Customer Review
By Niel T. Johnson

Affordable, great sound. I love added memory via the microSD Slot. If you want an iPod, just spend 6 times as much and you’ll have one.

By Christopher Forte

Overall, for the money, this is a great buy.

The music functionality is everything that I would like — intuitive and easy to navigate. The only issue is that scrolling occasionally pauses for a second or two. Having FM and voice recording is a big plus, as is the easy drag-and-drop way of getting my MP3's on the device. The sound quality is quite good, especially through a proper sound system or a quality headset.

By Vito Paine

Good sound quality, Great price. I don't actually use the video on this device so I don't know how well that feature works, but I do store MP3's and photos there. One thing: I wish I had also gotten a screen protector laminate. My screen got scratched up recently.

1. Which of the following can NOT be done by the Sansa Fuze?
A.Listening to music.B.Watching videos.
C.Listening to FM radio.D.Surfing the Internet.
2. According to Christopher Forte, he is unsatisfied with         .
A.FM and voice recordingB.its sound quality
C.the time it takes when scrollingD.its price
3. Which of the following can be learned from Vito Paine?
A.He thinks well of the video's feature on this device.
B.Now the Sansa Fuze he bought can't work well.
C.The Sansa Fuze’s screen has no protector laminate on it.
D.He likes the FM and voice recording feature very much.

5 . Do you really care who wins Oscars? On February 24 this year, the Academy Awards were presented to actors, actresses, directors, musicians and many other people. Usually they are the “best” and we, the Audience, are persuaded that this is true.

This year, the nominations for Best Picture include Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody and Green Book. According to many people, these are great movies, as are the performers who bring the stories to life. Whoever wins the award for Best Actor or Best Actress will undoubtedly become a Hollywood star.

However, Leonardo had never won an Oscar before 2016, but that doesn’t mean that his films aren’t amazing. I only need to mention Titanic and The Wolf of Wall Street and you can clearly see that he is an excellent actor. And of course, let’s not forget Romeo and Juliet.

I’m afraid someone may wrongly apprehend my meaning. I am not saying that those who win Academy Awards are not talented people. They most certainly are talented. What I mean is that I don’t think we should judge films and actors by how many awards they have. After all, at this year’s Golden Globe Awards, Ricky Gervais compared the prizes to a doorstop and told the nominees to remember that no one cared about that award as much as they did.

So let’s not judge an actor or actress just based on what critics say. If you want to know how good an actor or actress really is, go and watch the film he or she stars in.

1. Why is Leonardo mentioned in the passage?
A.He is one of the writer’s favorite film actors.
B.He is one of the actors who starred in many films.
C.He is the leading actor in many award-winning films.
D.He is a good actor who didn’t win an Oscar until 2016.
2. Which of the following can replace the underlined word “apprehend” in Paragraph 4?
A.Express.B.Understand.C.Change.D.Show.
3. In the author’s opinion, what is the best way to judge an actor?
A.To see if he has won an Oscar.B.To read what critics say.
C.To judge him by watching his acting.D.To see how many awards he has won.

9 . This is a common situation for beginner-level language learners—they want to read classic(经典的)books, but what their language skills allow are usually little more than children's books.

Oxford University Press tried to solve this problem back in 1988 by designing a series of graded English reading materials known as the Oxford Bookworms Library. It now has a collection of over 200 books—many of them simplified versions of classics—which fall into seven difficulty levels from "starter level" to level six.

However, there has always been a debate over whether shortened versions of classics have less value. Some worry that by reading them, students don't get to learn the essence(精华)of the original(原版的)text.

Rob Waring, a Japanese professors, mentions one of his students, Satoko, as an example in his booklet The "Why" and "How" of Using Graded Readers. Satoko was a Japanese student majoring in English. But by the time she graduated, she had only managed to finish reading just one English book because it was far beyond her language level. "For Satoko, reading in English was a fight; a fight that she lost, "wrote Waring, who suggested that reading easy texts is necessary because it helps language learners build up confidence and fluency in reading. By reading a lot-rather than getting stuck in one book—they can get used to kinds of English expressions and writing styles. Only by doing this can they reach what Waring calls the "reading-with-ideas" level of reading.

So it doesn't matter if the books are original classics or not--for beginner--level language learners, the simple act of reading is a form of learning in itself. "Stories offer a window to other cultures, other worlds, real or imagined, beyond the classroom," Jennifer Basset, the first editor of the Oxford Bookworms Library, said in an interview with Get English Lessons.

1. Why did Oxford University Press design the Oxford Bookworms Library?
A.Tо attract as many English learners as possible
B.To make classics popular with more English learners
C.To allow English beginners to read classic books
D.To help English beginners improve their language skills
2. From paragraph 4, Rob Waring points out that          .
A.language learners don't need to read easy texts
B.language learners are expected to read a lot
C.reading a lot can build up language learners' confidence
D.reading easy texts can give language learners more ideas
3. What is the writer's attitude to shortened books?
A.Supportive.B.Unclear.C.Unconcerned.D.Doubtful.

10 . Though many people think of summer as a time to slow down and enjoy a vacation, it can also be the perfect time to make money or get experience. Here are some good summer jobs for you.

Survey-taking

Survey-taking is a way to make money during your summer holiday, especially if you live in an area that doesn’t have many chances. With a computer or smartphone, you can sit on your sofa and search for survey sites such as Surveys On The Go, InboxDollars or Swagbucks. Without much effort, you can start making money for your opinions. However, the ease of use comes with a low earning potential.

Food Delivery(递送)

If you enjoy driving, you can use your car to deliver food. You can sign up to deliver food from restaurants with services such as Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub. Another choice is delivering daily used goods with services such as Postmates, Shipt and Instacart. The earning potential for delivery can be higher than for other jobs because customers often give tips. The disadvantage is that these jobs require you to put in more time.

Photo Applications

If you go to the mall, you can use an app such as Field Agent or Gigwalk to make money by taking pictures of products in stores. See any help-wanted signs in the store windows? Take a picture and get paid for each one you find.

House Sitting and Pet Care

Summer is a time when people take vacations and may need someone to look after their homes or pets. Services such as HouseSitter and MindMyHouse connect homeowners with proper house sitters(看房人). For animal lovers who would rather care for someone’s pet while they are away, you can turn to services like Rover.

1. What do we know about making money through Survey-Taking?
A.It’s interesting.B.It requires little effort.
C.It takes much time.D.It requires special knowledge.
2. Why is the earning potential for Food Delivery higher than for other jobs?
A.You can get some extra reward.
B.You work longer hours.
C.You need to drive your own car.
D.You deliver food for many people.
3. Which app should you use if you enjoy looking after animals?
A.Swagbucks.B.Uber Eats.C.HouseSitter.D.Rover.
