Today is Father’s Day. I miss my father a lot at the special festival.

At the age of 5, I     1     (live) with my family in the countryside. We didn’t have a lot of money, so we     2     (grow) our own food and made our own clothes. Every day I enjoyed     3     (climb) onto my father’s back and playing together.     4     (he) hands were big and strong. He always lifted me up (抱起来)     5     (easy). When I was 10 years old, my dream was to be a     6     (sing). My father was my big fan (粉丝) and I always sang for him. I felt very     7     (luck) in such a happy family.

Now I am 55 years old. I have wrinkles (皱纹) and some health     8     (problem),but I still remember those happy times with my dad. I wish I could     9     (go) back and sit with him one more time. I just would like     10     (tell) him how much I love him and thank him for making me feel so happy and loved as a child.

Jessica’s three daughters spent lots of time on schoolwork, part-time jobs, and other activities. They always seemed too busy to do even the simplest chores. They     1     lifted a finger at home but kept making extra (额外的) work for others. So Jessica went on strike (罢工).

It all began on a typically busy Friday. That evening, when she was taking a break for the first time, she looked around the     2     and realized that the kids had made a mess. Then Jessica decided to stop doing the chores.

However, the children didn’t even notice what was happening until Day 3 of the strike. By then, dishes had piled up (摞起) in the kitchen and there     3     a smell around the house. Her daughters were unhappy, but nobody did anything. It wasn’t until Day 5 that the girls started to clean up the house. While the girls were doing the chores, Jessica     4     on the sofa drinking coffee that her daughters had made for her.

The kids said they were shocked to see how much their mom had been doing for them. They realized that they were perfectly capable (有能力) of doing the chores     5     their own, though their mom could do them faster and better.

As for Jessica, she was happy that she had done something correct.

School is a new start when the new term comes. Studying is certainly a big part of my life. I have made a decision to set a goal for every subject     1     the beginning of the term. I am always active in all classes so that I can have more free time to do things     2     I’m interested in after school.

I like reading books of all kinds. Meanwhile, I     3     an active member in my school’s running team.

To achieve what I want, I must use my time well. At school, I always do my homework     4     I have spare time. After school, I try to     5     any possible time remembering the new words I have learned during the day. As the popular saying goes, “Every minute counts!”

Set a goal and get ahead!

8 . Many kids think they are too common. They think they are not the prettiest or the smartest. But in fact, they just don’t know     1     special they are.

Growing up means understanding what you can do for the world. When you are young, you don’t see that. But when you get a little     2    , you may know that just by being yourself, you do offer something to other people. Maybe you aren’t the best, but that doesn’t make you “not special”.

Think about your friends. Write     3     some things that you like about them. Think about why you are friends. You are going to know that although they aren’t the smartest or the prettiest or the most talented, they are great in     4     own way. And they feel just the same as you!

In fact, it is great to be the best at something, but it’s OK     5     you can’t be the best. Make sure live your life carefully and try hard. Then you can make your dream come true.
