In Iceland, you drive on the right side of the road and overtake ( 超车) on the left. Chatuchak Weekend Market
One of the largest markets in the world, Chatuchak is a simply unforgettable Bangkok experience, even if you don’t plan on buying anything. It’s free to visit and there are more than 15,000 stalls to explore from antiques and souvenirs to used trainers, miniature (微缩模型) food offerings for spirit houses and live frogs.
The full market operates from 9 am to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday. You’d better arrive by 10 am to beat the crowds and the heat.
Papaya
Technically, many of the objects in this celebrated four-story antique store are for sale, but prices for the owner’s collection of 19th- and 20th-century artifacts are so astronomically high that the collection never seems to exhaust. Instead, many see Papaya as a museum of recent nostalgia (怀旧), and it’s a great place to browse without any pressure to buy.
Bangkok Doll Factory & Museum
This workshop was founded by Thai doll enthusiast Khunying Chandavimol in 1956 after she completed a doll-making course in Japan. Her dolls draw on Thai mythology and various historical periods, and the collection includes some 400 dolls from around the world, plus important pieces from her own workshop, where you can watch the figures being crafted by hand for free.
The museum is tricky to find; take a taxi from BTS Phaya Thai and get the driver to call the museum for directions.
Chinatown
Thick with the scent of traditional herbal medicines, Bangkok’s Chinatown offers a sensory experience that you won’t find anywhere else in the city. The narrow market alleys off Yaowarat Road are crammed with (塞满) bird’s-nest soup restaurants, dangling lanterns, gaudy gold and jade shops, and flashing neon signs in Chinese characters. It is Bangkok’s most crowded neighborhood, where half the fun is in getting completely lost.

2021 Guardian Art Book Fair

Shama was sitting in the bedroom which she shared with her sister Dolly, watching the goldfish Peepy in the glass bowl. The goldfish swam round and round. For a while Shama did nothing except stare at it. The fish looked sad, Shama thought. It seemed unhappy being in the small bowl.
Just then she heard her mother call her and her sister Dolly for breakfast. Shama said to her mother. “It’s Sunday today.I want to go to the lake. We go there on every Sunday.”
“We can’t go today, dear. A storm is coming. It’s dangerous.” Mom was always like that, concerned about safety of her kids. Shama made a face. Breakfast was over. Shama watched her mother washing the dishes. She loved the rushing sound of water. That was why she loved the lake too.
Mom said she didn’t feel well and wanted to have a sleep. She had gone to her bedroom.
“Shama,” Dolly whispered, leaning as close to Shama as possible. “Let’s go.”
“Where?”
“To the lake, where else?” This was a surprise for Shama. It was a daring suggestion.
“Mom doesn’t want us. There’s a storm coming.” Shama said in a whisper.
“No, there isn’t. Mom just doesn’t want us to go. Let her be fast asleep; then we’ll tiptoe out.” Hearing that, Shama’s face broke into a smile.

“We’ll come back in time. Mom ‘sleeps tight.” Dolly, gave a naughty smile.
It would be an adventure that both of them would slip out. It was a really exciting idea. Shama had never done such a thing. before.
But the fact was that the door was locked by Mom. Dolly ran towards the window. The window wasn’t locked. She smiled and said,“That’s great!”

10 . How to Determine Direction Using the Sun
Knowing the direction you are traveling is vital when lost in the wilderness.
Make a sun rod.
To get an accurate read on your direction using shadows, you’ll need to first wait for the sun to set. When the sun rises in the morning, mark the spot where your sun rod casts its first shadow. This shadow will point directly west, no matter where you are on earth.
Draw your east-west line.
Wait 15 minutes and mark the new position of the shadow of your sun rod.
Locate yourself to the north.
Stand on the line you have drawn, with your first mark on your left and the second mark on your right. You should form a 90 degree angle with the line connecting these two points.
