My grandparents live in a small old town in the south part of Jiangsu. Many of its buildings have a history of three centuries. There are many old buildings and bridges.

Thirty years ago, people there u    1     to live a quiet and peaceful life. There were few cars, few f    2    . And of course, little p    3    . But now the town has t    4     into a hot travel destination (目的地). It is not a quiet place any more. Every day, t    5     of tourists come into the town. The parking areas are always f    6     of cars and coaches. Tourists come to the town on holiday. They say it can help them relax themselves. But, can they r    7     enjoy a holiday in such a crowded (拥挤的) and n    8     town?

Now, too many tourists have c    9     many problems. The biggest problem is that they have polluted the town. The rivers are dirty and the air is not so f    10     as before. Local people have more money, but is money so important?

After a two-day train ride, my train     1     (stop) at the Chengdu Railway Station. I expected     2     (have) an exciting trip in this city. And my expectations were realized.

I found the city to be like a cake with different taste—not only in terms of its food, but also its people.

Food in Chengdu is special. Its dishes represent Sichuan cooking. Each dish has a special name. Mapo tofu, for example,     3     (name) after the person who first made it. This dish is not very special, so most people can enjoy it. The most special food I     4     (have) has a funny name—cold noodles with sadness. You are what you eat. People in Chengdu are friendly. If you get lost, you can ask for directions on the street. Everyone is smiling. Their smiles are so sweet that it makes you     8     (want) to smile at others too. All in all, Chengdu is an amazing city.

Last summer, I went to Yunnan on vacation with my family. We     1     (spend) four days there.

Our first stop was Lugu Lake. I think it is more beautiful     2     any other lake in the world. I enjoyed     3     (stay) there. We went boating and took quite a few photos. Then we went up to a hill. On the top of     4     hill, we got to see something beautiful. I felt like I was in a painting. I thought I would never forget the beautiful scenery (风景) there.

After a short break, we went to walk around the town and bought some gifts. Then we decided     6     (try) the famous Guoqiao Rice Noodles for dinner. They were very special and delicious. People from different cultures live and work peacefully with each other and share their traditions (传统). Large number of people, ideas, are mixed together under the same sky. Now, however, there is a strong Chinese business community and also a growing Indian business community.
