文章大意:本文是议论文。文章主要论述了社交媒体对人们的影响。

2 . There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that the influence of media is growing stronger and stronger as time passes. If you have noticed, the speed at which news travels around the world has become faster with the development and advancement in technology. Media are actually influencing people in different ways.

Whether you admit it or not, watching movies and programs on the television or our laptop, ipad and other mobile devices as we relax takes us away into this different kingdom — that is, there are parts in our being that feels we are the ones in the movie and sometimes we even feel what they are feeling as we get caught in the emotional excitement. The effect of media does not stop when the movie or program ends. And this effect might just be the cause of behavioral changes in people.

With action films, children tend to follow the movie hero, engaging themselves to violent acts thinking that it is acceptable because his hero became successful in the end. There are cartoon programs that show acts of violence and dishonest acts against others. In return, children tend to copy the characters and think that cheating other people is a way to deal with their problems. They learn to transfer these ill behaviors to friends.

There are some television shows and movies that attempt to create an atmosphere to change the view of people towards social issues such as racial discrimination (歧视). In the minds of other people, the effect can be for the better, but some unfortunately for the worse.

There had been examples in the past that young people drunk driving imitating (模仿) their favorite actress. There was also a case where somebody set a subway ticket booth on fire because he saw it in his favorite film. These are just a few examples of the disturbing influence of media on people’s behavior.

An explanation to these bad acts is that these people could not distinguish fantasy from reality. They get caught up in the kingdom of what they had been watching and the images and scenes become deeply rooted in their minds.

So the media is largely responsible for giving people false ideas and unhealthy pictures, which lead to misbehavior against other people, and can create a dangerous cycle among individuals as they attempt to do the same or even worse things to others. The sad reality is, no one is turning off their televisions or disconnecting from these influences. The only way programming of this sort will change is when people no longer buy into it, demand it, and watch it.

1. What does the author want to tell us in Paragraph 2?

4 . Does your local high school have a student newspaper? Only 1 in 8 of New York’s public high schools has student newspapers- and many of those are published just a few times a year.

Rebecca Dwarka, an 18-yeax-old senior who works for her student paper said, “Nowadays nearly nobody wants to actually sit down and read a whole article about the news, This makes ’a whole article’ sound a little like a long sentence in lonely places.”

I am not nostalgic (怀旧的) about high school student newspapers. I put out what was then called a personal magazine with a group of friends because we wanted to write about peace, war and rock and roll without school officials warming us not to make jokes of this or that.

School newspapers are in decline because students now find out what happened on social networking websites. This is a little discouraging because it proves that for millions of Americans, journalism is becoming a do-it-yourself thing. Every citizen can be a reporter.

When something happens, we look for social media messages. They have become the means by which citizens and reporters can prove, deny(否认), pass on stories and express opinions without the press’s challenging, researching or delaying the messages

But truly good journalism is a craft, not just a blog post. It requires observing something carefully and it uses an eye for detail to help illuminate(阐明) a larger view. And even journalism that expresses an opinion tries to be fair. If school newspapers begin to disappear, I hope there are other ways for students to learn that.

1. What can we infer from Rebecca’s words?
A.School newspapers are becoming unpopular.
B.Long sentences are becoming popular in lonely places.
C.School newspapers are the slowest way of spreading.
D.Students like reading detailed articles.
2. What does the author think of social media messages?
A.They make journalism become a craft.
B.They represent the power of small voices.
C.They are coming without careful research.
D.They are usually discouraging for readers.
3. What should good journalism do according to the author?
A.Express an opinion in a fair way.
B.Ignore some details.
C.Spread a message quickly.
D.Act as blog posts in modern times.
4. Which might be the most suitable title for the passage?
A.Social media or newspapers?
B.High School Newspapers- an Endangered Species
C.Everyone can Become a Reporter at Present
D.Social Networking Brings about New Journalism

6 . If there is one thing I'm sure about, it is that in a hundred years from now we will still be reading newspapers. It is not that newspapers are a necessity. Even now some people get most of their news from television or radio. Many buy a paper only on Saturday or Sunday. But for most people, a newspaper has become a habit passed down from generation to generation.

The nature of what is news may change. What basically makes news is what affects our lives-and the big political stories, the coverage of the wars, earthquakes and other disasters, will continue much the same. I think there will be more coverage of scientific research, though. It's already happening in areas that may directly affect our lives, like genetic engineering. In the future, I think there will be more coverage of scientific explanations of why we feel as we do-as we develop a better understanding of how the brain operates and what our feelings really are.

It's quite possible that in the next century, newspapers will be transmitted electronically from the Fleet Street and printed out in our own home. In fact, I'm pretty sure that is how it will happen in the future. You will probably be able to choose from a menu, making up your own newspaper by picking out the things you want to read-say, sport and international news.

I think people have got it wrong when they talk about competition between the different media. They actually feed off each other. Some people once foresee that television would kill off newspapers, but that hasn't happened. What is read on the printed page lasts longer than pictures on a screen or sound lost in the air. And as for the Internet, it's never really pleasant to read something just on a screen.

A.The Best Way to Get NewsB.The Changes of Media
