I came to Shanxi University as an international student from Bangladesh in October 2018. I found myself falling in love     1     Shanxi. And I became more interested in local life and knew more about the city.

    2     I first came here, I found it might be hard to start a new life in a new place. But with the help of my teachers and friends, I could adapt (适应) to the life here. I think their warm-hearted help     3     a main reason for my growing love of China. My experience in Shanxi is a chance to help open my     4     and I find life here is full of surprise. I love visiting different parts of Shanxi by cycling because it can help me have a better understanding of the city and make friends with local people.

With a recorded history of more than 3,000 years, Shanxi is one of the cradles (发源地) of ancient Chinese culture. The province     5     is called “a museum of ancient Chinese culture” has lots of treasures. Having lived in Shanxi for many years, I have been impressed by the Chinese people’s strong sense of pride in their traditional culture. Maybe you will enjoy this place like me.

Where did you go on National Day? I went to Hangzhou with my parents. It is a city     1     a history of more than 2200 years. The 19 Asian games was held there. There were many tourists in Hangzhou.     2     we arrived there, I saw many Chinese national flags flying.     3     we were tired and hungry, we were excited. We visited West Lake. It is the symbol of Hangzhou as well as one of the beautiful sights in China. There     4     a lot of delicious food in Hangzhou. We can taste different kinds of food there. Hangzhou is also famous for     5     beautiful scenery (风景) . I love Hangzhou, I love China.

My hometown is on a small island which is a very quiet place. There used to be many     1     of trees and flowers. The     2     swam in the blue sea happily. For me, one of     3     happiest activities is playing at the beach. But years later the sea was filled     4     rubbish and the plants disappeared. The blue sea became dirty and the lovely fish died. I really felt sorry for     5     had happened to my hometown. Luckily, the government has taken some actions to     6     these problems. The government cleared the rubbish in the sea in the next few months. Now many workers pull     7     and clean the sea every day. The environment in my hometown is becoming     8     than before.

In fact, protecting the natural environment itself     9     also protecting our hometown. We must act together,     10     we will regret one day! Only in this way can it give us a comfortable place to live in.

Recently, Dong Yuhui’s introduction about Shanxi has drawn attention of a lot of people. More and more people show interest     1     this province. Shanxi Province got its name because of its location（位置）to the west of Taihang Mountain. Shanxi covers an area of 157,000 square kilometers     2     a population of over 37 million.     3     capital is Taiyuan City.

History

As the saying goes, “if you want to know about five thousand     4     of the Chinese history, visit Shanxi”. Shanxi is one of the birth places of Chinese civilizations（文明）. The early Chinese emperors Yao, Shun and Yu established capitals and built their empires here.

Places of Interest

There are a number of natural and beautiful places in Shanxi. For example, Wutai Mountain is one of the     5     famous Buddhist（佛教）mountains in China. Yungang Grottoes is one of the largest grottoes in China. It is     6     “Chinese Treasure”. These grottoes last 50 years. Pingyao Ancient City was listed as a World Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in 1997. The wall of Pingyao Ancient City was built in Ming Dynasty. The wall is ten meters     7    , 6163 meters around, and three to five meters wide at the top.

Food

The traditional food in Shanxi has attracted many tourists around the world. Shanxi is famous     8     its wheaten food（面食）. There are a lot of cooking ways like steaming, boiling, frying or baking. And the shapes are     9    , such as colorful steamed bread, steamed boat-flour rolls, sliced noodles and so on. Even a Shanxi native doesn’t have the chance to try all kinds of the fine food.

Since the founding of New China, Shanxi has     10     more progress. People’s daily lives are getting better. Shanxi in the new era（时代）is pursuing a dream for the brighter future.
