文章大意:这是一篇说明文,作者旨在给读者就如何写作业提出了建议。

1 . How to deal with your homework

Write it down.     1     Always be sure to write down all the homework so you won’t forget anything.

Create a homework station. Find somewhere comfortable and quiet to do your homework.     2     It will take twice as long to get the homework done. Shut off your cell phone, log off (退出) your computer (unless you need it for your homework) and close the door.

Do homework as early as possible. Don’t leave homework to the last minute.     3     The earlier you start your homework, the sooner you will finish! Do all your homework as early as you can, so you don’t have a pile of ( 一 堆 ) homework the next day.

4     Think about how long it will take you to complete homework for each subject. For example: English-ten minutes, science-ten minutes, math-forty minutes, history-twenty minutes.

Treat yourself. You can easily get tired by sitting through an hour or two of homework without stopping. Once you finish homework for a subject, take a small break (no more than 15 minutes). Either taking a walk or finding something to eat will do. But do not turn on the TV, or you’ll never go back to your study.     5

A.Use your time wisely.
B.Start as soon as you get home.
C.Start with your hardest homework.
D.Do not burn the midnight oil, either.
E.Never do your homework in front of the TV.
F.After short breaks, return to finish the rest of your homework.
G.Keep a homework notebook where you record all your homework.

文章大意:本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了“我”在开车时发现了一只海龟,在帮助它时却伤害了它,所以“我”决定向专业人士请教如何正确地帮助海龟的故事。

2 . One night, as I was driving down the road, I found something was sitting in the middle of the road. A few seconds later, I realized I was looking at a large turtle (海龟). Afraid of it being crashed by cars, so I pulled over, ran across the road and dragged the turtle to safety. But I’d made one big mistake.

I had heard that the best way to pick up a turtle without hurting it was picking it by the tail in order not to get bitten. So I’d made that big mistake. While the turtle turned out OK generally, I was determined to figure out how to move a turtle properly. I needed to find someone who dealt with turtles. I found the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre. I talked to Dr. Sue, its Executive and Medical Director.

Dr. Sue told me that the organization dealt with a number of aspects of turtle conservation, including rescue, settlement, birth programs, research, and education. Sue explained that southern Ontario is home to a vast majority of turtles in Canada, but is also one of the vastest road networks of the country.

“Ninety percent of injured turtles brought in are caused by cars. These turtles spend a lot of time on land. And they do travel many kilometers on land for a variety of reasons, to find a nesting spot, or to hang out for the summer or winter. Turtles know where they want to go. So, just keep them going in the direction they want to go and you may have saved a turtle’s life,” Dr. Sue said.

Once an injured turtle arrives at the center, there are medical facilities (设备) ready to go, including an X-ray machine. That’s when the team gets to work with healing injuries, and help their patient.

1. Why did the author stop the car?
A.To help the turtle.B.To see the thing clearly.
C.To prevent a car accident.D.To find something good.
2. What happened to the turtle?
A.It got hurt by people before.B.It was injured a little bit.
C.It was run over by a car.D.It lost its direction.
3. What did Dr. Sue suggest at last?
A.Leaving the turtles alone.
B.Making Ontario home to turtles.
C.Changing the road conditions.
D.Helping turtles find nesting spots.
4. What does the underlined word “patient” refer to in the last paragraph?
A.The director.B.The driver.
C.The author.D.The turtle.

文章大意:本文是说明文。本文讲述了一些对抗懒惰的方法,如调整睡眠,坚持锻炼,平衡膳食等,也告诫我们不能被懒惰打败,否则一生不能成事,没有收获。

5 . Lazy people will never gain anything in life. However, laziness can be defeated once a few changes have been made in your mind.

One way to fight laziness is to get enough sleep. Many people lack sleep constantly, since they stay up too late and get up too early to prepare for work. These people have little motivation once they arrive home. Laziness works hand in hand with a lack of motivation and a tendency to put off things. By adjusting your sleep schedule to provide a few more hours of meaningful rest, you can fight laziness throughout the day.

Another way to fight laziness is to change your mind from passive to active. Some people treat their lives as if they were pushed from task to task. Others take a more positive approach, viewing each task as a challenge they must overcome alone. Laziness appears when you no longer feel in charge of your own mind.

Some people fight laziness by removing the temptations that surround them. A television in the living room may provide entertainment, but watching too much TV often contributes to laziness. Create a reward system for yourself, just as parents do for a child. Complete a few tasks and reward yourself with what you enjoy, such as a good dinner or a film.

Laziness can also be a lasting problem at home. Couples and children may all have different energy levels, but laziness can be spread if not dealt with immediately. To fight family laziness, set an example. Be the first to collect and wash dishes after a meal. Others in the home may eventually follow your example and perform their own task. It is difficult to practice laziness when you are surrounded by motivated (积极的) people.

Finally, taking exercise regularly can help you fight laziness. Enough exercise and a balanced diet can help you to develop a healthy lifestyle, thus enabling you to have more energy and help lift your spirits.

1. How many ways have been mentioned in this passage to defeat laziness?
A.3B.4C.5D.6
2. According to Paragraph 2, we can know that__________.
A.people who don’t get enough seep must be lazy
B.people who lack of motivation must be lazy
C.people who stay up too late and get up too early must be lazy
D.people who adjust their seep schedule mustn’t be lazy
3. The underlined word “temptations” is closest in meaning to__________.
A.ExcitementsB.Happiness
C.AttractionsD.entertainments
4. Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A.How to fight laziness?
B.Laziness does great harm to our life.
C.Lazy people will never gain anything.
D.Laziness can be defeated.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。针对进入高中后如何好好学习,文中介绍了几种方法。

6 . After entering high school, you must wonder how to study well. Here are some good skills for you.

Go to class

If you want to do well at school, going to class is the first step in studying well. If you miss classes, you will miss what the teacher thinks is important; as a result, you’ll miss what is the most likely to end up on the test.     1

Take good notes

Try not to write down everything.     2     Write down unfamiliar terms (术语). After class, review your notes as soon as possible. You can fill in details that you missed and review the material while it is still fresh on your mind.

    3

If you are struggling in class, talk to your teacher. He or she may be able to give you more help before or after class. Most teachers have little sympathy (同情) for students who just become worried about failing during the last few weeks of the grading period.

Take part in class discussions

In order to learn more in class, it is helpful to take part in class discussions. Asking questions and having eye contact with your teachers and classmates can increase your focus during the class discussion.     4     This helps you make your point clear in class.

Form study groups

5     Make sure that everyone is familiar with the material because you do not want to spend time re-teaching material to people who do not understand it. Be careful! Sometimes group sessions (上课时间) can become chatting sessions.

A.Talk to your teacher if you need help.
B.Don’t be late for your class.
C.Get students together who want to do well in class.
D.All you need is to put down the main points in your own words.
E.If the material is difficult, you’d better read it before class.
F.You should write down all the new terms.
G.So if you want to study well, go to every class.

文章大意:本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了作者对于骑自行车的热爱,因为骑自行车能帮助作者保持健康以及释放压力。

8 . I make the most and the least sense when I’m riding my bike. It’s one of the rare things in life that lets you escape from the world, while also connecting you to it. I love to drive my way through forests, around lakes, and into little communities I never knew existed.

Along the way, my brain escapes from stress. Life quiets down to simple rhythms. Problems seem to disappear. Throw in a good podcast or music, and I’ll be gone for hours. On a nice long ride, you start finding new layers of yourself, new bursts of energy. That’s when I feel like my body is actually weightless.

Riding a bike is especially good for people like me, who have long-running knee problems.

I’m missing a fairly important ligamen(韧带)in my left knee — a surgeon took it out on my 1st birthday, along with a tumor that had grown under my kneecap. That meant I learned to walk in a full leg cas(石膏). One leg grew a little shorter than the other, making me self-conscious about the special shoes I wore. But on a bike, I was just like anyone else. And my doctor told me from an early age that riding a bike would build up muscles to help hold my knee together.

The idea of being a “serious” cyclist still strikes me as a bit funny. After all, riding is fun. And when you’re riding for fitness, it usually means you’re using a very efficient machine not to get from point A to B, but just to ride around in a loop, with your feet moving in circles. That’s not to say I don’t keep track of my average speed after a long ride, or my monthly mileage. Those statistics are a way for me to compete with myself, and stay motivated.

I’m glad cycling has helped me stay healthy. But I love that it’s given me a place to release the pressure. Leaning over my handlebars, I’ve come to terms with setbacks and made plans for the future.

1. What can the author benefit from the cycling?
A.Losing weight.B.Making his body energetic.
C.Getting enough fresh air.D.Setting off for an adventure.
2. Why does the author need riding a bicycle?
A.To show his talent.B.To learn a new skill.
C.To build up his confidence.D.To help him recover from illness.
3. Which of the following best describes the author?
A.Persistent.B.Self-conscious .C.Demanding.D.Sweet-tempered.
4. Which can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Life always makes sense.B.That’s why I love cycling.
C.I can do everything I want.D.I do some crazy things on my bike.
