Can you imagine an AI chatbot (聊天机器人) competing with you in an examination? Do you think you could get higher marks than it? A new AI chatbot called ChatGPT recently passed the exam in a law school. Don’t you think it is crazy? The use of ChatGPT has got a lot of attention in the education world and there are many discussions about it. Let’s have a look.

If you type (打字) in “A cat wants to go to space” and ask ChatGPT to write a bedtime story. Just one second later, you’ll get the story of Max, who got through many difficulties to sing among the stars.

Developed by US company OpenAI, ChatGPT has taken the Internet by storm. It has won more than 900 million users since it came out in November, 2022. People can ask the robot to write stories and e-mails, translate (翻译) languages, and answer all kinds of questions.

Why is ChatGPT such an excellent robot? Compared with Siri or other chatbots, ChatGPT uses a much bigger database (数据库) for training. It also learns things by itself. For example, if it provides a wrong answer to your question, you can tell it the right one and it will make it right. The knowledge level of ChatGPT is similar to a college student. That’s why it surprised the world.

But one big problem with ChatGPT is that it makes mistakes or even gives wrong information. These are things that need to be done with.

How’s everything going in Australia? I’m now living with the Zhangs. Here are some photos of the family and their house for you.

The New Year’s Day is coming. They call it the Spring Festival. And this year is the year of the tiger. Before New Year’s Day, people are busy shopping and cleaning their houses. On New Year’s Eve, the night before New Year’s Day, there is a big family dinner. After dinner, all the families stay up late (守岁) to welcome the New Year. On the first day of the New Year, people put on their new clothes and go to visit (拜访) their friends. They say “Happy New Year” and some other greetings to each other. People usually have a good time during the festival. I really love this festival so much!

A farmer had four lambs (羊羔). One was black, and the other three were white. The black lamb was friendly to the others. But the white lambs often laughed at (嘲笑) him. They thought he was ugly (丑陋的). Also, the farmer did not like him. He gave (给) bad food to the black lamb.

One winter morning, the four lambs went out to eat grass. They went far away from home. In the afternoon, it began to snow. It was such a heavy snow that the ground (地面) became white soon. They couldn’t find their way home.

When the farmer found that the lambs were not at home, he went out to look for them. There was snow everywhere (到处). So it was difficult for him to find his lambs. Suddenly, he saw something black. He went to it. Oh, it was his black lamb! And the white lambs were there, too. The farmer was very excited. He said happily, “Thanks to the black lamb, I can find you!”

Imagine you are looking at Wang Ximeng’s famous painting from the Song Dynasty (960-1279), A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains (《千里江山图》). Suddenly, its blue rivers ripple (起伏), and its green mountains move. Music draws you into the painting as it comes to life and shares with you its history. This is what happens in Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting (《只此青绿》), a dance drama based on (基于) the beautiful piece of art.

The show is now showing across China. In the show, one man from the present interacts (互动) with the painter of the past, through his experiences with the painting. Actually, over in the West, dance is used in similar ways to tell cultural stories from history and reinvent (重新创造) them in the modern world.

China’s dance drama tells its story through the power of movement and often stillness (静止). In the show, the dancers arch (拱起) their backs and wave (挥舞) their flowing clothes to move like rivers. In one scene the dancers become huge still rocks. The creativity behind the moves speaks to us in a poetic (诗意的) way. There is a closeness too with a live performance, a shared link between the dancers and the audience (观众).

How many fish are there in the sea? We always think that there are a great number of fish. Is this true? Will we run out of fish one day?

Humans began overfishing (过度捕鱼) in the sea in the 19th century. Today, there are too many fishing ships in the world. In other words, we are taking away too many fish from the sea. The fish can’t grow back fast. So, the numbers of many kinds of fish are dropping rapidly. Some kinds will soon be in great danger.

To stop overfishing, many areas have started to do something. The governments have put up “No fishing” signs near some rivers and lakes. The fish in these areas are probably under protection. When the fish in a certain area start to lay eggs (产卵), the governments will announce (宣布) the beginning of the closed fishing season. People can’t catch fish until the young fish grow up.

All life of the living things here depends on the sea. And fish are very important to the health of the sea. Let’s work together to protect our friends in the sea.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be either a doctor or a lawyer (律师). I could save people’s lives with medicine or the law (法律).

Kids now are different. Those in the US and the UK want to be YouTubers. That’s not a surprise. They grow up with the Internet, and many of them are on YouTube a lot. To those kids, YouTubers have an easy job. They just make videos of themselves.

In fact, YouTubers’ work isn’t easy at all. They need to play video games or introduce dances to people all day. And they still need to make their videos (视频) look good to attract (吸引) people. What’s more, they need to learn art, science and so on.

Also, they need to get people to watch their videos. That’s difficult because there are so many videos and YouTubers out there already. They should make their videos so different from others’ that people would enjoy them.

Even so, it’s good to have dreams and follow them. Just be ready to work hard to make them come true. Anything can happen as long as you put your mind to it.

Joe lived alone (独自) in a small village. He was very happy when his grandchildren visited him during holidays.

One day, Joe knew his grandchildren would come, so he was very happy to clean the house to welcome them. After he cleaned the barn (谷仓), he lost his watch. It was a gift from his wife (妻子). His grandchildren came, but they found that their grandfather was very sad. They asked him about it and Joe told them that he couldn’t find his watch. The children wanted to help their grandfather, so they asked Joe when he last saw his watch. Joe remembered the last time he saw it was when he started to clean the barn. All the children looked for it for two hours, but couldn’t find anything. Then, one of the children asked the other ones to leave and said he would look for the watch alone.

Minutes later, the boy brought the watch back. Joe and other children wanted to know how he did it. The boy said, “I sat in the barn alone. After some minutes, I heard a ‘tick-tick’ sound and found the watch.”

Joe was happy and thanked the little boy.
