3 . Sports can help us a lot. Taking exercises can make us strong. In collective sports like basketball, volleyball or football, we will learn the importance of cooperation. And sports can also help us relax after work or study.
However, as the saying goes, “there are two sides of everything.” Sometimes we may hurt other players or ourselves if we are not careful enough when participating in sports activities. What’s more, too much or hard practice can be bad for our health.
Sports can make us healthy both physically and psychologically. It is also a good way for people to know each other and can improve friendship between people. So long as we are careful enough, sports can do us nothing but good.

4 . The Biggest Stadiums in the World
People have been pouring into stadiums since the days of ancient Greece. In around 80 A.D., the Romans built the Colosseum, which remains the world’s best known stadium and continues to inform contemporary design. Rome’s Colosseum was 157 feet tall and had 80 entrances, seating 50,000 people. However, that was small fry compared with the city’s Circus Maximus, which accommodated around 250,000 people.
These days, safety regulations-not to mention the modern sports fan’s desire for a good view and comfortable seat — tend to keep stadium capacities (容量) slightly lower. Even soccer fans tend to have a seat each; gone are the days of thousands standing to watch the match.
For the biggest stadiums in the world, we have used data supplied by the World Atlas list so far, which ranks them by their stated permanent capacity, as well as updated information from official stadium websites.
All these stadiums are still functional, still open and still hosting the biggest events in world sport.

Canyoning (蹦谷运动)
The sports of canyoning explore the high-energy environment where water meets rock on the coast. Protected by wetsuits and helmets (头盔), people jump from cliffs (悬崖) and waterfalls and discover caves that would not normally be arrived at.
It was first done in the U.K. by TYF Adventure (01437 721611, www.tyf.com) and several thousand people jump from the cliffs near St David’s each year. A half day canyoning trip costs £50 (£30 for children under 16).
Diving (潜水)
Diving is not popular with British people. The difficulties of wild waters are greater because the water is colder and not clear enough, but the coasts of Cornwall, Wales and Scotland have some of the best diving in the world.
The British Sub Aqua Club (0870 112 9133, www.bsac.com) and the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (01580 819688, www.padi.com) run courses teaching the important skills.
Surfing (冲浪)
The best surfing places in the UK are on the southwest coast where it is warmer, especially in Cornwall. The best time of year to surf in the UK is late summer and autumn when water temperatures are warmer.
The British Surfing Association (01479 861256, www.britsurf.co.uk) has a list of famous surf schools around the country.

The most popular natural rocks in Britain include the Peak District, the Lake District, while large areas of Scotland are a climber’s ideal place. 9 . It was 8:30am and the doorbell rang. I answered the door and there was Mr. Jones, who was from a bike-racing company. Mr. Jones said, “Congratulations! You are one of our finalists(决赛选手) for this year’s US Bike Tour Challenge. If you can ride your bike from here to Miami, Florida and finish it first, you will win $50,000. You can only take ten stops on this race and this doesn’t include overnight stays at hotels. Will you accept this challenge, Mr. Wozniak?” I agreed, and so did my parents.
Mr. Jones explained to me the rules. The race began the next day. The first day was very smooth for me. But unluckily the next four days, I bumped into some rain, which didn’t stop until I reached North Carolina. And I had used six stops because of the bad weather. It would take five days to get to Florida, so I would travel one day without making a stop. And I did it. On the sixth day, I succeeded in riding all the way to Savannah Georgia without a stop. Four days later, I arrived in downtown Miami and I was told that I was in the 4th place. So I thought to myself I could win. At 6:15pm, I found myself head to head with another racer. We both switched gears to head for the finish line.
When the officials announced, “The Ohio competitor, Evan Wozniak, is the winner!”
I was so excited that I fell off my bike. Happily, I got the $50,000 for winning this race. And I did it in ten days.
