How was everything going？I，together with my parents plans to take a trip to Canada for a week during the summer vacation. There are several difference between high schools in the USA and high schools in the China. For one thing, students who study in the USA are in class only about twenty hours per week. The rest of the time which they spend at school are used for independent study. With so many free time, students who do not make good use their time may not pass the exams. For one thing, many courses are classes which students can study just for funny, and which they do not have to take. Final, students can often choose their classes and class times. Some courses are required, and students can still decide the teacher who class they wish to take. They can choose to take the class of a teacher who they like or respect.

It isn't hard for everyone to grow up into a responsible members of society.

I can well remember an accident that happens on a rainy Sunday afternoon. I was on my way to bookstore and was waiting for the green light at a crossing when a girl of about ten was knocked down by a passing car, what drove off quickly. A man immediately rushed to the girl to give him first aid and I joined in without hesitation. Lucky she was not badly injured but we sent her to the nearest hospital. Comparing with the escaped driver, I am pride of what I did.

As a member of society, I am aware of that being responsible is what it takes to make a better society.

My pen pal Jack from the USA comes to visit me last week. It was first time that he had been to China and he enjoyed his stay here. I took him to a teahouse near my home, which we had a good taste of Chinese tea and learned something about tea culture. Amazing at different shapes of teapots and teacups, he took some photo of them. Then a young lady came to serve for us. She showed us how to make tea but encouraged us to give it a try. Following his instruction, we found that making good tea was much more than pour hot water onto the tea. Jack as well as I were happy that we had a good time there.

The good communication between parents and children are very important. If we don't communicate with our parents proper, we may find it difficulty to get their support when we are in need of help. How should we do to improve our communication with our parents？ Firstly, we should listen to our parents patiently when they give us advices. Their advice can serve as short cut to solve your problems. Secondly, we should be honest with our parents. If we disagree with them, we should let them to know. Last but not least, we should always trusted our parents and see them as our friends. It is always easy for us to communicating with friends.

Several days ago when I went shopping in New York I saw an old woman crossed the street with a heavy bag in her hand. At that moment，the American boy was standing nearby. I thought the boy will help the old lady，and to my surprise，he did nothing. This seemed very strangely to me.

Later my roommate explained the boy's behaviors to me. Americans place emphasis to independence. If the boy had offered to help her，the old woman would have felt that she had considered old and weak. What the boy did it allowed her to keep her independence, that was more important to her than the discomfort of carrying a heavy load.

My name is Ann. I've been in China in a few years. With the help of Li Hua， a good friend of mine，I've been used to live in China. Li Hua， like other girls， are beautiful and lovely. We became friends after we meet each other a few years ago. Although her English isn't easy to understand， but we enjoy chatting and we usually talk a lot about my favorite books. Nowadays, with the growing popular of computers, more and more people are paying less and less attention to their handwriting. According to recent survey, about 85.8 percent of middle school students think of that their handwriting is poor. And for various reasons, many students don’t want to improve his handwriting. 51.5 percent of the students thought that they can just use a computer, so there is no need to waste time improve their handwriting. Which the saying goes, “Writing style shows the man.” Beautiful and neat handwriting is beneficial, especial for middle school students. However, in my opinion, more emphasis should be placed on this aspect in future.

As new students at an university in Boston，many of us were unfamiliar with the campus but consequently late for class. One professor，however，was particular intolerant of being late，making clear that no excuse would be acceptable. So when a girl student came to his class one morning later，we expected the worst results. Then the professor demands the reason for her coming late.“I was being waiting online to buy your new book，”she replied very nervously. While looked at the rest of the class，the professor asked，“Well，why was not the rest of you late？”

Howard Carter is one of the most famous explorer the world has ever known. He was bravely and loved to visit and explore new places. During his life, he discovered much amazing things.

Howard Carter did not go to school, and learnt to draw from his father, that was an artist. He was bright and curious about the world outside her hometown. In 1891, at age of 17, he set sail for Alexandria, Egypt. By the 1920s, he had become an explorer, search for the tombs of Egyptian kings. He finds several important ones. Inside the tombs, he discovered out a great fortune in jewels and gold, along with the preserved bodies of dead kings. These preserved bodies are known as mummies.
