Mr. Duncan has been running a successful English-language YouTube channel for over ten years. He lives in a pretty town in the UK and has an upper-class British ac cent to match. Mr. Duncan’s huge video catalog covers nearly every topic in the world of British English. For the past few months, he has stopped creating short video lessons, and started running free livestream lessons three times per week instead. Unlike Bob the Canadian, Mr. Duncan’s videos are quite funny and most viewers find them fun and memorable.

EnglishClass101

This is a channel designed to sell an interactive online English course. However, if you don’t mind a sales pitch(推销行话), the videos themselves are a great learning resource. They are all completely free, whether or not you buy the course. This channel is particularly good at explaining grammatical rules and common expressions. 2 . Volunteer Art &Architecture Tour Guide for Boston Public Library, Copley Square

The goal is to generate public interest in the history, art, and architecture of Boston Public Library, including its special collections and exhibitions at the Central Library in Copley Square.

ROLE AND EXPECTATIONS

●To conduct public and private group tours of the Central Library’s art, architecture, and exhibitions, answering questions from groups and recording attendance statistics after tours conclude.

●To continue to inform oneself of the art, architecture, history, holdings, and exhibitions of Boston Public Library.

QUALIFICATIONS

● Interest in history, art, and architecture in general, and of Boston Public Library in particular.

● Confidence in addressing and presenting information to large groups; prior guiding or public speaking experience desirable.

●A strong command of the English language is required, and fluency in other languages is highly preferred.

TRAINING

Accepted candidates will be asked to attend tour guide training meetings. New guides are expected to complete training around four months. Progress evaluations will be ongoing throughout the training period, and continue through the first six months of working as a full guide.

REQUIREMENTS

●Minimum commitment of two tours per month (or 24 tours per year).

●Commitment to attending tour guide meetings and enrichment programs for continuing education.

REVIEW

Regular assessments and evaluations will be conducted based on the above criteria to ensure that volunteers meet the necessary qualifications.

American Conservation Experience (ACE), a nonprofit Conservation Corps, in partnership with Pinnacles National Park, is seeking one habitat restoration member to contribute to habitat restoration projects alongside National Park Service (NPS) staff.

Position Overview: The ACE members will directly serve within the Division of Research and Resource Management at Pinnacles National Park. The members will serve as part of a crew conducting invasive (入侵的) plant treatment and habitat restoration efforts (80%). Additional duties (<20%) may include projects on other resource-related projects.

Note

Some areas of the forest are especially sensitive to impacts from vehicles, domestic animals, and people. These areas include wetlands, streams, lake shorelines, and most meadow areas. Filming requests in these sensitive areas will require special surveys to determine possible environmental impacts. The request may be denied.

Ariana Fais has lots of books on her shelf but one takes pride of place(显要位置). It’s her own story, The Unexpected Friendship, which was published after she won the Kids News Short Story Competition a few years back as a Grade 2 student. Now aged 11 and in Grade 5, Ariana is a writer of stories and poetry. As well as her Short Story Competition victory in 2020, Ariana was a runner-up(亚军) in last year’s event. About the Short Story Competition

The Kids News Short Story Competition runs from May 1 to 26 and is free to enter. The competition has four age groups: Kindergarten to Year 2;Years 3-4;Years 5-6 and Years 7-9. Stories must be between 250 and 750 words for students in Kindergarten to Year 4 and between 500 and 1,000 words for students in Years 5 to 9.
