Last week, my son found a toy by the roadside. He was so exciting by this amazing find. He holds onto it all day. However, that evening, I saw a post from a mother try to find a lost toy — her son’s favorites. Then I immediately sent him a message that we had it. The next morning, I told my son the news the toy in his arms belonged to another little boy. To my surprise, he glad gave me the toy and said he knew what were the right thing to do. Then the toy was returning to its owner. A week later, that little boy’s mum bought with a new toy for my son as a big thank-you gift.

John Snow was a well-known doctor in London. Cholera was the most deadly diseases of its day. Neither its cause nor its cure were understood. So many thousands of terrified people died every time when there was an outbreak.

At that time, there were theories explained how cholera killed people. John Snow suspected the second one. As the disease spreaded quickly through the poor neighborhoods, he began to gather the information. He marked on a map the exact places all the dead people had lived. The map gave a valuable clue about the cause of the disease—the water from Broad Street pump seemed to be to blame. However, he found the water came from the polluted river.

With other two cases, John Snow announced for certainty that the polluted water carried the disease and suggested that the source of all water supplies was examined. Finally “King cholera” was defeated.

Have you heard about Singles’ Day (Nov. 11^th) in China? Many people stay up lately that night, shop online to get big savings. Well, the US has something like it calling Black Friday. Black Friday is one of the bigger shopping days in the US. It always falls on a day after the Thanksgiving holiday. On this day, store will offer special deals just like on Singles’ Day in China. On Black Friday, shoppers will often wake up very early to wait in line at stores after they open. They might start wait in line as early as 2 or 3 am. Sometimes, the crowds will be such big that it is impossible to get inside the store. People sometimes fight over things because there are only a few are left.

I am fond the summer holiday. Last summer, I go to Hawaii for my holiday. I often had a walk along the beach after the supper or had a swim in the afternoon. They sky was blue, and the air was fresher. Whenever you went, you could saw the green trees and the colorful flowers. The food in Hawaii was delicious and the people was friendly, too. The holiday was really wonder. I will never forget the days when I spent in Hawaii. I enjoy travel across the world. I hope I can meet different people and visit different place of interest some day in the future.

I’m very thank to you for inviting me to stay with you in the come summer vacation. I have been dreaming of see you again so that I can get help from you in my English learning. And I’m afraid I cannot go to your place this summer. I’ve promised my grandmother, she lives in the country, to spend this summer with her. She misses me too much that I find difficult to refuse her request. I’m busy preparing for my examinations in present. I planned to visit you in winter if it’s a convenient for you.

Last week I went to a movie, which was very moved. It was a sadly movie about a mother and her son. When the boy was little, his mother was very poor that she had to send him to a rich person whom had no children. The boy receives a very good education and twenty year later he became a doctor. In the hospital, he had a patient. She was an old lady. He did not care too much about her, for she could hardly pay for the medical care. One evening, the lady died quietly of a serious illness and on her bed the doctor found letter. In it she discovered the truth and felt like the love of a great mother. He wanted to call her mother, but it was too late. Everybody in the theatre were close to tears.

I am Zhou Kai. I am quite healthy and rarely did I get ill. That is why my family lives near the sea but we have fish about four times a week. My mother always cooks a lot of vegetables every day, making sure we eat healthy. Most of my friends enjoy eat sweets but I don’t have a sweet tooth. As a result, I am not overweight. I take a great deal of exercises, too. I’ll play the football for the Senior High Team tomorrow. I think it will be a difficult game because our team captain breaks his leg when playing last week. He felt awful when he told that there would be a month or more before she could play it again.

Last term, I hosted an exchange student naming Jacob from the Great Britain to our school. He really cares for Chinese Culture. Jacob asked me to show himself around the city on weekends. I took him to many local place of interest and we also go to the theater to watch a show of Peking Opera. He was so attracted by the performance as he decided to learn it. My father happened to know a master of Peking Opera and introduced Jacob to him. Jacob was great honored to be one of his students. Put his heart into it, Jacob made a rapid progress. When he returned England, he gave a performance, for what he won much admiration from his classmates.
