文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。今天的大多数青少年已经意识到体育活动的重要性。体育运动可以给他们的生活带来许多深远的好处,如找到归属感、平衡工作与娱乐以及勇敢地面对失败。

1 . Most of the teenagers today have realized the importance of physical activity. There are dozens of far-reaching benefits that sports can bring into their lives. Aside from providing an excellent form of exercise, organized sports can teach a young person some essential life-long lessons.

With lots of junk food at their fingertips, teenagers today often battle with eating. Playing a sport can act as great motivation for them to eat nutritious (有营养的) food. In order to participate fully in sports, teenagers have to have a balanced diet. Learning to eat properly and sleep correctly are important lessons that carry on to their adult lives.

Most teenagers have to deal with the stresses of popularity, appearance and fitting in. Participating in sports, however, can help them develop a positive self-image. If one struggles to feel like they belong, joining a team is a great way to give him or her social interaction that will eventually lead to a group of friends.

Team sports aren’t just about developing skills for their games. Those who participate in team sports will learn the benefits of working hard, setting goals and following rules. When teens have a coach they respect, they can also learn to listen to authority and work hard toward a common goal. Additionally, learning to deal with losses is as important as winning with dignity. A teen who learns that losses are a part of life will be able to face any difficult challenges waiting for them later in life.

Thousands of studies all agree that students feel more connected with their school and are motivated to work harder in class if they participate in sports. Sports give teens the opportunity to be around competitive people and gain an appreciation for hard work. Of course, participating in sports may also teach teenagers how to balance between two equally important things-like schoolwork and sports.

Hear the news that the 2022 Winter Olympics would be hold in China, I felt very excited. It struck to me how I learned skating when I was child. At 7, I began to go crazy about skating, like all my friend. At the beginning, it was extremely tough for me to keep my balance. I always fall over on the ground, as a result of which I thought I had no talent for skating. So I gradually lost confidence and became impatient. The more impatient I was, the more terrible I did. I was about to give up while my father came to my assistance. Encouraged by her, I restored confidence and stood up again. As I practiced skating, he always created a relaxed atmosphere and put forward some specific advice. Eventually, I made it.

8 . It's the start of a new year, when your fitness goals are set and you engage in the challenge.     1     Their standards of “too big” are not even achievable in their lifetime, let alone a few months of training, which brings my tips.

Set realistic goals! The process of building muscle is an absolutely slow one that requires strong will to gain. Consistently causing protein synthesis (合成)in specific muscle fibers will allow muscle to develop. However, all individuals are not equal in the process.    2     Gaining muscle will happen quickly to a new gym-goer, but take a long time for someone that has been training for years.

Stick to specific training for the goals you set to achieve.     3    This will require you to restrict the diet, and it will prevent you gaining muscle. Diet reflects the training load. The training reflects your goals. It's like swimming upstream, think strong, fast and flexible. If you are running a marathon, the goals are different and train accordingly!

4     Fat has taken some time to develop, so it will not be lost overnight. Allow the hormonal triggers (生理诱因)in the body to work more efficiently to regulate volume of food. Taking out additional sugars is one of the most important steps to regulate volumes of food to switch off desire for food.

Once a goal is reached, do not go back to what you did before. When people finish their transformation, the hormone profile is very weak to fat deposition (沉积)。Every training session should be a step toward a lasting transformation, with a diet improving the level of exercise.     5

A.Don't try to achieve too much at once.
B.Why do so few people see their goals through?
C.Give yourself a realistic timeline when it comes to fat loss.
D.Keeping running slowly leads to very big changes over time.
E.Appreciate that you are taking time for your own development.
F.Place restrictions on your diet and follow good food eating patterns.
G.Also, it depends on how long you have been training to achieve muscle growth.

As a computer    1    (engine), there’s always a new challenge just around the corner! It can be quite stressful at times, though, which in turn makes me feel anxious.     2    (help) deal with this, I go running as often as I possibly can.     3     I’m at the gym or on the road, my nervous energy pushes me through mile one. By mile two, the tension has moved from my mind to my legs. Over the past forty minutes, all my stress     4    (disappear) and I’m ready to face the next day at work!

10 . For some people, walking or running outdoors is a great way to work out. What may not be so pleasant is seeing trash all over the ground. Well, some people are doing something about it. They are logging!

“Plogging” began in Sweden. The name combines the Swedish word “plocka” which means to pick up, and the word “Jogging”, which means to run slowly. A Swedish man named Erik, started the movement in 2016. On the World Environment Day website, Erik says that he moved to Stockholm from a small community in northern Sweden. Each day he would ride his bike to work.

Concerned about the amount of trash and litter he saw each day on his way to work, he took matters into his own hands.

Flogging, by that term, may have officially begun in Sweden. But many people who exercise outdoors have been doing this for years. Take Jeff Horowitz, for example. He is a personal trainer in Washington D.C. He often picks up trash while running outside. He even has turned it into a game. He will try to pick up the trash without stopping. “I didn’t know it was a thing really. This is just my personal ethics (道德标准) where I go for a run and if I happen to see a piece of garbage lying around and it’s within reach — it is a kind of a little test for me to see if I can grab it and throw it in a near trash can without stopping. And that way, I think, it gives me a little exercise and a little focus for my run. And it helps clean up the neighborhood,” he announced.

Today, logging is an official activity, one that is becoming increasingly popular. Cities around the world now hold plogging events. “I would just hope people would think twice before dropping a garbage on the ground. We have containers…seems on every block. So, it’s easy to put your garbage in the trash cans. I just think people should think about it a little bit more. I do hope one day there will not be a need for logging.” said an interviewee.

1. Which of the following can replace the underlined phrase “took matters into his own hands”?
A.began to pick up the trash.B.appealed to people to go green
C.called on people to join him.D.had the collected trash recycled
2. Like Jeff Horowitz, plogging to many people has become a(an)_______act.
A.deliberateB.automaticC.arbitraryD.temporary
3. What is the idea that plogging events are meant to promote?
A.Jogging is truly beneficial.B.Trash cans should be within reach.
C.Communities should be kept clean.D.Littering is not acceptable.
4. What can be a suitable title for the passage?
A.New Exercise Trend Also Helps Environment
B.New Exercise Enjoys unbelievable popularity
C.Plogging — a Fashionable Way to clear waste
D.Plogging — an Exercise Originating in Sweden
