There are several primary sources of library funding, starting with national funds which are distributed to states or provinces. These regions send the funds on to public libraries. Local governments also play an important role in providing funding for libraries, and most librarians apply for grants (拨款). Finally, private donations help to maintain libraries — most libraries have an association of Friends of the Library which organizes fund-raising sales and pays annual dues to help maintain the library.

Many private donors are pleased to support their local public libraries by donating funds or including some library in their wills, and libraries reward their donors with treats like after-hours visits or privileged access to special collections.

By combining multiple resources, creative librarians can keep their libraries useful, informative, and fun for browsers. When it comes to supporting public libraries, every little bit counts: if you cannot afford to donate to a local library, think about volunteering time to help shelve books, lead after-school programs, or organize fund-raisers. Being active with your public library is a very important way to contribute to your local community.

Confucius Institute is a non-profit public institute which aims at promoting Chinese language and culture and supporting local Chinese teaching internationally through affiliated Confucius Institutes. With the purpose of promoting our language and culture, Confucius institute program was set up in Korea in 2004, now the Confucius institute is all around the world. The foreigners practise Chinese so hard. They learn how to pronounce and write, even use the chopsticks.

The Confucius institute program works well. There is a biggest competition for the foreigner to show their Chinese. When we watch the show, we will realize they can speak Chinese so well and admire them so much, because it is so hard to learn. Some foreigners not only speak mandarin well, but also know much about Chinese culture.

The Confucius institute program works to promote Chinese language and culture and the achievement is great. Today, the world is learning Chinese.

Bamboo, the fast-growing grass plant common to Africa, Asia and Latin America, has been used for thousands of years to build houses, bridges, and scaffolding(脚手架).    1    .Yet, despite its excellent mechanical characteristics--bamboo is flexible, durable and has the strength of steel-this plant remains something of a forgotten solution in the construction world. Part of the problem is bamboo’s association with cheap, low-quality housing: a “poor man’s timber(木材)”.

    2     . Founded in 2015, Bamboo U offers training courses that promote bamboo as a green construction material. The 11-day “build and design” course takes participants on a hands-on journey through the life cycle of bamboo: from harvesting and treatment, to design and construction. Participants then get to bring their own designs to life, or help create bamboo structures, with the help of a team of architects and designers. Bamboo construction may not be new.     3    

In recent years, concerns about the unsustainability of building materials have caused a fresh look at “natural”construction. Research by the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization, INBAR, shows that bamboo can provide a low-carbon, renewable alternative to timber, steel and cement.     4    . As INBAR’s construction expert, Liu Kewei, puts it: “Bamboo is the sustainable timber of the future.”

Since 2015, Bamboo U has welcomed more than 400 people through its doors.    5    . According to Orin Hardy, the founder of Bamboo U: “We don’t believe that everyone needs to build structures like ours.” Bamboo U is “more about an understanding of the place you’re in. We want to remind people that nature can, and should, be in the built environment.”

The level of competition is generally not quite as intense, which makes club sports an extremely popular option if you’re just looking to play for fun.
