Lei Jun proudly.
Now that Air Charge technology is already out, Xiaomi has some great plans. In the future this new technology will be used in smart watches, speakers, desk lamps and other home products. Cool, isn’t it? Let’s wait and see!

What would the world be like if cars could drive themselves? Imagine seeing an empty car passing by on its way to pick up its owner, or a car full of passengers who are reading, listening to music or even sleeping. But none of them is worried about the road ahead.
Well, all of these could be the future of driving. There are several companies, for example, Google, working on driverless cars. So far, no Google self-driven car has got a traffic ticket, but some of them have been in accident when other cars hit them.
These cars are now still in the testing stages(测试阶段). If the tests are successful, these electric, self-driven cars could be put into use very soon. But how is it possible for a car to drive itself? Cars already have many features(特征) allowing them to replace drivers during certain situations. Some features include cars being able to park themselves, or slow down when they notice other cars close by. They can also control the speed(速度)if there are dangerous conditions.
Scientists believe that with the help of wireless signals(无线信号), cameras and GPS, it is possible to create a safe self-driven car very soon.
The cause of serious road accidents is usually careless drivers or dangerous conditions. The self-driven car may be able to stop this. However, some people do not like the idea. They think that technologies can also be mistakes.
