Today I want to tell you something about my neighbourhood.

I live on a big street. On the left of my house is a big park. The police station is opposite my house. There is a hotel on the left of the park. Between the hotel and a Japanese restaurant there is a small bank. A big supermarket is opposite the Japanese restaurant. On weekends, my family often play sports in the park. My mother often shops in the supermarket.

I live on a small street. My house is in the middle of the street. In front of my house there is a small supermarket. On the left of the supermarket is a library and on the right of the supermarket is a post office. Behind my house there is a small park with a few trees and a small garden. At the end of my street there is a hill with lots of trees.

On weekends, my family often climbs the hill. It takes us about 15 minutes to walk there from our house.

My name is Jack Miller. I am thirty-two years old. I am from New York. I work at a lost and found office in New York. At the lost and found office, there are some different things. Let’s have a look.

There are one hundred wallets in our lost and found office. When you open the wallets, you can find some money. There is a shelf behind the table. My mother was telling me about how she and her family got their first television when she was a teenager. Of course it was black and white. She said she only watched it at night. She didn’t remember ever watching it in the morning or afternoon. When I was young we had only about 3 or 4 different channels (频道). My brothers, my sisters and I would sometimes fight about which channel to watch. But we usually enjoyed the same shows.

Nowadays we can get hundreds of channels on TV. I can’t believe it! There are channels with old movies, cooking, fishing and so on. It’s amazing! There is a TV for everything. I wonder how many times my brothers, my sisters and I would fight if we had hundreds of channels when I was a child. Of course we had only one television set then.

These days I find families with 2 or 3 or more television sets in their homes. I guess it keeps people from arguing over which channel to choose.

One day they help a little girl at their school learn to read. At the weekend they help walk a neighbour’s dog and even give the dog a good bath (洗澡). They love helping others and they are having so much fun doing it as well.

After a few days, the other students at school hope to join the club. So Gina and Jill open the club up to new members. Everyone in the club promises to show love to others. They have meetings every week. They plan who they should help and why they will do it. Everyone gives away (捐) some money each week to buy flowers or cards for sick people in hospitals to cheer them up (使……振作起来). In a short time, everyone at school hears of the club and almost everyone wants to join it.

My name is Cherry. I’m going to try my best to make my study better. I’m going to finish my homework on time. If I need some help with a subject, I’ll ask my teachers and study hard.

My name is Charlie. I’m going to eat fruit and vegetables every day. I’m going to drink more water and milk. I’m also going to brush my teeth after meals every day and wash my hands before meals.

My name is Tom. I’m going to get up early and do some running every day. I’m not going to take my father’s car on a clear day. I’m going to ride to school. I’m also going to join the Sports Club in my school to do some sports.

I’m Peter. I’ll never give out personal(私人的) information such as my name, home address, school name and telephone number on the Internet. Also, I’ll never send a picture of myself to anyone or chat with anyone online without my parents’ permission(允许).

On January 1st, our class went on a trip to Fun World Zoo. It took us one hour and a half to get there by bus. We saw many animals there, such as pandas, giraffes, monkeys, and camels(骆驼). It was the first time that I was so close to the animals. From this wonderful trip, I could learn a lot out of my textbook.

First, I got to know that there was a strange bird called Dodo. Then I was also surprised to know that there were only seven bones (骨头) in a giraffe’s neck. From the poster we could see that snakes (蛇) lived on land, in trees or in water. In cold winter, they ate little or nothing for months. What’s more, it was quite interesting that camels could live without water for a long time and there were no bones in the back of an elephant’s feet — only fat (脂肪)! The elephant took a shower with its nose. It was fantastic, right?
