Spacemen are able to live upside down (头朝下地). They do this not just during sleep, but also when eating and going to the toilet. Before they fly into space, they have lots of practice. Each upside-down training time lasts for 20 days.
Spacemen aren’t just spaceship drivers but also machine repairers and scientists. They have to know every part of the spaceship and how it works. If something goes wrong, they must know how to make it work again. Also they do scientific experiments in space.
Spacemen know how to live in the wild. They take a knife, a gun and some dye (染料) with them into space. If they land in forests, the knife and gun can protect them from wild animals. If they fall into the sea, the dye can colour the sea water around them yellow. This can help people find them easily on the sea.
Spacemen can’t get dizzy (眩晕的). A spaceship is not a plane. When it goes up, the extra gravity force can break people’s bones. Spacemen must have strong bodies for this. They can’t get a headache or be sick. With many things to take care of, they’ve got no time for sickness.
After you have read the passage, please answer the following questions:
1. Can spacemen both drive and repair the spaceship?

2. How many skills that spacemen should have are mentioned in this passage?

3. Do you want to be a spaceman when you grow up? Why or why not?

The little cars will cost much less to own and to drive.Driving will be safer, too,as these little cars can go only 65 kilometers an hour. The cars of the future will be fine for getting around a city, but they will not be useful for long trips.Little cars will go 450 kilometers before needing to stop for more gasoline (汽油).
If big cars are still used along with the small ones, two kinds of roads will be needed in the future. Some roads will be used for the big, fast cars and other roads will be needed for the slower, small ones.

The technology behind RealCine is virtual reality (VR). Unlike ordinary cinema, RealCine excites all five of our senses: sight, hearing, smell, touch and even taste. RealCine works by making the viewers feel that they are actually in the film. To achieve this, special VR headsets(耳机)are made to help the viewers see a world of 3D and hear the sounds clearly all around them. Special gloves are also worn so that people and objects in the film can be touched. Both the headsets and the gloves are connected to the RealCine computer system. To add to the virtual(虚拟的)world of RealCine, smells are given out through small openings in the headsets. Special food and drinks are delivered into the viewer’s mouth via a sensor.
In scientific studies it has been shown that VR can provide teenagers with another way to experience the world. For example, in one experiment, a teenager whose dream was to be a world–famous football star experienced a VR film where he played the role of the captain of the Brazilian football team.
Besides films, VR might also have some other uses. For example, firefighters could be trained using RealCine to avoid the risk(冒险)of entering a burning building themselves. It could be used in the classrooms too. Teachers could bring history alive by placing students in a famous battle(战役)or they could teach biology by allowing students to be a whale or an ant for a lesson.
1. Is the technology behind RealCine called VR?

2. What do viewers wear so they feel they are actually in the film?

Now some diseases can't be cured, but they may be cured sometime in the future. So some people hope that their bodies can be frozen after they die. When a cure is found, warm up his or her body, bring it back to life and take the cure. Once the body is frozen, it is kept in liquid nitrogen (液态氮) at a temperature of 328 degrees below zero.
Now around a thousand people are going to take cryogenic treatment(处理), though most scientists say it won't work. If we freeze huge creatures(生物) like humans, every one of their cells(细胞) will be broken. Can they be brought back to life in the future?
根据短文内容,完成下列小题。
1. Where do most people hope that their bodies are kept after their death?
2. Why do they want the world to keep their bodies well?
3. How do scientists usually keep a dead man's body?
4. How many people are going to take cryogenic treatment after they die?
5. Can a man who died of cancer come back to life in the future if his body is frozen? Why?
It is said that e-schoolbags are going to be brought into use in Chinese middle schools soon. In fact, the e-schoolbag should perhaps be called an e-textbook. It is a small computer for students. Heavy schoolbags have been a serious problem for them for a long time. But the e-schoolbag will change everything. It is much lighter than a usual schoolbag. Also it is as small as a usual book, but it can still hold all the things for study, such as a textbook, an exercise book and so on. They can be made into chips (集成电路片) that are as small as stamps. Students can read the text page by page on the screen, take notes, or even send e-mails to their teachers. All they have to do is to put the right chip into the e-schoolbag and press a button.
Some say that e-textbooks can be easily broken; some say they are not good for students’ eyes. In fact, only time will tell who is right.
1. An e-schoolbag is ____________.
A.as heavy as a usual schoolbag. | B.much heavier than a usual schoolbag |
C.much lighter than a usual schoolbag | D.not so light as a usual schoolbag |
A.a video chip | B.a small computer | C.a heavy bag | D.a usual book |
A.fixing buttons | B.making chips | C.computer games | D.school study |
A.are popular with all the people. | B.Can do everything for students. |
C.May be used instead of usual schoolbags | D.Have come into use in China |
H. G. Wells could only imagine the travel to the moon. In 1969, human beings really did land on the moon. People today know that there are no underground cities on the moon. However, the question that the "moon people" asked is still an interesting one. A growing number of scientists are seriously thinking about it.
Underground systems (体系) are already in place. Many cities have underground car parks. In some cities, such as Tokyo, Seoul and Montreal, there are large underground shopping areas. The "Chunnel", a tunnel connecting England and France, is now completed.
But what about underground cities? Japan's Taisei Corporation is designing a network of underground systems, called "Alice Cities". The designers imagine using surface space for public parks and using underground space for flats, offices, shopping and so on. A solar dome (太阳能穹顶) would cover the whole city.
Supporters of underground development say that building down rather than building up is a
good way to use the earth's space. The surface, they say, can be used for farms, parks, gardens, and wilderness. H. G. Wells's "moon people" would agree. Would you?
1. The explorers in H. G. Wells's story were surprised to find that the "moon people"

8 . What is the sky?①This question is very difficult to answer. The sky is a space where there is nothing except the sun,the earth, the moon and all the stars.
Scientists can look at them through telescopes(望远镜) and,in this way, they can find out a great deal (许多,大量).They know many facts about the moon. For example, they know how big and how far away it is.②The moon is about 384,000 kilometers away from the earth.A plane cannot fly to the moon because there is no air.But a rocket can.
“How can a rocket fly?” If you want to know, get a balloon and then blow it up,until it is quite big.Do not tie up the neck of the balloon.Let it go!The balloon will fly off through the air very quickly. The air inside the balloon tries to get out through the neck of it,which pushes(推动)the balloon through the air.It does not need wings(翅膀)like a plane.③.Of course, the rocket is made of(由……制成) metal(金属).The metal must not be heavy but it must be very strong. There is a gas(气体) inside the rocket which is made very hot. When it rushes out of the rocket, the rocket is pushed up into the air.
1. 将画线部分①改为同义句:2. 将画线部分②译成汉语:
3. 从下面三个句子中选出一个,将其放回到画线部分③,使其上下文通顺合理。
A.This is what a rocket looks like |
B.This is how a rocket works |
C.This is why a rocket looks like a plane |
In space there is only the sun,the earth and the moon.
5. 请根据短文,判断正(T)误(F)。
The rocket can fly to the moon because it carries a gas inside it to push itself.
