文章大意:本文为一篇记叙文。文章主要介绍了擅长给人物拍照的Lily从小关于摄影故事。

2 . In a video shared online, a young photographer, Lily, is seen confidently directing a well-known action movie star for a photoshopot. Even though the actor is very tall, she is not nervous. She tells him what to do like a real professional, even though she’s still quite young.

“Given his size, I asked him to make more pronounced movements,” said Lily, reflecting on the shoot in a recent interview. The young shutterbug (摄影爱好者) has already taken photos of several personalities and has earned a significant following online, with her work receiving millions of likes.

Lily’s journey into photography began when she was just four years old, with a simple point-and-shoot camera. Her father, recognizing her natural ability to connect with people, encouraged her to explore street photography. At the age of five, she captured a portrait of a renowned musician-turned-actress during a chance encounter in a store, which quickly went viral on the social media.

Since then, Lily has been receiving numerous requests to photograph top talents. “The more I photograph in public places, the more recognition I get, which in turn leads to more chances to work with well-known figures,” she explained.

Because of her young age, some have questioned how she manages to secure such high-profile shoots. Her father, who assists with minor post-production edits, explained that her unique perspective was what attracted the attention of talent agencies. “Through Lily’s lens (镜头), subjects show a different side,” he said. “Her photos capture a softer, gentler aspect of people, celebrity or not.”

Addressing concerns about the use of filters and heavy editing, Lily insists that her images are minimally processed. Her ultimate goal is to evoke (唤起) emotions through her photography and, eventually, to become a full-time portrait photographer. For now, she continues to hone (磨炼) her craft and enjoys the present moment.

8 . As a senior resident, I often distributed poems to my team, printing and posting them above the computers in our hospital workrooms. Once, during a rare quiet moment in the ICU, with permission from my colleagues (同事), I read a couple of poems out loud. I remember watching my colleagues’ eyes close and their bodies visibly relax as the words washed over them.

Since then, I have shared poems — my own and others’ — in talks at my institution and across the country. I’ve also led other healthcare providers in creative writing exercises during workshops, lectures and classes. Many institutions host book clubs, story slams, film screenings and other opportunities for medical learners to engage with the humanities (人文学科).

While poetry can be frightening to some, many contemporary poems provide approachable emotional experiences. Pieces like Safiya Sinclair’s “Notes on the State of Virginia” fully illustrate how a place that seems innocent or even beautiful to some can be upsetting to others. Monica Sok’s “ABC for Refugees” powerfully paints a portrait of a young child caught between languages and cultures — a reality that many pediatric (儿科的) patients face. “Ode to Small Towns” by Tyree Daye overturn s common assumptions about rural life. In “Medical History”, Nicole Sealey shares a patient’s perspective (视角) on a part of health care that, for many of my students and colleagues, has been reduced to a series of check boxes on a computer screen. These and other poems provide fertile ground for enhanced understanding of the human condition, as well as inspiration for a clinician’s own potentially transformative reflective writing.

The possibilities for cooperation between literature and medicine are wide open. I believe all clinicians have a role in recognizing and dealing with how everyone has been shaped by an unreasonable society. The history, sociopolitical context, imaginative perspective and reflective practices the humanities offer may improve the practice of medicine. Through understanding others’ experiences and reflecting critically on their own, every clinician can move closer to being the kind of healer they intend to be.

1. Why did the author like to share poems at work?
A.To cure his patients.B.To bring in the humanities.
C.To make his colleagues amazed.D.To practice for a competition.
2. Whose poem may change people’s beliefs about the countryside?
A.Tyree Daye’s.B.Monica Sok’s.
C.Safiya Sinclair’s.D.Nicole Sealey’s.
3. What does Nicole Sealey’s work seem to imply?
A.It’s urgent to upgrade the medical equipment.
B.Doctors should have better medical skills.
C.There’s room for improvement in medical care.
D.A patient can be treated from different perspectives.
4. Which statement does the author probably agree with?
A.The humanities help make a better doctor.
B.The clinicians are to shape our future society.
C.Doctors must learn from each other’s experiences.
D.Reflective writing greatly benefits a doctor’s skills.

9 . Walking into the on-campus barbershop, the student customers will be greeted by Alexander Garcia with clippers in hand, a barber chair, a full professional clipping set, and customers chatting about Ozzy’s latest DJ set in the background.

Garcia started cutting hair during his junior year of high school. He spent his time learning from barber videos by 360 Jeezy on YouTube about different hair styles. That learning took trial and error, and he spent his time practicing on his younger cousin, but he never intended it to be a business.

He came into college as an Electrical and Computer Engineering major and spent his time in the students’ associations, working as a part-time DJ. His journey of cutting hair on campus began in the second year, with mainly roommates and close friends coming in for a cut and a chat, but his hobby fully developed into CutzbyOzzy earlier this year. Barbers in the city are expensive, he noticed, especially for college students, which pushed him to expand his hobby to a private business.

Garcia is busy, with appointments made usually a week in advance. Customers can pay $18 for a full haircut and $5 for a line-up. His business grows mostly through the word-of-mouth of his customers, who are mainly first-years. “Seeing that most of the customers are freshmen, I like to give them advice, try to explain my own experience and promote student organizations because I feel that enhances my experience,” he said. “I lead them through things I encounter on the way — internships (实习), scholarships, job opportunities, and questions.”

To Garcia, it’s about creating the feel of walking into an actual barbershop; it’s about offering instructions and friendship to his customers. He’s found over time that these students start breaking out of their shells and coming to him with their problems.

“I can just never stay put,” he said. “I always like to try different things in different fields. Apart from being an engineer, the barbershop is truly my life.”

1. What inspired Garcia to start his barbershop business?
A.His hobby as a part-time DJ.B.The real demand from his friends.
C.The high cost of haircut in the city. D.His barbering experience in high school.
2. What helps Garcia’s business grow?
A.Discounts for the freshmen.B.Recommendation by customers.
C.Advertisements via social media.D.Partnership with local barbershops.
3. How does Garcia distinguish from other barbers in the city?
A.He keeps his barbershop better-equipped.
B.He provides a wider selection of hairstyles.
C.He shares more practical guidance for students.
D.He introduces more job opportunities to graduates.
4. Which of the following can best describe Garcia?
A.Ambitious and adventurous.B.Multitalented and supportive.
C.Knowledgeable and intelligent.D.Business-minded and fame-seeking.
