The Royal Observatory Greenwich (Tickets from £ 16)

Visit the home of time and explore outer space at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. See and stand astride the Prime Meridian line(子午线), the reference point for Greenwich Mean Time. Learn about the history of longitude(经线), touch a piece of rock from outer space, and enjoy amazing views over London.

Coronavirus information: London is currently subject to a four-week national lockdown from 5 November, which means attractions are temporarily closed. You can still book tickets in advance ready for when they reopen with social distancing and other safety measures in place. Cycle or walk to these attractions where possible.

On our way to the house, it was raining     1     hard that we couldn’t help wondering how long it would take     2     (get) there. It was in the middle of Pearl City.

We were first greeted with the barking by a pack     3     dogs, seven to be exact. They were well trained by their masters     4     had great experience with caring for these animals. Our hosts shared many of their experiences and     5     (recommend) wonderful places to eat, shop, and visit. For breakfast, we were able to eat papaya (木瓜) and other fruits from their trees in the backyard.

When they     6     (be) free from work, they invited us to local events and let us know of an interesting competition to watch, together with the story behind it. They also shared with us many     7     (tradition) stories about Hawaii that were     8     (huge) popular with tourists. On the last day of our week-long stay, we     9     (invite) to attend a private concert on a beautiful farm on the North Shore under the stars,     10     (listen) to musicians and meeting interesting locals.

For me, it was     1    honor to win this trip around the world! I just arrived in London a few days ago, and I’m having a great time. I have already seen a few major     2    (attraction), including Buckingham Palace. You can’t imagine how     3    (amaze) it is!

    4    (be) a tourist here can be quite expensive, but my friends and I have found a few ways to save money. Most restaurants, for example, are very expensive, but the food is delicious! And I have been addicted    5    lots of traditional English favourite: fish and chips.

For accommodation (住宿), I    6    (stay) at a nice Bed and Breakfast on the west side of London. Some travellers prefer to stay in hostels, since they are the    7     (cheap) places to stay. Hostels usually have larger rooms with many beds inside, and travellers     8    (simple) rent a bed for the night.

Well, that’s about it for now! Tomorrow I’m seeing St. Paul’s Cathedral,     9    is supposed to be extremely wonderful. I’ll be in London for another week. And then off to Cape Town for ten days! Wish     10    (I) good luck!

By car and taxi

Where possible, visitors are advised to arrive by public transport or by taxi.

There is a car park on Thames Exchange on the north side of Southwark Bridge (open 24 hours, seven days a week).

Black cabs may be found all year round on Southwark Bridge. It may also be possible to pick one up from outside the main foyer (大厅) on New Globe Walk.
