Ballet

Ballet teaches grace, posture (姿势) and flexibility. Students focus on the use of proper ballet items (物品), expanding their knowledge of classical ballet techniques and improving motor skills for classical ballet practice. The class is a formal ballet class.

Creative Movers

Students can explore creative movement, balance, focus, the development of skills, motor planning and balance. The class helps build strength, flexibility and self-confidence, and allows children to realize expression in a positive and encouraging environment. Children use their imagination to celebrate movement and have lots of fun.

Jazz

Jazz includes movements from both classical ballet and dance techniques. This class will focus on traditional Jazz dance. Students will be introduced to jazz-style rhythms and movements. In order to ensure proper placement for your child, we invite all students to participate in a sample (示例) class. Students and parents work with program staff to meet students’ personal dance goals.

Hip Hop

Students will be introduced to several different aspects of hip hop dance including Popping, Locking, Breaking and Tutting in a high-energy environment. Our hip hop instructors are highly knowledgeable and will provide students with a wonderful view of hip hop dance.

2 . Interactive Virtual Science Lab

What if you are home-schooled and your family can’t afford to build a lab at your home? These are realistic, interactive, virtual lab experiments that 9th-12th grade home-schooled students love and can perform from the convenience of home.

How Does It Work?

A student is registered for one-week lab experiments that include:

●Daily 20-30 minute online class(each weekday for one week)with Greg Landry for instruction. This includes instruction on creating high quality lab reports and background instruction for each of the ten lab experiments we`ll conduct. Students can attend the live class or use the recording.

●Students will have a daily task(conduct two experiments in our interactive virtual lab and create two lab reports)to turn in.

●There are no supplies with our online lab experiments! Everything is done online in our interactive lab! With their mouse and keyboard, students follow a step-by-step “method”(also called “procedure”)to perform all the steps in the experiment.

●Students record all data from the experiment in their lab notebook and create a lab report which will be graded by Greg Landry and instructed for improvement.

5 . Last Sunday, an earthquake struck the Napa Valley area of northern California. It happened in the middle of the night, becoming the strongest earthquake to strike the Napa Valley in 15 years. No one was killed, but many people were treated in hospitals.

I said to my seven-year-old twins, Brad and Brett, and three-year-old Meghan, “We have so much, and these poor people in trouble now have nothing. We’ll share what we have with them.”

I filled a box with foods and clothes. While I was doing this, I advised the boys to choose their toys and donate some of their less favourite things. Meghan watched quietly as the boys took out their old toys and put them together. Then she walked away. A few minutes later she came back with Lucy, her much-loved doll. She put the doll on top of the other toys.

“Oh, dear,” I said. “You don’t have to give Lucy. You love her so much.” Meghan said, “Lucy makes me happy, Mummy. Maybe she’ll make another little girl happy, too.”

I looked at Meghan for a long moment. She taught me a lesson. It’s easy to give something that we don’t want any more, but hard to give what we cherish (珍爱), isn’t it?

6 . The aim(目的) of students who came to school is to study. But to study requires(需要) a right way, or you waste either the time or the money. The following are the ways of studying.

The best time for reading is morning, because in the morning, the air is fresh and the mind is clear. For that reason, we can get good result.

In studying we must have patience(耐心). If we have not known a text well, we must read it again. We should not read the next one till we have learned the first one.

When we are studying, we must put our hearts into the book, or we can get nothing from the book while we are reading.

We must always ask “whys”. If it is not well understood, write it down and ask our teachers or our parents, or friends. In any possible way, we must know it completely and what we’ve learned can be used well and made better.

Though there are many ways for studying, yet the above mentioned(提到的) will be quite enough if we can keep them in heart and do so.

10 . People eat different things in different parts of the world.

In south China we eat rice every day. Sometimes we eat it two or three times a day, for breakfast, lunch and supper. We usually eat it with fish, meat and vegetable.

The Japanese eat rice, too. They also eat a lot of fish. They sometimes eat raw (生的) fish. In Africa, maize (玉米)is the most important food. People there make maize into flour (面粉). From this flour they make different kinds of bread and cakes.

In western (西方的) countries such as Britain, Australia and the U. S. A, the most important food is bread or potatoes. People there usually make their bread from wheat flour. They cook the potatoes in different ways. In England the most popular food is fish and chips. Sometimes people cook this food at home, but usually they buy it at the shop. They eat this food at home, in their work place, in the park or on the road. People call it “take-away” food.
