“Mary! Come and see what I have brought home!” My father opened the door and shouted cheerfully.
“Is it a dog?” I asked when I saw him hugging a huge creature in his arms.
My father nodded and put the dog on the floor. When it ran toward me, I pressed my hands tightly over my mouth to hold back a scream. I turned around and rushed back to my room. I locked up the door as soon as I could.
Since I was attacked by a wild dog two months ago, I had been living in constant fear of dogs. I was confused why my father was so happy to bring home such a scary thing. So I decided to stay in my room until the dog was gone. After what seemed like ages, I heard the door open and shut.
“Finally!” I breathed in relief and opened the door cautiously.
To my shock, I felt something wet touching my foot. It was the dog! I froze there, as if my feet were rooted to the ground. When I regained my senses, I screamed, “Daddy! It is the dog! Help! It wants to bite me! Get it away from me!”
My father was standing by the other side of the door, folding his arms and encouraged me,“It is not going to eat you! Mary, don’t be so scared. Go on! Touch it!”
I tried my best to control my fear and bent down to touch the dog. But I could not do it due to my constant and uncontrollable shaking.
“Never! I will never touch that dirty thing! Take it away!” I shouted.
My father turned a deaf ear to my request. In despair, I picked up a tennis ball that happened to be on the floor and threw it at the dog.

8 . How to stay focused in class
Being relaxed during class is a bad habit, and it is also bad to your grade. Focusing in class not only proves to teachers that you are a capable student but also shows that you have the ability to control yourself, which will be very important.
Look at teacher and make eye contact. Your teacher is not just standing up there talking.
Take notes. By taking notes, you’ll be able to “get into” the lesson. Write down key points as your teacher speaks. And listen to the key phrases such as “This is important” “This is the main idea” “This will be the test” etc.
Get involved in class discussions. This is a wonderful way to become a more focused, successful student. When a teacher asks a question, offer to answer it.
Ask a question.
A.Avoid sitting with friends. |
B.This can help you listen more attentively. |
C.If he or she ask for an opinion, share your own. |
D.He or she is trying to give you a good education. |
E.Talking with friends will make you lose interest in class. |
F.If you don’t understand something, never be afraid to ask. |
G.The more quickly you answer, the more attention you pay. |

●Keep away from certain foods
Onions and garlic not only add flavor to many foods but also add smells that are not easily brushed away. The substances that cause their bad smells make their way into your bloodstream and travel to your lungs, where you breathe them out.
●
Saliva (唾液) is the key ingredient in your mouth that helps keep the smell under control because it helps wash away food particles and bacteria. If you are not producing much saliva, try drinking water or chewing sugarless gum.
●Brush your teeth
You’d better brush your teeth at least twice a day to reduce harmful bacteria on your teeth. The sticky buildup on your teeth collects bacteria that cause bad breath, and trapped food adds to the problem.
●Brush your tongue
A.Avoid dry mouth |
B.Wash your hands |
C.That’s the good news |
D.Buy a proper toothbrush instead |
E.Bacteria don’t just live on your teeth |
F.But the experts warn against overdoing it. |
G.Avoiding those foods is the best way to get rid of the problem |
