1 . Successful wildlife conservation goes hand in hand with community education and engagement. Volunteers work with community leaders and schools to share their passion for conservation and the environment.

The project is home to an internationally renowned Black Rhino Breeding and Release Programme which has supported Zimbabwe’s rhino population since the mid 1980s. To date, 20 rhinos have been born at the conservancy, with 12 rhinos successfully released back into the wild. Volunteers play a role in securing the future of this once-again endangered animal, working alongside anti-poaching rangers (反偷猎护林员), working on rhino research projects and getting involved in the daily care of both black and white rhino.

Our Rhino Conservation Programme is a unique hands-on opportunity to get behind the scenes and experience day-to-day life on a private conservancy, and be involved with the protection and conservation of Zimbabwe’s endangered black rhino.

The aim of the programme is to assist the reserve’s established Black Rhino Breeding and Release Programme, collect meaningful data and information relating to rhino and wildlife conservation and animal behaviour, and engage with the local community about wildlife conservation.

In 2021, two captive-born male cheetah were introduced to the conservancy as part of an international rewilding programme. The cheetah are now free-wandering in the reserve, and volunteers play an important role in monitoring and observing their behaviour, tracking their movements and recording their hunting rate.

Volunteers contribute to a long-term conservation project and get involved with a variety of conservation activities:

An exhibition     1     (feature) traditional costumes of China’s Miao ethnic group and a show with models wearing Miao embroidery (刺绣) clothing kicked off on Sunday in Milan, the fashion capital of Italy. The event offered the audience an opportunity     2     (appreciate) the craftsmanship of Miao embroiderers at close quarters.

“Fashion first of all is culture,” Raffaela Godi, from the audience, told Xinhua. “This fashion show we just saw is an example of     3     is culture, art and fashion together.”

The Miao ethnic group residing     4     (large) in southwest China’s Guizhou Province has a population of 4.3 million and more than 100     5     (branch). Miao people use needles and threads to embroider patterns representing nature and the ethnic group’s history on their costumes. Due to its     6     (art) charm, techniques and rich culture, Miao embroidery has been recognized as a national-level intangible cultural heritage.

Shi Chuanying, an embroiderer from Taijiang County of Guizhou Province,     7     (bring) her works to the exhibition in Milan. “Miao embroidery’s presence at Milan Fashion Week will be     8     great significance to us, and I believe the embroidery will be appreciated on a global stage,” said Shi.

As an experienced embroiderer, she has led more than 300 local embroiders to make Miao embroidery products     9     (export) to France and Italy.

Long Youming, director of the Guizhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center, said the event is     10     good way to present traditional Chinese culture and accelerate the industrialization, internationalization and branding of Miao embroidery.

For Candace Leslie Cima, aging is inescapable but it shouldn’t keep older people in a box, especially when it comes to beauty and fashion. That she’s old doesn’t mean she can’t wear beautiful and stylish clothes. This is what Cima always tells people when they question her fashion statement.

Cima’s journey to challenging aging began when she created her social media account at 72. She wanted to know what influencers were like and discovered there weren’t many of them in her age group. This inspired her to create her own fashion blog and upload fashion videos on social media platforms.

Cima grew her social media presence through her ongoing documentation called “Life in My 70s”. Her videos became famous on the Internet and gained millions of views. One of her most popular videos had 7.5 million views while the other one had 5.6 million views.

A lot of her viewers were amazed by her creativity in mixing and matching different fashion pieces. Others admired her for looking really good at her age and wearing whatever she wanted. One of the commenters wrote, “If I’m not like this when I am older, then I don’t ever want to be 75.”

Apart from uploading fashion videos, Cima is also devoted to her fashion blog where she writes about fashion and aging. Her blog’s goal is to inspire women from all walks of life and to remind them that aging is a natural but beautiful process that no one should be scared of. She wants to inspire women to accept these changes and look at them positively.

“The only way that view is going to change is that we as older women show them that aging is a gift, something to be accepted, value d and shared,” the fashion blogger wrote.
