It was at the 2012 1SU World Figure Skating Championships that I first saw Japanese figure skater Hanyu Yuzuru. He was competing in free skating with a piece of music from Romeo and Juliet. I was    1     (immediate) attracted to his incredible     2    (perform) along with the expressive music.

Yuzuru has been     3    inspiration for me in my years as a senior high school student. In his career, he    4     (experience) innumerable difficulties and countless injuries so far. In 2014’s ISU Grand Prix, he was badly hurt on the ice due to a collision (碰撞). Though he was bleeding, he still insisted on     5    (compete) with no regrets. What’s more, in the 2018 Rostelecom Cup in Moscow, he couldn’t even walk because of a problem with the ligament (韧带) in his right ankle. But he ended up winning the championship and then    6    (award) the gold medal.

Yuzuru has always trained hard despite the suffering from asthma (哮喘). He bravely     7    (overcome) difficulties so he can dance on the ice and live life to the fullest. From 2012 to 2021, I have been inspired by Yuzuru’s spirit,    8    has helped me push forward no matter what. When    9    (face) with any problem that I think I can’t handle in life, such as being burdened with homework or when my grades are sliding (下滑), I watch videos of Yuzuru skating over and over again to search     10     hope and perseverance. After all, he succeeded against so much uncertainty. So how could I not face my own problems?

Freestyle skier Gu Ailing, 18, is one of the superstars of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

Born to an American father and a Chinese mother, Gu decided     1     (compete) for China in the 2022 Winter Olympics in June 2019. Just two     2     (month) later, she bagged her first gold medal for China at the Australia New Zealand Cu. Her strength     3     (continue) to grow as she won one bronze and two gold medals at the International Ski Federation(FIS) Snowboard and Freeski World Championships in March.

People say she is    4     (talent). But Gu says that talent counted for “only 1 percent” of her wins. “    5    counts is my hard work”, Gu adds. While going to school in San Francis-co, Gu could only practice on weekends. She spent eight hours    6     (go) to the ski hill and back, doing her homework on the way and making full use of her time at the hill to practice skiing.

Gu says she wants to encourage more girls in China to try skii ng and other extreme sports, many of which only     7     (know) there for 20 years, according to the Olympics website. She says skiing gives her “freedom and creativity”,    8     (especial) when she perfectly controls her body and does tricks that others cannot do.     9    February 8th, she claimed her first Olympic gold medal in the women’s freeski big air of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics as a full-time athlete. “I’m not skiing just for medals,” Gu once said. “What’s more important is to bring out my own style, enjoy the game     10     love the sport.”

Organized by Beijing Normal University, an important forum (论坛) on the spirit of the Chinese women’s volleyball team     1     (hold) on Saturday in Beijing. Around 500 people from     2     (differ) fields attended the forum.

Giving nice speeches,     3     (professor) shared their views on the spirit of women’s volleyball and on the building of sports power. Lang Ping, chief coach of women’s volleyball team, also shared     4     (she) opinions, which made a deep impression on all the audience.

Cheng Jianping, the Party chief of Beijing Normal University, said in his speech that women’s volleyball has influenced people     5    (deep), and encourage them     6    (work) hard for their aspirations (抱负). The spirit of women’s volleyball has not only showed patriotism (爱国主义)     7     also brought faith (信念) and courage to people     8     are facing new challenges.
