1 . Five tips for safe running

We all know that exercise is good for our health. But some kinds of exercise may be better than others. Running, for example, may help to protect against heart disease and other health problems.

Running is good exercise, but it can be hard on the body.     1    

Take it easy. Do not run too much, too soon or too fast. Most people get running injuries (受伤) when they push themselves too bad. The body needs time to get used to increase in distance or speed.     2    

Listen to your body. Most running injuries do not come unexpectedly (意外地).     3    

They may include body aches, sore muscles (肌肉) and pain that does not go away.

    4     There is no single best shoe for every runner. You should find the shoe that offers the best fit and support for your feet. More importantly, you should replace your shoes every 500 to 800 kilometers.

Take good notes. Take time after each run to write down what you did and how you felt. Look for patterns, things that happen over again. These notes will help you find the best exercise for you.

Cross train. As we said earlier, running is hard on your body. So physical fitness experts suggest some form of cross training to improve muscle balance and to help you stay injury free. They say, besides running, swimming, yoga, and riding a bicycle are good exercises.     5    

2 . How to Make Sure You Enjoy Your Trip

A trip is a planned destination where one arranges in advance in which the main purpose is to search for adventure and to create a memorable moment.     1    

●Plan it well. Trips are ideally planned for them to go well. Take your time, a day or a week ahead to make a plan for your trip. A check list is helpful, making sure you’ve got all your needs.

●Pack necessities. Bring what you need. Trips are short journeys and belong to the sub-level of traveling. Pack only the things you need.     2    

●Be safe. To be cautious is smart. No matter what you are up to, surfing, cliff diving, snow-boarding, scuba diving..., it is always recommended to be safe.     3     Don’t be stubborn and put yourself in harm when there are precautions.

●    4     You may see delays, a different culture, lifestyle, food, and even a shortage of cash sometimes—these are all what travel is about—experiencing things with a new perspective (视角). Once you expect to experience new things, you'll be a happy traveler and free from stress.

●Save the memory.     5     This is not one of those regular days so you ought to save the moment. It will make your trip more enjoyable after all that craziness; you get something to review the good times.

3 . For thousands of years, salting was a common way to preserve food. Corned beef (咸牛肉）, bacon, green beans, and hundreds of other foods were preserved with salt.    1     Then, in the 1800s, a Frenchman named Louis Pasteur discovered the secret: bacteria.

What does salt have to do with bacteria? Two things: First, bacteria need moisture (水分）to grow and multiply. Salt pulls moisture out of food, so the bacteria die.     2     If you cover food with salt or very salty liquid, bacteria outside the food die before they get in, and bacteria already in the food are poisoned by the salt that goes inside.

    3     For meat or fish,you pour on a layer of salt, then rub it in well, leaving a salt crust (盾）all over the outside. Hams are often made this way. Another way is to put food into very salty water, called brine (卤水）.    4     The salt will draw the moisture out of the food, creating a kind of brine that the food sits in.

Today, in most parts of the world, salting, is no longer necessary.     5     But even though we no longer rely on salt to keep our food fresh, we haven’t lost our taste for salt. We don’t want to give up our bacon, corned beef or salted beans.

4 . Some high school students think it useless to receive higher education.     1     If you’re one of them, think again. Here are some reasons why you should go to college and receive a good education there.

    2     We take that knowledge later on to build our careers after graduation. More knowledge will be gained after you start working, but without education, that job will not be within easy reach. Knowledge leads to knowledge.

While limited within the walls of the educational places, we openly explore other cultures of the world!     3     Other cultures have valuable things to share, enriching our own. Education also makes us want to travel and exchange with various cultures, getting more experience.

When there’s a recession (衰退) in the economy, those who attended college will be more likely to find a new job than those who only finished high school and have a limited skill set. The more education you have, the more chances you will get to improve the quality of your life as you have a better job and earn a higher salary.

When you’re skillful and knowledgeable, you gain access to people of similar backgrounds and tastes.     4     Good networking can benefit you a lot in your later life.

    5     You can talk about ideas and events instead of just other people and what’s on sale in stores. An educated person doesn’t gossip (说闲话), having a preference to discuss ideas and listen to what other people have to say.

5 . Nowadays，there is a trend that more and more people spend their holidays in foreign countries.    1    So read our travel tips that are simple and practical，and you can always enjoy your travels.

On a business card，write down the emergency contact's information and place it in your wallet.    2    Give your emergency contact a copy of your travel plan，a passport data page，and the visa information. Give each piece of your luggage a unique look：tie a bright handkerchief to a handle or purchase a colored luggage tag.    3    If you don't speak the local language，carry a matchbox，or a brochure with the name and address of your destination.    4    

To avoid being a target of crime，don't wear eye catching clothing：dress conservatively (保守地)，and don't wear or carry obvious signs of wealth (gold watches，expensive jewelry and etc.) and don't carry more cash than necessary.    5    

To make sure of a safe journey and avoid some unnecessary trouble when traveling in foreign countries，you could never be too careful.

6 . The jobs of the future have not yet been invented.     1     By helping them develop classic skills that will serve them well no matter what the future holds.

Your children need to be deeply curious.     2     Ask kids, “What ingredients (配料) can we add to make these pancakes even better next time?” and then try them out. Did those ingredients make the pancakes better? What could we try next time?

True creativity is the ability to take something existing and create something new from it.     3     There are a dozen different things you can do with them. Experimenting with materials to create something new can go a long way in helping them develop their creativity.

Understanding how others feel can be a challenge for kids. We know what’s going on inside our own head, but what about others? Being able to read people helps kids from misreading a situation and jumping to false conclusions.     4     “Why do you think she’s crying?” “Can you tell how that man is feeling by looking at his face? If someone were to do that to you, how would you feel?”

    5     There are many ways to express thoughts and ideas — music, acting, drawing, building, photography. You may find that your child is attracted by one more than another.
