Thank you for your presentation about virtual reality. We were amazed by RealCine’s achievement in allowing users     1     experience the Himalayas,     2     ever having to go there. Certainly, no one     3    (use) it for fun and games will be disappointed.    4    , in many ways virtual reality seems more like a toy     5     a useful technology. We would like you to further explain     6     we can use this in urban planning. We are not very confident as to whether an     7     (operate) will be able to use RealCine easily.

We are concerned about the price, as well. You put forward the idea     8     we will save money if we use RealCine. This may be true in the long term. However, the cost of building a VR studio is quite high, and this seems like a real disadvantage. Please send us more information on the     9     (day) costs and on how much time a design usually takes using Real Cine.

While we are very interested in RealCine, we will need much more information before we can make     10     decision.

I feel     1    (luck) to have won a place on this trip. Next week we are going to Loulan, which is known as China’s Pompeii in the desert. This morning we attended a lecture about Pompeii. The city     2    (found) in the 8th century BC. In 89BC, the Romans took     3     Pompeii. Near the city was a volcano. On 24 August AD 79, the volcano erupted. Many people were buried alive, and so was     4     city. Today I     5    (see) the city of Pompeii as it was 2,000 years ago. How amazing! The city was forgotten for many years     6     the 18th century when a farmer discovered a stone with writing on it. People started to dig in this area for treasure,     7     caused much damage. Thus, in 1860, the area was put under government     8     (protect) so it could be preserved and studied. The volcano is still there, but looks very quiet now. It is hard     9     (imagine) how this     10     (peace) volcano destroyed the whole city!

China’s first artificial intelligence (AI ) textbook for high school students    1    (bring) out last week, following a plan by central government    2    (include) AI courses in primary and secondary schools. The nine-chapter textbook,    3    (name) “Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence”, was written by outstanding    4    (scholar) from well-known schools nationwide, under the joint efforts by the research center for MOOC at East China Normal University and AI startup SenseTime. It includes the history of AI and how the technology can be applied in areas such as facial recognition, auto driving and public security.
