文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。主要分析了家庭视频微博中把孩子的生活公之于众对孩子的影响,以此让家长相信关于孩子生活的视频微博存在的危险。

2 . Family vlogging — the frequent recording and uploading of personal videos of the family, usually on video sharing website — has become big business nowadays, especially among parents of young children. The more viewers such videos can get, the more money the family can make. At first thought, it does seem like an easy way to make money. However, are we doing right by putting their lives up for public attention?

For one thing, as the children grow up, they increasingly become aware that what they do needs to be admirable enough for the public to enjoy — Being young children, they also would want to do whatever it takes to please others. They then feel the pressure to be perfect, and as that is something not always possible, they become anxious and stressed. Comments from viewers and the expectations of sponsors (赞助者) can also affect the parents’ reactions towards their children.

Another problem is the lack of privacy in the children’s lives. As the children reach adolescence, there is a greaser need for personal space. At 12 or 13, very few children would appreciate being filmed while eating or having a conversation with their friends. Teenhood is a time of significant change in an individual, both physically and emotionally, and is a time when parents need to protect their children and guide them, instead of exposing them to the eyes of the public.

Family vlogging can be irresistible, given how it allows parents to bring greater fun to their family lives. There is also the easy money and the fame to look forward to. Indeed, all would probably go well, but only as long as parents keep in mind that, if not managed well, making their children live their lives in the unforgiving eyes of the public could prove to be a big mistake.

1. How does vlogging about children’s lives influence the family?
A.Children will get used to public attention.
B.Children may suffer from too much pressure.
C.Parents may show no concern for their children.
D.Parents become addicted to exposing their children to the public.
2. How does the writer mainly develop his argument?
A.By providing examplesB.By listing numbers
C.By making comparisonsD.By analyzing causes
3. What’s the writer’s purpose of writing the text?
A.To introduce a new big business
B.To show how vlogging influence people’s lives.
C.To persuade parents to watch out for comments from viewers.
D.To convince parents of the danger of vlogging about children’s lives.
4. What’s the writer’s attitude to vlogging about children’s lives?
A.negativeB.positiveC.neutralD.uninterested

文章大意:这是一篇应用文。文章主要介绍了针对于露营新手的几种露营方式和建议。

3 . Camping tips: Which overnight wilderness experience is right for you?

If you’re an experienced backpacker, read no further. This article is for camping rookies, those who have never slept beneath the stars or haven’t pitched a tent since their youth but are seriously thinking about overnighting in the wilderness.

Car camping

At its most basic, car camping involves packing a tent, sleeping bag, fold-up chair, cooler and camp stove into your vehicle and staying at a drive-up campground. Nearly every national park, and many state and county parks and private facilities, offer drive-up campgrounds with restrooms, potable water, fire rings or pits, and maybe even hot showers. So there are lots of choices.

The downside of car camping is the fact that these campgrounds are often packed with other campers. Not a lot of privacy, they can be noisy, and possibly hinder your quest of communing with nature.

Backpacking

No vehicle required; just your feet and a good pair of hiking boots or shoes to get you to the next overnight spot. A multi-day hiking trip is without doubt the most immersive way to experience the great outdoors.

Different from maybe car camping, it requires the least expense and equipment. All you really need are a backpack, sleeping bag, water bottle, small first-aid kit, enough food to last the entire travel. It can be done just about anywhere on the planet.

Boat Camping

While this does involve owning or renting a watercraft or using a ferry or water taxi service to reach the overnight site, camping via canoe, kayak, raft or boat offers a similar get-away-from-it-all adventure as backpacking.

Experienced paddlers and boaters usually prefer to camp on their own along a secluded shoreline. But many adventure or wilderness outfitters offer guided trips that can last anywhere from a couple of days to two or three weeks. With a boat, you can sometimes camp places that not even backpackers can reach.

1. Who are the intended readers?
A.Red-blooded malesB.White-collar staff
C.Blue-blooded touristsD.Green-hand campers
2. What can you learn from the passage?
A.Backpacking allows you to communicate with nature deeply.
B.Car camping is the most economic way to experience nature.
C.The drive-up campgrounds provide people with private environment.
D.Boat camping offers the same adventures as backpacking.
3. In which column will you find this passage?
A.FeatureB.StyleC.TravelD.Entertainment

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章以Yi在华强北的公共钢琴演奏使他在国内外网络上引起轰动为例,介绍了华强北的公共钢琴项目以及华强北的文化抱负。

4 . Born in an unknown village in Huarong county, Hunan province, Yi had few opportunities to play instruments when he was young.

At the age of 6, when most performers have already begun studying the piano at music academies, Yi learned the traditional stringed instrument the erhu from a group of people lodging at his home. It was not until much later that he first saw a piano when he visited his cousin’s house in Huarong.

“My family was too poor to buy a piano for me, so I often used to visit my cousin, even though it took about an hour to travel the 20 kilometers to his home over rocky roads just for the opportunity to sit at the keyboard,” Yi said.

Yi first arrived in Shenzhen 19 years ago and worked in factories, on construction sites and in kitchens. He had not played a piano for nearly 30 years.

The public pianos in Huaqiangbei offered him a fresh start. On a hot summer’s day, while   taking a break from work at a nearby construction site, Yi and his son passed one of the instruments. Encouraged by his son, Yi decided to give it a try.

He rubbed his hands nervously on his clothes, but the moment he placed his fingers on the keys, he felt more comfortable and his confidence returned. Although his masterly performance at the piano keyboard quickly made him an online sensation in China and overseas, Yi is not the only one to benefit from the pianos in Huaqiangbei.

Inspired by the British artist Luke Jerram, who has placed more than 2,000 street pianos in over 70 cities worldwide since 2008 with the words “Play Me, I’m Yours” printed on their sides, the public piano project in Huaqiangbei was launched by the local government in 2018.

Zhang Chen, deputy director of the Huaqiangbei subdistrict office, said: “Huaqiangbei is located in the commercial district in the center of Shenzhen. We have been trying to provide diverse facilities to bring high-quality public cultural services to the area. We are surprised that the public piano project has attracted so many people to play the instruments, and others to watch them perform.”

1. What do we learn about young Yi from the passage?
A.He smoothed the path to piano lessons.
B.He was fascinated by musical instruments.
C.He received musical training at the age of 6.
D.He familiarized himself with erhu at his cousin’.
2. How did Yi feel when he decided to try playing the piano?
A.Awkward.B.Confident.C.Amazed.D.Refreshed.
3. What is mainly talked about in the 7th paragraph?
A.The artist’s popularity.B.The project’s origin.
C.The artist’s creativity.D.The project’s challenge.
4. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.A city culture featuring the piano needs changing.
B.The street piano project fuels urban development.
C.Huaqiangbei gets in tune with its cultural ambitions.
D.Shenzhen takes the lead in promoting cultural prosperity.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了警方训练松鼠去搜查毒品。

6 . Detecting drugs used to be a special job for dogs, but now a drug detection team is welcoming some new colleagues-squirrels. Six Eurasian red squirrels were trained and approved for work responsibilities by police in Chongqing in February.

Squirrels have a sharp sense of smell as they can smell food under a foot (about 30 centimeters) of snow. Being so small and quick, the “newcomers” are able to search for drugs in places where dogs may not be able to reach, such as in narrow spaces or on top of packages stacked (堆) high in warehouses. The squirrels have been trained to use their claws to scratch at boxes in order to catch their handlers’ attention if they detect drugs, according to local Chongqing police authorities.

“Our self-developed training system can be applied to the training of various animals,” Yin Jin,   a police dog handler in Chongqing, told Global Times, adding that the training has really good results as the squirrels can quickly identify drugs. Although the system is designed for dogs, it can show some information on how squirrels are trained as well.

According to a research article published in the journal China Working Dog which details the program, conditioning the animals' reflexes (反射) is the key factor. First, the animals are familiarized with the target’s smell and do special gestures when they smell their target. For example, for explosive detection dogs, the handlers place pieces of cloth with the smell of the explosives next to the dogs’ food.

Next, the animals learn to search for the target under various conditions. From a large number of luggage bags to people walking in crowds, the handlers create different situations to test the animals. If the animals successfully identify the location of the target, the animals are then rewarded with snacks and other treats. The animals are soon able to search for targets spontaneously (自动地), showing that the conditioned reflex has been built in them. Their training ends with practice sessions in real-life scenarios.

1. What would the squirrels do once they identify drugs?
A.Use their claws to take the drugs.
B.Enjoy treats from the handlers.
C.Scratch at the surface of packages.
D.Search for drugs with the same smell.
2. What is one advantage of using squirrels for drug detection mentioned in the article?
A.Squirrels can detect drugs hidden under the earth.
B.Squirrels are better at identifying explosives than dogs.
C.Squirrels can access narrow spaces or high packages in warehouses.
D.Squirrels requires less training compared to police dogs for drug detection.
3. What is of vital importance for the animals’ successful detection?
A.Developing the immediate reactions of animals.
B.Familiarizing the animals with the target’s smell.
C.Doing special gestures when they smell their target.
D.Involving practice sessions under different conditions.
4. Which of the following is a suitable title for the text?
A.The Role of Animals in Drug Detection
B.A New Member in the Drug Detection Force
C.The Challenges of Training Squirrels for Drug Detection
D.Chongqing Police’s Training Program for Sniffer Animals

文章大意:本文是议论文。英国广告标准句禁播了一则广告,原因是广告中的模特极瘦,容易对人们的健康观造成误导。作者针对这一新闻事件发表了自己的看法。

7 . Rome, Paris and New York are the world’s top fashion cities, all of which have produced some of the top trends (趋势), from high low skirts to the hottest new shoes. But have you ever wondered about the negative ideas that they’ve produced?

Last year, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in Britain banned (禁止) an advertisement from Gucci that featured models dancing around and having fun because they were all extremely thin. Banning ads due to unhealthy weight isn’t new. The ASA banned an ad the year before last for the same reason. In France, it has been a rule that models are to provide a doctor’s note proving that they are at healthy weight.

So what is healthy weight for models? Twenty years ago, the average fashion model weighed 8% less than the average weight. Today, the average fashion model weighs 23% less. When is it okay for anyone including models to weigh less than average?

The images of these models promote the idea that being at unhealthy weight will help one gain the richness and the benefits that the models do. This provides a standard of beauty and richness. Therefore, people who want to achieve those things may attempt to gain them through unhealthy ways. People may think that they are overweight, due to the images of models’ thin figures. They see something wrong with their bodies, whether they are overweight or not. This is a key factor to a lowered body image, low self-esteem, depression and possibly even eating disorders.

I’m not blaming the fashion industry by any means. It’s not their mistake that many people look up to the models and expect to live a life like theirs. I’m glad that the ASA is raising its voices when discussing the growing issue of body images in the fashion industry. By banning the photos and videos, speaking out against them and requesting models to provide doctors’ notes, it’s pushing for the idea that the traditional fashion industry’s body image demands should be questioned and changed.

1. Why was one of Gucci’s advertisements banned?
A.Its models had unhealthy weight.
B.None of its models had a doctor’s note.
C.Its models didn’t act according to the rules.
D.Its models were dancing in an unhealthy way.
2. What do the figures mentioned in Paragraph 3 show?
A.People don’t know when models weigh less.
B.Many women are on a diet to become models.
C.Healthy weight for models hasn’t been decided.
D.Models are becoming thinner as time goes by.
3. What is the possible purpose of the ASA’s measures?
A.To stress the importance of healthy weight.
B.To voice people’s opinions of models’ body images.
C.To introduce new standards of models’ body images.
D.To challenge traditional standards in the fashion industry.
4. Where is the passage probably taken from?
A.A science fiction.B.A textbook.C.A book review.D.A magazine.

文章大意:这是一篇新闻报道。文章主要讲述了人工智能(AI)的负面影响,会生成与现实不符的虚假图像,传播错误信息。

9 . Artificial intelligence (AI ) has been increasingly good at fooling people. A series of photos showing former US president Donald Trump being aggressively arrested by police have caught people’s attention. They were fake but very convincing.

Created by the AI program Midjourney, the photos were highly realistic, from the characters’ movements to the surroundings. However, many details can give away the fact that they are made by AI. The Washington Post’s technology writer Shira Ovide shared her tips. The main idea is to spot the problems anything that would look strange in a photo.

AI software has a history of generating human hands incorrectly. It sometimes can create hands with more than five fingers. This is because AI isn’t sure what a “hand” exactly is, according to Popular Science. The data AI uses to learn often show hands and fingers in various gestures, which can be very confusing for AI.

AI-generated images also usually contain details that are against reality. To spot this, focus on items like accessories. For example, people in an image may be missing earrings or one part of their sunglasses. If there’s text in an image, such as a newspaper or poster, it’s usually garbled (篡改), even though the text may look realistic from a distance.

Another thing AI is terrible at handling is the background. If there’s a crowd in the image, people’s faces in the background are usually blurry - or they don’t have faces at all!

The development of AI-generated art also raises alarm bells about how these fake images could be used to spread misinformation. “I think misinformation is going to hit an all-time high,” Jamie Cohen, a digital culture and AI expert in the US, told New York Post. Generating an AI artwork is to “create reality”, Cohen argued, adding that, being able to tell whether the work is real or not requires high media literacy(素养) skills. “The world may not be ready for how realistic the images have become,” Shane Kittelson, a US researcher, told The Washington Post.

1. Why are Donald Trump’s photos mentioned in the first paragraph?
A.To draw more people’s attention.
B.To make people convinced of the news.
C.To show the AI-generated images were fake.
D.To prove that it’s easy for AI to cheat people.
2. Why does AI generate human hands incorrectly according to the text?
A.It is unable to recognize human hands.
B.The data it uses to learn contain errors.
C.It doesn’t fully understand human hands.
D.It has insufficient data about human hands.
3. Which of the following will Jamie Cohen agree with?
A.AI artworks may not be reflective of true creativity.
B.It’s high time to address the risks posed by AI works.
C.AI artworks will replace traditional art forms in the future.
D.Detecting real art demands strong media literacy competence.
4. Where is the text probably from?
A.A news report.B.A diary.
C.A research paper.D.A science fiction.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了莫高窟的概况、历史以及现状。

10 . The Mogao Grottoes were a center of Buddhist life and some of the world’s great cultures for hundreds of years. However, by the late Qing Dynasty they had been abandoned and nearly forgotten and many of the caves had become damaged by the elements. Around 1900, with the discovery of a library of thousands of ancient documents, the caves received new interest from Chinese and foreign researchers. Unfortunately, this resulted in tens of thousands of items from the caves being taken to foreign museums

In the 1940s, many researchers and artists visited the area to study traditional Chinese art. Copies of some of the artwork painted by respected artists such as Zhang Daqian and GuanShanyue helped people all over the country learn about Dunhuang. These artists were also inspired by the artwork they saw in the caves and it began to influence their painting styles. Others staved in the desert for much longer, Chang Shuhong stayed for the rest of his life — struggling to record the cultural treasures and protect them from the weather. As a result of their efforts the Dunhuang Academy was formed to protect and study the Mogao Grottoes.
